What is the reliability of Plug and Play in Windows 7?
What is the reliability of Plug and Play in Windows 7? I mean he came in windows in Windows 98. Sometimes, when you plug a USB device, you may need a set of 60 seconds to restart your computer. Our company become lazy 60 seconds is too long to wait to use a USB device? It might be a good improvement in the next generation of Windows operating systems, but is it reliable, Plug and Play in Windows 7? Any ideas?
There is a finite amount of drivers that can be incorporated into Windows such as Windows recognizes the device. In addition, device manufacturers must submit the drivers to Microsoft to incorporate into Windows at construction time. Out of the box Plug and Play does not work for all possible configurations of hardware.
Windows 7 Service pack 1 is released in 2010, the last chance for drivers to be incorporated into the build. Devices with their own hardware ID, which were released after the construction cannot be identified automatically and must, by definition, provide the required drivers for the start install but after that, they should recognize the device automatically. Although the USB 3 specification has been ratified by little around the time of the release of Windows 7 more material supporting this specification came out that shortly after. Windows 7 does not natively support USB 3.
Windows 7 of Plug-and-Play support works very well, but depends on the hardware manufacturer provides drivers reliable and other support files when it comes to new hardware. Your problem is not with Windows, but your reception units. Windows 7 is now disabled standard support.

HARD drive external, Toshiba PX1395E, not plug and play in Windows XP
Hi all
Thanks for reading this.
Just bought a number of HDD 2.0 USB 750 GB external PX1395E.
I want to use to back up files from my old computer to my new computer.
In fact, my old pc recognizes the HARD drive (plug-and-play) and I already copied the required data.BUT: my new computer, with Windows XP Professional, Service pack 3. Does NOT recognize the HARD drive.
I used several (versions 1.1 and 2.0) USB ports and everything is connected to the way that it should.
Windows tells me that I have plugged 'something', but is unable to recognize what it is and I can't use the material.I think I need a driver to make this work. Site Web de Toshiba does not provide this particular driver (I checked, but it cannot find).
Is there anyone with a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Do you see the HARD drive in the disk management?

I also encountered the same problem with a new sandisk sansa mp3 player recently. It was recognized instantly on another computer running Vista.
However, I have an eternal hardrive of WD and a recognized on my laptop XP Trendnet USB wireless adapter. In my view, that all have two drivers I installed earlier however.
In the end, I believe not to be able to use the Plug-and-Play devices despite them being listed as compatible with XP.
I removed the devices, restarted, nothing helps. Unknown poster USB 2.0 Device Manager hub and 2 other unknown devices. I uninstalled the unknown devices in Device Manager and do it again, but no change.
Don't know what other information I should include. Any help please, I'm at a loss what to tackle next.

How can I reinstall the non-plug-and-play drivers that I have uninstalled mistakeningly?
I have a Dell Inspiron and recently started having random blue screens, close down and the inability to get out of hibernation with her. I ran Microsoft Security databases, and he is found to have viruses Alureon.A, whom he said he eliminated, but when running - it again, it was in Quarentine. Tried to get into SafeMode w / networking to remove and it quarentined again. Return to normal and it works, it shows up again!
I did some research on Google and found another way to remove it by devmgmt.msc and could not find the file that it supposed to delete. A next post had a list of non-plug-and-play drivers, and I misread this post and uninstalled the files he had. Reading - it a second time, they were not the drivers to uninstall! So now I uninstalled the drivers, that I should not have, and I'm afraid to turn it back on. What should I do? Is there anyway I can get these drivers or is it easier to reinstall Windows Vista all together and fix the drivers and get rid of the virus?I was also unable to update Windows with this virus, with MSE.
Accidentally uninstalled files were:
A sound signal
HTTP
NDIS system driver
NDProxy
Null value
RDPCDD
Remote Access Auto Connection Driver
VgaSaveFirst of all, I recommend you download and run the program below. It's the only one I found that systematically identifies and removes infections Alureon.
How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?
http://support.Kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?QID=208280684
So, I see two possibilities. Sfc/scannow in an elevated command prompt might reapair missing files and is worth a try.
If this fails, try the system restore. It is a risk and could fail and possibly further damaging the system. If If is running it will probably restore the infection as well. In this case, restart TDSSKiller and other malware analysis.
Although I always discover a wipe and reinstallaton ultimately, it may turn out to be necessary in your case.

EliteBook 8540p: is the engraver of DVD 595759-001 for Elitebook 8540p plug-and-play
I have a DVD ROM drive, only in my 8540p here, and I just ordered a DVD (595759-001) burner to replace it with. Just install the hardware? Is this going to be a plug-and-play experience, or I need to find drivers for the replacement? Do I need to uninstall the driver for the original DVD ROM?
Hello
The driver for any optical drive is provided by Windows, then you should just connect the new device, but it can sometimes avoid problems by doing this as follows.
Hold down the Windows key and press R. In the run box, type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER. Expand the DVD/CD = ROM readers, made existing right click the device and choose uninstall.
Once completed, stop the laptop and made the new optical drive.
When you start Windows, then, give it a few minutes to load completely and you should find the new drive is running.
Kind regards

How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play?
How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play? I tried to disable the driver, and nothing works.
Hello
Check with support of the manufacturer system, documentation online or forums that there is probably
Shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.Parameters for TouchPad located in the control panel - mouse (there may be several tabs with TouchPad entered)
and some come with a utility that loads in the Notification area next to the clock in the bottom right.==========================================
If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)
Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET
This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad from working.
The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.
Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.
I hope this helps.
