What is the best, pentium 3.2 GHz or Core 2 Duo

Hello. I want to play a game that requires a pentium 4 3.2 GHz or more powerful. I have an Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T5550 1.83 GHz 1.83 GHz. Don't know much about computers and want to know I can play it until I open it. Thank you.

Please get/run CPU - Z and validate the exact model of your older Pentium processor

http://www.CPUID.com/softwares/CPU-z.html

In general, the Core 2 Duo will be better than the old Pentium processors even to clock speeds really low.  Pass provides a list of very basic to show you the overall performance of different processors:

http://www.cpubenchmark.NET/common_cpus.html

as you can see in the graph, pass mark means that even an Intel Core2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz outperforms an Intel Pentium D @ 3.40 GHz.  It is radical enough that a Core 2 Duo is good; Unfortunately, you have to take into account the fact that Passmark is probably represents a certain part of multi-threaded performance results.   Many people do not get to use all the cores of their processors multi-threaded performance is not always indicative of performance in the real world.  A much more realistic (but harder to read) reference is provided by SPEC [1]:

  1. Goto http://www.spec.org/cgi-bin/osgresults?conf=cpu2006
  2. Change the drop-down list to the processor
  3. Type "Pentium D" in the text box of Matches
  4. Click on the button "run Simple extraction.
  5. Recording an average baseline CFP2006 results for your processor speed (assuming that you have and old Pentium D)
  6. Repeat 1-5 for Core 2

When I do that, I get a threaded Floating Point single rate of about 11 for a Pentium D @ 3.2 and 11 for a Core 2 Duo @ 1.86.  So, if I read the SPEC benchmarks (this may be difficult), the only threaded execution of a Pentium D @ 3.2 is about the same as a Core 2 Duo @ 1.86.  So I guess it's a draw one way or the other, but many games these days become multi-threaded, another factor may be the measure of CFP2006 rate which is (multi-threaded).   When I do that, I get a multithreaded Point rates covered with approximately 18.9 for a Pentium D @ 3.2 and 19.6 for a Core 2 Duo @ 1.86.  So the Core 2 duo wins by a small margin.

To make a long story short, I guess as a Pentium D @3.2 and Core 2 Duo @ 1.86 are substantially the same, but I guess your old Pentium is a Pentium d this could be a Pentium oldest as a single core Pentium or old hyper threaded Pentium (hack), so that the Core 2 Duo could give you gains of performance still more.  In addition, Core 2 Duo will expected to run more cold than the old Pentium so school if you're a serious games, you might want to consider to make a Core 2 Duo, just so you won't have to worry about your thermal alarm is going so.

Finally, you can get better answers post this kind of question to Tom's Hardware:

http://www.TomsHardware.com

These guys really take benchmarking seriously! ...

[1] - for games, you often care about decimal floating results unless you have a graphics processor really killer/physical and that you only use your main processor for Artificial Intelligence.

Before you sell or give away your computer, and more the steps listed in this article to support, please follow these steps:

    1. run the Diagnostics from Apple or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do (or it should), and you won't be surprised by the results.

    2. reset the PRAM and the SMC, which may contain personal information.

    3. If you set a firmware password, remove it by running the utility in recovery mode firmware password.

    4. If you turn on FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.

    5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.

    6. If you have created another partition of data on internal disk, remove them in disk utility.

    7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the remaining data partition with the possibility of putting the data to zero. An SSD has no need to be set to zero.

    8. remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it is still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the warranty to the new owner as described in the terms and Conditions AppleCare (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

    Note also:

You can legally or transfer almost any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. This includes OS X, so if you've switched to OS X 10.7 or later, you need to reinstall an operating system older, either from the installation media, if any, or by commissioning in recovery mode of the Internet (option-command-R start ringing.)

The new owner will have to re-download everything software that came on the App Store, as appropriate, including updates of OS X, under her Apple ID. If you never updated applications bundled iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band) through the App Store, you can not transfer these either. The buyer must buy them. Note that iPhoto has been suspended and is no longer available for purchase.

On my laptop, the operating manual has been preloaded with too, and I could find all the necessary information concerning the upgrade of RAM.

The manual says you can use PC2-5300 modules if the A300 would support the RS690M/PM965/GM965 chipsets. But if the laptop is equipped with Intel GL960 chipset, so you can only use the PC2-4200 modules.

Using the Intel GL960 chipset you can extend the RAM to 2 GB (2 x 1 GB RAM)

  • What is the best intermediate codec should I use for editing in Premiere Pro CS6

I am a photographer at video edting and unfamiliar with codecs. I work with video Time lapse 1920x1080p generated by Lightroom 4 through LRTimelapse, which uses the H.264 mp4 codec.  My video clip features movements of a camera bump that has stabilized through Warp, but there also slowed a little need to reach a specific length. String and time remapping can be done on the same sequence, so I think I need to export the clip stabilized string in an intermediate file, re - import in to the body and then slow down the clip. I tried MXF OP1a: class AVC-Intra 100 1080. Video re-imported mxf blurs when previewing, but is strong when the clip is stopped.

