What is the function of password HARD drive physically?
Acer Aspire E3
I put a password on the HARD drive in the BIOS, and I see that it is opposed to access F12 boot without the password menu, thus preventing boot from somwething like a Linux Live CD (good!).
My question is, in addition to password lock the normal startup process and the F12 function, the drive password HARD does nothing else, as for example the encryption of disk?
Nope no encryption with just a HARD drive password.
what you have found what is a HARD drive password, do nothing else.

What is the mini 110-4111ej hard drive brand?
HP uses different brands to adapt to the need for the SATA hard drive, so there is no specific brand I can say. Why don't you use the test drive that is present in the BIOS?

What is the maximum size of hard drive, which can be installed in a desktop pavilion d4790y?
It would be a secondary drive, not the boot drive.
The operating system is Vista Home Premium, 32-bit. The version of the BIOS is 5.08.
Are there any changes or upgrades that would allow an internal hard drive 3 TB to install?
Here are the specifications and configurable options for your desktop HP Pavilion d4790y and here are the specifications of its card mother P5BW - THE (Basswood2). Based on the specifications and the age of the computer, I would expect you to use a hard drive 3 TB as a secondary drive on Windows Vista (DISPLACEMENT SP1 or SP2) and Windows 7. Formatted as MBR would require the drive to use with a minimum of two partitions. Formatted as GPT would require only a single partition. In no case will you be able to use the 3 TB as a boot device drive because your computer does not support a UEFI BIOS that allows booting from a GPT formatted disk. No changes or updated should be held.
I recently bought an Equium L20-197 and I thought to install a larger HARD drive.
I wanted to know what the maximum size of HARD drive that can be installed on an Equium L20-197 (I guess it's 120 GB, as it is on the L20-187 but I'm not 100% sure)
I have also been seaching for the IDE drives and found a list of sites who have PATA, ATA100 etc. are also the IDE drives? (I checked the wiki and articles all point Yes, but a little more confirmation would not hurt)
I was also wondering if the HARD drive I install must be brand toshiba (or if it even makes a difference).
Thanking you in advance for any help you can provide.
Equium L20 is very similar to the Satellite L20.

I know, it's that you can use the 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB 2.5 IDE HARD drive supporting the UDMA100
My default hard disk is almost full and I plan to update. What is the maximum size that this model could overcome? Very well is 2-3 to?
I replaced my optical drive to a box with a 250 GB SSD HARD drive inside. I installed my new operating system here, and makes the default boot drive. The default value of HARD drive that comes with the laptop is my backup drive. This is configured by okay?
Do I have to put my SSD on the default HARD drive space and put my 2 to/3 TB harddrive on the caddy for maximum performance?
1. in theory, you can get 2 TB or TB but 1 TB has better peformance.
2. you cannot boot from the caddy. My suggestion: use for normal Bay and 2 TB SSDS in the caddy. You both what you want.
3. as (2) above.
I use a HP dc7600 CMT, which works well after the upgrade to a Samsung 128 GB SSD Intel Pentium D 3.4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6450. I'm under Win 8.1 Pro x 64, with the most recent upgrade and have absolutely no problem. Now, I want to add a second internal HDD and I wonder what is the maximum size that I can go to. I can't go up to 2 TB, or am I limited to a lower number? 1 TB? 500 GB? 250 GB?
Will be happy to help here, especially if he actually tried to apply in practice.
Thanks in advance.
In theory, you'd be limited to 2 TB.
The biggest HARD drive I have ever installed in my dc7600 CMT was a 1 TB of HDD, so I can't confirm that a 2 TB drive will absolutely work.
Nobody knows what the maximum hard disk size is for a Satellite 2400-103? This laptop has a 30GB HARD drive which is complete at the moment and I'm moving to a 160 GB unit.
Used software - DiskCopy - clone Moose 30 GB of cloning to the new 160 GB drive. This creates a partition on the disk that is the same size as the original (about 28GB). If the new hard drive is installed on the laptop at this point, the laptop will be start OK. If I use a partition manager - Partition Magic - to resize the partition to the size of the new disc (about 150 GB) then the laptop does not start.
Would it because there is a limit on the size of the hard disk supported by this laptop?
If so, what is the limit?
Thank you and best regards.
Satellite 2400 is very old notebook, so I think it has a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can only use up to 128 GB of free space so the maximum capacity of the disc HARD would be 120 GB. So I think that's the reason why the computer laptop can-t start successfully with the 160 GB model.
In your case I bring back the 160 GB model to the computer store and ask one another 120 GB one. It should work normally
My age Satellite Pro 4600 has a 20 GB HARD drive. These are now very difficult to obtain, does anyone know if superior capacy HDDs can be used and, if so, what is the maximum size of the HARD drive.
(Despite his age that I always use the Satellite Pro for some jobs).
Satellite Pro 4600 is old enough for laptop and it is not easy to find the exact info. The fact is that this laptop comes with 10 and 20 GB hard drives.
My opinion is that you can use 30 or even 40 GB HDD. I think that 30 GB new HARD drive should be enough for your some jobs.
What do you think?
hard drive on the networkHow can I share hard drive on the network; Use the prompt command on windows server 2008 please?

If you are using Windows Server 2008, and then the question would be better suited in the TechNet support. I suggest you to report the problem in the following link.
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L40, model number PSL4CL - 001 with 80 GB HDD (SATA) 00C. I need to buy a new bigger hard drive, but I don't know the maximum size that I can use my laptop?
Can I get a new one with 500 GB or I shouldn't buy one more 250 or 320 GB?
Theoretically, you can buy each HARD drive you want. Your laptop is equipped with a SATA interface for HARD disk and there is no limit of capacity as on the old IDE interface. So, a 500 GB model should work correctly on your laptop.
If you buy a new one make sure that it s a portable 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface. All that s! :)
I hope I could help a bit.
I want to add a new hard drive to an old laptop Satellite 2610 CDT. However, before buying a new drive, I want to be sure that it will be properly recognized by the BIOS. The operating systems (Win 2000 and Debian) I will use can handle large capacity disks, so that they are not a problem here.
How can I determine the maximum capacity of the hard drive that will be recognized by the BIOS? The BIOS supports LBA-48 address?
Thank you very much!
According to the specifications of the laptop computer supports a 6 GB HARD drive.
You can try with 10 or 12 GB of HARD drive.
These hard drives are cheap and I don't see any risk with the upgrade. Test it!
My M200 HARD drive doesn't have to (if Windows does not start) and I am replaced with a new HARD drive.
I do not have the recovery discs so I will try to install windows from CD,.
When installing it it does not find new HARD drive.
When I go into the BIOS, I see the HARD drive, but it has a password disk HARD message is frozen.
Has anyone encountered this before?
I have to do something after I installed the new HARD drive?
It seems that the HARD drive password has been set on this HARD drive.
Generally, you cannot remove this password HARD drive if it s not known to you.
So, if you n t know this password HARD drive, then you will not be able to use this HARD drive ;(

After realizing that my original on the G56 - 118 CA hard drive died, I bought a new 'Seagate' Momentus 320 G SATA 16 MB 7200 RPM drive.
