What is the legality of "slipstreaming"?

Hello

Just today, I learned about "slipstreaming".  While I had been very satisfied with WinXP in Parallels Desktop running on my Mac, I decided that for some games it would be better for me running WinXP in Boot Camp.  However, Boot Camp requires at least XP SP2, where my installation disc is completely absent any service pack.  A quick search on the Internet revealed to me that since my XP current disc and the SP2 files I can create a new, full WinXP SP2 installation disc.

However, I am wanting to know: is it legal for me to do this procedure?  Microsoft has always said not to make illegal copies of their records... As "slipstreaming" involves a copy of the contents of an installation disc, is this illegal?  Some have said that as long as you still have valid, lawfully obtained license key (which I have two) that limit you to a PC, there is nothing illegal on "slipstreaming".  Is it true, or is there a provision stating that an installation disc must not be copied anything?  Microsoft has any official declaration about "slipstreaming"?

Yes, "slipstreaming" is perfectly legal. You can copy Microsoft CD/DVD operating system installation as many times as you want. The license is not the physical CD/DVD; This is the product key. You must have a unique product key (or have an appropriate license) for each installation of an operating system of Microsoft.

So you should feel fine to "slipstreaming" and the copy of your installation CD / DVDs. don't worry in this regard. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I have an original Vista of the retail and upgrade for windows 8, so I emailled to know if she is running the operating system that is appropriate with the intention to buy one with a blank HARD drive. Apparently, it does. Despite this, I felt that the seller was a little difficult to get direct answers to so I decided not to buy the device.

I was in stores today and went to our local PC parts store and asked if they had some tablet PCs. Low and behold, they tell me they have this device without BONES. They show it to me and it is the same unit. From what I can tell, they bought one to test his spec out as a customer is interested in a number of them, and he sold now. As I said the HARD drive was BONE white, no doubt, so I bought it. Guaranteed complete (1 year) but cheaper, $70 Great!

To get to my question. When turned on it still shows the Logo Windows 7 splash screen then gives the no boot device error. The drive is empty. It is part of its waste to the bios boot screen. Do I need to worry about this? What is an illegal use of windows left by the questionable BONE logo that has been deleted? Can I change?

    Thanks for your time.

I just reinstall your original Vista on it and use it as a qualification for upgrade license to Windows 8.

What are the options for p-1030 pavion with Windows 7.  I still need a fax of legal documents?

I would like to add a modem fax boarding card.  Is this possible with windows 7 or HP?

    Linda, welcome to the forum.

I suggest try Windows Fax and Scan (Control Panel / devices and printers / Fax) to see if it does what you need.  It allows to send and receive faxes without a fax machine.  When you click fax it will open and give you instructions on how to configure the application.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or not.

Before you sell or give away your computer, and more the steps listed in this article to support, please follow these steps:

    1. run the Diagnostics from Apple or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do (or it should), and you won't be surprised by the results.

    2. reset the PRAM and the SMC, which may contain personal information.

    3. If you set a firmware password, remove it by running the utility in recovery mode firmware password.

    4. If you turn on FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.

    5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.

    6. If you have created another partition of data on internal disk, remove them in disk utility.

    7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the remaining data partition with the possibility of putting the data to zero. An SSD has no need to be set to zero.

    8. remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it is still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the warranty to the new owner as described in the terms and Conditions AppleCare (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

    Note also:

You can legally or transfer almost any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. This includes OS X, so if you've switched to OS X 10.7 or later, you need to reinstall an operating system older, either from the installation media, if any, or by commissioning in recovery mode of the Internet (option-command-R start ringing.)

The new owner will have to re-download everything software that came on the App Store, as appropriate, including updates of OS X, under her Apple ID. If you never updated applications bundled iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band) through the App Store, you can not transfer these either. The buyer must buy them. Note that iPhoto has been suspended and is no longer available for purchase.

  • INTERFACE design - what is the best way to allow the user to define a kind of infusion at various times (non-periodic)?

I want to allow the user to specify a curve like this:

Such as some under - VI shows the A2 value when a variable of time is between R1, A1 when the time variable is between A2 and A3 when time is in the range A3.

    My design looks like this:

With the error checking that looks like this:

My question is, is the approach of the table according to optimal? Otherwise, how could combat this?

I think I can summarize the conversation on this point as a response to the original question (what is the best way...) -to start writing code, to think about what you want to accomplish and write it down (otherwise known as 'Write the first Documentation').  One of the points of a good User Interface is that it is not allow users to "stupid mistakes" - it leads the user "by hand", limiting the entries to the "legal values" and demanding that the entries be made logically.