    1. What is the best intermediate codec for further editing?

    2. is it important what order are stabilizing Warp and time remapping?

3 or is there a better way to stabilize AND slow down a clip?

    System

    iMac 27 i7 2.8 GHz quadruple-heart, Os X 10.8.2

You don't need to export to an intermediate file.

Add timeremapping, right-click on the clip and the nest, and then adds the string.

As a general rule, her upgrade CPU what whether it is compatible with the motherboard will NOT give you a lot of performance. The GT 620 is a low range GPU and there are a lot more mature. Check the video card review sites for options. You will also receive additional RAM if it is not already overexploited, usually more than a costly upgrade of CPU.

  • First cs5, raid 0 (2 discs) what is the best to 2 discs to use for avchd/hdv?

I want to scratch (2) 2 TB set for Raid 0 disks. What is the best readers in use for editing avchd/hdv? What is the size of the cache matter? 3 discs would be faster or is my processor the neck of the bottle.

    Windows 7, 2 + year old Quad Core Q9650 @ 3 GHZ, Nvidia Geforce GTS450, first cs5, 8 GB of ram.

    I have 1 system disk of 10 000 rpm

& an existing (disc 2) 1 gig each Raid 0 for all the video/audio/project files...

I want to add a 2nd raid 0. Hoping for RT more with the 2nd most recent raid without changing the MB or CPU.

Rather than investing in drives of 2 TB, register and upgrade your whole system. A Q9650 is about 6-8 times slower than a fast system and it your main bottleneck using AVCHD.

  • HP Z400s under spec for HD in CS4 edition. What is the best way to go?

    Hi all

I recently bought the three HP Z400 workstations for editing XDCAM EX 1080i (HQ) a timeline in Premiere CS4. It's a very hasty and ill-informed purchase. Unfortunately I only came across the Adobe forum after that I ran into trouble with 1 and 2 workstations. After reading a lot of useful messages, it is quite obvious that new two of my machines have the ability to edit full HD 1080i chronologies stably.

Before I describe my problems, I'll describe my system specs:

    Z400 1 workstation

    Windows XP 32-bit
    Xeon W3505
    3 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 1800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

    Z400 Workstation 2

    Windows XP 32-bit
    Xeon W3520
    3 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 3800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

Z400 Workstation 3 (this machine works well and has not had stability problems)

    Windows Vista 64-bit
    Xeon W3540
    8 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 3800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

While I was able to edit clips XDCAM EX 1080i HQ on all these systems, work stations 1 and 2 are very unstable, crashing regularly, especially when rendered.

I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to technology, so after reading through the many excellent posts here, I'm still not entirely sure which is the best way forward for me to put jobs 1 and 2 to the height. It is clear on reading these posts that I more capitalized on GPU cards, underestimated the importance of the RAM and committed a fundamental error of my choice of operating system:

    • In the spirit of the community - are the specs for Workstation 3 enough for stable HD editing?
    • What is the best solution with 1 and 2 workstations? Reader threads I guess I upgraded Vista 64 bit OS and spend at least 6 GB of RAM - it would be enough? If this is not the case, what do you suggest? In addition, the existing processors (w3505 and w3520) are quite fleshy for work?
    • And this could take liberties... all topics widely discussed on this forum; I'm having trouble getting my head around storage. What is the best configuration that I do with my current gear (z400 motherboard) for HD editing (including adding additional disks)?

Thanks in advance... I'm not much of a techie, so all the words of wisdom are like gold dust.

    See you soon,.

    James

Your CPU 3505 is only a dual core chip.  Certainly working on upgrading the CPU on a quad core.  I don't know if HP offers capabilities overclocking on this motherboard single processor.  If so, you could try prejudice overclocking guide lines since it is structurally almost identical to the i7-920.

To the power of the processor which is the most important point for the creation, you can use one of these processors W3520 / W3540 / W3570 (2.66 to 3.20 GHz, 8 MB L2 cache) If you prefer do not overclock or if HP didn't you provided the functionality in the BIOS.

Certainly wait (I think that it is the date) October 22 to Win 7 64 bit OS it is certainly faster than Vista 64.

Incidentally, I don't know if you have ordered these units, but it may be useful to call HP and see if you are eligible for a free upgrade to Win 7.

    Hi all

I am currently using T-Mobile and want to get the new iPhone 7. Since there is no option for a sim-free iPhone, what is the best way to buy the new iPhone? Should I get the T-Mobile one full fare? I know that he will be released version but it will come with a T-Mobile sim so what will do with the sim card? Put it away or give it to T-Mobile? Or should I wait for the version without card sim to appear, which I don't think that will come out until November, and I don't want to wait that long.

    Thank you in advance.

If you do not want to wait to pay full price for the model from T-Mobile.  You can do whatever you want with the SIM card.
