  Properly installed all updates of security except IE11 upgrade [has a full update of IE8 that should cover most security problems... [Since I use Firefox... or whatever it is, but it is to say... no biggie].

  I installed the updates [ie8, etc] 1 security and updates in batches of 20-30 for most recent first then older then. Then I installed the office updates and then a point net 3.51.research showed several versions of dot net needed.

  After each batch, I did a restore pt.

  Note: this repair facility corrected a connection problem that prevented programs and 32-bit browsers... including malwarebytes to connect to the net. I had followed the many expert suggestions to fix this problem without success before the repair facility.

  In my opinion, you must install the XP operating system on the second partition.
  In this case, you can use the two BONES; Vista and XP.

• What is the best way to get a customized version # from an ESXi host?

  Each quarter, we generate a sequence of updates (including patches and security scripts) which are performed manually on our 5.0 ESXi hosts. I don't have an internet connection and so I have to do it this way.  I would like to be able to identify the last quarterly update that has been run on the vCenter servers and/or Client VI.

  Right now, I think adding the quarter, example 1 Q 13 on the DCUI message, then help PowerCLI, vCenter to retrieve the message DCUI, crawled and paste the quarter in the field host Annotations on vCenter.

  Kind of ugly, but I cannot find a cool way to get data like this outside of the host.  I don't want to rely on my user manually set to nothing, for example the field of Annotations on vCenter that is also subject to errors.

  I really want something that can also be seen on the VI Client, too, as the annotations are only on vCenter.

  I have ideas about the best approach to tackle this problem.

  Not sure if this is the best way, but that's what I ended up doing.   It feels like there should be a better way.

  I've updated my quarterly script to add the version number at the bottom of the file, / etc/vmware/welcome, whenever it is run on an ESXi host (e.g. myScript version: v1.0 Date: 04June2013).  This file appears under the banner DCUI.

  Then, I wrote a script powerCLI to roughly the following:

  This replaces the Notes field for each host, one day I can go back and make it more user-friendly where it replaces the version leaving the rest of the field notes intact.

  This works much better, but want to go further and make a Windows7 Ultimate _64bit_ _clean install_ in order to take full advantage of theupgrade in RAM.

  If you need to switch to Win 7 64 bit, then you need some Win 7 64 bit drivers.
  On the European driver Toshiba page, I could find some 64-bit drivers, but it seems that not all Toshiba for Win 7 64-bit tools are released.

  It is the opinion of the Expert that you shouldn't depend on HP Support AWizard when it comes to BIOS updates.

  According to other factors in the system at the time when the HPSA trying to hit your system with an update of this type; the results could be... other than expected.

  You can set 'Notification' HPSA to prevent it from trying to update your BIOS.

  DON'T update the BIOS when you see an update in your Web page of the computer AND that this update can be used to provide a fix for a problem that you have discovered in your system.  In other words: If your computer is happy, do not update the BIOS just because you think it would be a good thing to do.

  If you decide to update your BIOS

  • Make sure that ALL backups are up-to-date and complete - this means that everything you need to restore the system in case something goes wrong.
  • Understand that even when you do everything exactly right, you can end up with a bricked computer, that is an expensive paper weight.
  • Make sure you have at least your critical data on some form of external backup.
  • Unplug the USB drives and other useless material.  Desktop keyboard and mouse can stay connected.
  • Always run power cable to update the BIOS, never on the laptop battery
  • Touch the system during the update is underway
  • Optional: Leave wireless ONbutton. You could turn off the router to ensure that there is no interruption.

  According to the description, it looks like you get the error when installing a new installer as ' not enough memory to process the order'.

  I have a couple of steps that should help you with this problem.

  Method 1:

  Try these steps and check:

  Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following windows Help article.

  Back up the registry
  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

  a. Click Start > run > type regedit and press enter
  b. find the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters
  c. find IRPStackSize
  (d) If this value is not right click on key settings and click on new > Dword value and type IRPStackSize under the name.
  e. right click on IRPStackSize and click change
  f. Select decimal , enter a value greater than 15(maximum is 50 decimal), then click on OK.
  g. close the registry editor and restart your computer.

  Method 2:

  Try the steps mentioned in this link and check.

  I expect a few entries/suggestion on how to install Oracle on a server with six disks available.
  A few details and my suggestion.
  The server is a 4 GB memory HP DL365 with 6x146GB.
  Operating system: Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.2
  Configure the Smartarray with 3 mirror'ed LUN.
  
  Lun1: OS / Flash file Recovery Area /Control
  LUN2: database files /Control
  LUn3: Redo log files /Control
  
  The database size is 20 GB estimate + 40 GB year. Must obtain a SAN for the system on the net within three years.
  Backup takes about 60 GB. 2 weeks are stored on disk on the old server. New server backup area of flash recovery with Legato NetWorker Module for Oracle (NMO).
  
  Part-time only s/n, so if this configuration seems silly you know why.

  With only six discs my instinct would be EVEN... Stripe and every mirror. No real value in separate LUN 3, given your database is so small.

  When you get the SAN I would probably recommend a different strategy.

• CEP vs CSXS - what about the old features of extension?

  I'm building an ILST plugin where extensions are incorporated.

  Extensions are built with HTML and JS/Jquery - so not with the panelsuit SDK.

  Espacially with CSXSWindowtype = extensions 'Panel', I have a few problems:

  I did only to hide the Panel by JS or C++ (as hitting the key X) - I know that these questions have been around for a while! But there are so many inconsistent answers.

  When I do CSInterface () .closeExtension () the Panel remains open, only the HTML happy farm - it's also a discharge which I don't want to do.

  In the old CSXSInterface where many more functions as hide etc. and also the events when the cover is closed and many more.

  Where did they go? They will be applied in future versions of interface?

  And is there no work around to manipulate a Panel (the functions CSInterface are so much less then the CSXS functions) - or is it just sth. I missed reading all that possible - and fought through forums in a week?

  It's buggy! This does not at all. I had to close the extension using c ++ plugin, controller and unloading extension method.

  I do the same for the extension to hide or show. Using C++ plugin. And to load and unload the method in HTLMController.