If you were going to have a list of Infusions to enter, it is therefore logical to decide or not to enter into time intervals (which are always > 0) or order the times (which, logically) are still growing.  You can (and should) decide that you (or you may have a control that allows the user decide, but maybe it's too flexible) and then apply your "rules".

Let's say you've decided on "Intervals" (which seems to me to be more User Friendly).  After the user has entered the intervals (and you've provided a nice plot of perfusion vs. time), pouvez allow you the user to an interval of 'split', 'Delete' an interval, or "Edit the Infusion" interval, or you can decide to have a choice more simple "accept or start again" - If you have only a few intervals, the last would be the simplest (and therefore best) design choice.

Spend more time thinking before coding usually pays Big dividends!

  • If I create a WinPE 2.0 distribution (Syslinux or PXElinux) which will take place on one of the machines running 'something Microsoft' what are the implications of license?

    The WinPE Licensing implications

    Hello

I have a number of customers with machines that are fully licensed with XP, XPe or Vista.
Each of these clients have a device that we have created, piloted by drivers custom within the OS.  The operating system will sometimes funny (corruption, etc.) causing the device to not function.
I decided to create a diagnostic utility to check whether the fault is in the operating system, driver or device.  Because the fault could be deep in the operating system, the only way I can see to do is through WinPE
I searched the net, but can do not seem to arrive at an acceptable legitimate answer... So here's my question.
If I create a WinPE 2.0 distribution, either for CD, USB or chain loaded from Linux (Syslinux or PXElinux) which will take place on one of the machines running 'something Microsoft' what are the implications of license? Is it legal?
Operating system licenses are not owned by us, but our customers if we do not have mass of licensing agreements or something like that.
The plan is to create a unique distribution and add drivers to it that we encounter different machines.  I know it's frowned upon to speak Hirens on a MS site, but something similar to that (I won't use Hirens because I want that it is completely legitimate)
I called him to the reading of the license with WAIK, but can do not seem to find anything about this.
    Thank you

  • What is the importance of the product key?

Product key, Product ID and license key means the same thing?

If I buy a product key online, up to what limit of its used. When it is used for the installation of a pirate operating system or an application like Office 2010, will it work as authentic and that means that the operating system or office application will be transformed into a real? Or what's happening?

The "product ID" is used to identify the product.

The "Product key" to activate the product

The "license" is the legal treams which you accepted during the installation of the product.

Not a good idea to use a pirated version of any software, because it might include certain undesirable characteristics such a keystroke monitors, virus, etc.  Since you have not mentioned the source of pirated software I can't recommend trying to activate it with a valid key.

If you're ready to buy a "Product key" then why not buy the retail box version because it includes as well the installation disks authentic and a product key.  You may need the disc if you need to reinstall the software.

  • What is the loader of windows 7?

    Hi all

I want to know what is the loader of windows 7

a lot of people say that is windows loader is a program that fit to the system a legal original activation data to help in the activation of windows

but also, I do not understand the meaning of the charger and why we name Loader?

Microsoft is to know about this? and how it works?

    is it safe to use?

    waiting for answers

    Is it safe to use?

If you're responsible for coding, Yes.

If you're someone else, probably not.

The problem lies in the fact that the loader of hooks into the system at a very low level and can pretty much do what he likes.

There's a trisk that the encoder has inserted the code to allow access to the system and your data and that he might have the ablity to turn your machine into a on which you have little or no control.

    Stay well clear.

Apart from this, their function breaks the license agreement that you accept when you install Windows, and it automatically turn you into a fraudulent user, who might be sued for damages.

  • What are the requirements to load Windows 7 DSP on an existing PC

    Hi people,

I have an existing PC on which I wish to install Windows 7 OS DSP/OEM.

What is the minimum requirement of the material that I need to upgrade to remain legally compliant?

Some retailers to group the DSP version with a hard drive or a mouse. Is that enough to comply with the requirements of the permit in the DSP/OEM OS?

I would have thought that the requirement would be a new motherboard at least.

Anyone who can shed some light on the obligation to legally charge the DSP/OEM OS on a PC of exisitng?

    Thank you

It would seem that I am not clear.

I know that the hardware requirements to run Windows 7.

The contract of specific DSP/OEM that this version can not be used to upgrade the operating system to an existing PC.

Do I have to replace my existing system while it is considered a new PC and I can then legally load a DSP/OEM operating system.

