What metadata are cooked in the vs file stored on the XMP file?

I have read articles and even the cc manual and learned that some of the metadata is cooked in the file itself, I have to confirm that (which don't have the manual, but I am parinoid I read as bad now), as well as understand what information is. Reason: The company that I work has had problems with files that have been moved around location and I hope that the bridge is the answer for that. So if the information is cooked in the file itself, and the file is moved, a quick search in bridge will always evoke the file. Thank you for your time.

Hi akjackson,

> The company I work for has had problems with files that have been moved around location and I hope that the bridge is the answer for that. >

You can see for yourself in Bridge by selecting "View > Show Hidden Files." The XMP files are sidecar that store settings for the raw files of most of the cameras. Files NEF or CR2, for example, will the XMP file in the folder even if you kept the default Camera Raw default preference to save the settings of the image in .xmp sidecar files. If you copy or move your file to another location, however, the XMP file will go with it. Just do not use the option to save the image to a database of Camera Raw settings if you want to be as sure as possible that metadata from anywhere that the file will go. The XMP file should not be visible to travel even if you are burning a DVD with the main file, or move it on a network. It will simply go with the parent file.

Nothing can be written as a normal raw file, so the XMP file is needed. However, you can save in the DNG raw with your changes intact Camera Raw, as well as key words that you've added, without losing your XMP data. DNG is a special wrapper that keeps the file raw inside.  Other file formats also store metadata in the file itself, rather use the XMP sidecar files.

So basically, if your business loses its files, it really has nothing to do with the XMP sidecar files. It has to do with the not not using metadata, including keywords, to search for files, and/or a good system to organize the files themselves within your network. Bridge, btw, can only see the drives that are connected, so make sure that you do not send your files offline readers and optical media, and bridge to know where they are still waiting. It will not. If you need that, you need a digital asset manager.

If you are still feeling paranoid, or need to prove to your bosses (that is the company, after all), prove it to yourself by the fire from the Finder, a DVD with files camera raw, DNG, JPEG, TIFF, etc. files, after adding keywords or make changes to the image files. Remove the DVD and put it into another computer running the bridge. You have moved the files and you should be able to see their metadata always there, and files camera raw will have their files XMP on the DVD if show you hidden files in the bridge while viewing.

  • What layer are FI in the Cisco hierarchical network design model?

What layer are FI in the Cisco hierarchical network design model?

Is this a straigh question? We have a Nexus 7 k for our heart and Port-channel of the FI for them. So for me it layer distribution.

But when we attach to the NAS. Isilon devices we use between the FI and N7K N3K. This would make the N3K and FI both part of the Distribution layer? Would not be considered layer. However, it does not ACL etc. which usually belong to the Distribution layer.

I was wondering thoughts people on it. Is the UCS FI and 'One Off' in the model of 3 layer?

    Thank you!

    Craig

FI can sit to your dist layer. or access.  I've seen deployments where they are deployed at the same time, depending on the size of the cluster of the UCS and band network bandwidth. The distribution layer is usually to be where all the magic of layer 3 arrives (routing, ACL, QoS, FW, application of strategies etc.) and UCS being strictly Layer 2, it could be classified as a device to access-layer.

Designs are flexible and as long that you consider oversubscription adjusted, you should be fine with the deployment option.

I hope that others will share their ideas

    Kind regards

  • What functions are part of the OLAP option, and what is considered "standard SQL"?

    Hello

11.2 Enterprise Edition without OLAP license.

Where can I find what functions are part of the OLAP option, which I'm not allowed to use without the extra cost of option?

Not sure, what comes to my mind is such function as LISTAGG, CUBE, PARTITION BY and the like, but I would like a complete set so that we can ask our developers to avoid using functions that require an additional license.

    Thanks in advance

None of the ones you mention are part of the OLAP option.

The official license https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/license.112/e47877.pdf document describes which includes the option.

If you do not have him a license, then just make sure that it is not installed in the databases you create.

  • What databases are available on the BB? How can I access it desktop?

    Hi all

Please can someone tell what databases are available or possible to maintain on the BlackBerry Curve 8300? Is it possible to have .csv files separated by commas.

Secondly, how can I access these databases on a device that uses the resident program on the desktop?

    Thank you.

We do similar things to what you seem to want, with data on a BlackBerry.  We have the client software on the BlackBerry that synchronize data with the server.  The server can push updates, but this only (currently at least) works in a BES environment.  Once the data are extensive, the application program that receives the data can do what he wants with it, including be persisted.

If you don't want to write all of this, then I would look at Sybase offer.

See the httppushdemo comes with the JDE for an example of PUSH to work.

  • How to see what metadata are in conflict

Today, I found a photo that shows a conflict of metadata in LR. There is absolutely no reason, there should be a conflict, but let's leave that aside for now and focus on how to solve that LR may think wrong.

I am presented two options: use the LR metadata or metadata from the photo. I can live with that, IF I know what's in the two sets of metadata. Then, I choose the one I want. Otherwise, the message would be practically useless.

I asked the question several years back and told me that there were many requests for it. This incorporated LR5? I have not spotted.

    grits5 wrote:

Consider a path of potentially of low resistance: If you have not changed outwardly, and the photo looks OK in Lightroom, just record and forget the conflict. (I have disabled indicators and therefore ignore the thoughts of all Lr on the subject - they caused more stress to be useful - YMMV).

If you really want to see a list of the differences between the settings of catalog and metadata and xmp on disc, I recommend using the "Compare Catalog on disk" function of ChangeManager.

Google "' s Rob Cole ChangeManager Lightroom Plugin" to find.

If you prefer to evaluate changes without using ChangeManager, consider:

    * Rename sidecar xmp

    * Save again the xmp metadata

    * Compare the xmp sidecar files using the text compare utility.

If xmp is incorporated, you must extract all first use exiftool (or plugin xEmP).

(+ 1 vote for option sidecar xmp for all types of files)