I don't know how to put it any clearer than that.

    As with any OEM license:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades with the exception of the upgrade to an different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • the legal status of my windows

Excuse me, I would like to ask you a question

[1] if I bought a CD of windows 7 ultimate and I lost the cd but I still have my COA, and I want to reinstall windows on my netbook, it is LEGAL if I DOWNLOAD THE COPY INTACTE DE WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE on the internet and activate it with my license COST? What is the reason? because I have anna use ORIGINAL and LEGAL copy windows :)

[2] if the answer to question 1 St as LEGAL, where can I download the windows 7 ultimate ISO CD?

Thank you for your attention, please respond immediately and Clare as possible

I'm not aware of Netbooks pre-loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate.

The sticker COSTS says Windows 7 Ultimate? If doesn't work, then downloading or obtaining a Windows 7 Ultimate retail installation media will not solve the problems with the license compliance. Unless you actually bought a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate license which you do not have a product key for.

I don't know Netbooks preloaded with Windows 7 Starter, except if you have defined more precisely you want Ultimate pre-installed at the factory.

Unfortunately, your options are limited, because Microsoft no longer provides that Digital River Windows 7 downloads. ISO. So, your options are the following:

-Borrow a Windows 7 Ultimate retail (update or full version) or an OEM System Builder DVD from a friend who has a.

-Try to ask the support of Microsoft backup.

  • What is the difference between Windows 7 OEM and the retail version of Windows 7?

Can someone tell me, what is the difference between windows 7 OEM and sales vs retail?

    On Thu, 20 Sep 2012 19:56:47 + 0000, STEVE-5 says:

Can someone tell me, what is the difference between windows 7 OEM and sales vs retail?

There is no difference in the product itself.

Although if you get a generic OEM full version, it contains the
even software, it has the following disadvantages compared to the
    commercial version:

    1. the biggest drawback of an OEM version (at least in the USA) is
that its license it permanently binds to the first computer, it is
installed on. He can never legally be moved to another computer, sold,
or given (except with the original computer). If the computer
dies or is stolen, your license dies with him.

    2. he can't do a clean install, not an upgrade.

3 Microsoft offers no support for OEM versions. You cannot call their
with a problem, but rather to secure the necessary support of your
OEM; who take in charge may go anywhere between property and non-existent. Or
You can get support elsewhere, like in these forums.

  • What is the VAT number?

    What is the VAT number?

    What is a VAT number?

VAT is the European sales tax (VAT); some clients are exempt from the obligation to pay this tax. They use their VAT number to show that they are exempt.

In most parts of the world, Adobe is legally required to collect sales tax according to the calculations that you see when you buy online. If Adobe does not charge taxes, you are sometimes still required to pay the taxes yourself.

Adobe is registered in many countries for which it is required to charge and collect the VAT/GST. For most of the sales, the rate depends on the country where the goods or services are delivered. In European stores of Adobe, you are charged the appropriate rate of VAT for durable goods and services.

  • What are the factors weight when an application of price... And how to protect my App...

    Hello friends,

As I started with APEX, I did not intend to carry on this way... because I am Cisco certified... but encouraged me helpful to the community people...
Now I'm about to finish an application that doesn't have a lot of PL/SQL or Java scripts... Yet, he is very smart and easy to use (at least I think :)).

How can I assess my application?
In the case, I want to install the application locally for a customer. How can I protect my app. They can easily use the apxchpwd.sql file and drill the App?

Two things, I can tell you:
There is a real need for this app on the market.
In my city, people unaware of APEX.

    Best regards
    Fateh

Find how an application of price is probably out of the scope of this forum. It's a business conversation that requires a lot of information about your application and your target market.

What to protect your app - if you allow someone install your application on their servers and they're determined enough, they can fly. This applies to APEX or any other technology. You can raise the bar a bit in doing things like putting your exclusive logic in stored procedures are apex, which which are wrapped for example or by building a kind of license key. But if someone is determined to hack your app, they will work around some restriction, you put up. And whatever you put in place restrictions may annoy legitimate users. You need to know how much protection is enough and how much you are ready to annoy legitimate clients as to exactly what kind of nefarious things you want to keep and which of these things is better prevented using the technology, rather than the legal agreements as well.

Optionally, you can host your application yourself and simply sell subscriptions rather than to sell software that can be installed on customer servers. This will give you much more control over what users can see and do with your code. But then you are on the hook for the servers running and administration of the system.
