  • What version of MS Visio will open the old files Visio 4.0 Tech?

    I started using Visio 4.0 Tech, when Win95 came out and he used occasionally through Windows XP. When I updated to a Windows 7, 64-bit, I could install is no longer the program. The Visio Viewer program, says the files are too old. How can I update the .vsd files and the Viewer does not work?

    Question...

    Have you tried this:

    Run the CDSETUP. Program EXE on the CD with administrator privileges (right click, run as administrator) and after setting the compatibility mode for Windows 98 first for the file.

    Once installed, you'll want to set the compatibility on the executable file that starts the application for Windows 98 and run as administrator.  If you do not do this, the program may freeze at the splash screen.

    Also, make sure that everyone (all users) have full write access to the directory C:\Program Files (x 86) \Visio\.

    The 64-bit may be the end problem...

  • Why Windows asking me what program to open a JNLP file with after you have installed Java?

    I'm having a problem with a Web site that uses the Java Web Starter program to launch an application.

    I use Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit and IE9. I also tried this on 10 IE and Chrome and had the same problem. I am running update of Java 7 21, which, at the time of this writing, is the latest version of Java available. I only have this problem on a computer.

    When I go on the Web site, a window wonder if I want to open, save, or cancel a file called Meeting.JNLP. If I open it, he asks me to choose a program to open it with. When I navigate to javaws.exe in the Java folder in program files, I have highlighted, click Open, and then I went back to the "Choose a program" screen, but the Starter Web Java program does not appear as a choice. I can choose other Java executables from the same folder, and they appear in her choose a program window, but not the Starter Web Java program.

    I can actually force the application to start if I do a "save under" on this original popup, then go to a command prompt and use javaws.exe , and in fact, it will launch the application. However, I need to function normally, directly from the Web site.

    I tried to reinstall Java 5 or 6 times. Each post on the forum I find dealing with these issues of file association told me to use the file Association in the Control Panel, which is exactly what does not work. It seems that the installer is all simply not able to associate the program Java Web Starter of JNLPs. is it possible I can force a new association to file through the command line or the registry?

    Thank you!

    Thanks Jessen, earlier this morning, I found the assoc and ftype commands and managed to force the association in this way. I did this from an elevated command prompt:

    ftype JNLPFile = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe" '%1 '.

    .Jnlp Assoc = JNLPFile

    And that the file is associated. Thank you for your response.

  • Photoshop cs3 will open jeg, but files not raw for k3 pentax cameras.  Can you please help.

    Photoshop cs3 does not open raw (PEF) for cameras pentax k3 files, can you please help?

    Hi Davet,

    In order to open Pentax K-3 RAW files in Photoshop, you must at least Camera Raw 8.3 and above.

    However Photoshop CS3 will be unable to update until that Camera Raw 8.3

    Then I suggest you download DNG Converter, convert the PEF files to the DNG file format, and then use in Photoshop.

    Kind regards

  • Open a pdf file to a specific location

    Dear friends,

    I would like to support a dialog with a help button that needs to open a pdf file to a specific location, is defined by number of page or (better) by named Destination.

    var helpFile = File($.fileName.replace (/\.jsx(?:bin)?$/i , ".pdf"));
    OpenPDF (helpFile, "FMcalccalculations"); // named dest = M8.newlink.FMcalccalculations

    function OpenPDF (fileName, destination) {
      if (fileName.exists) {
        fileName.execute("nameddest=M8.newlink." + destination);
      }
    }

    This is to open the pdf file on the first page.

    How can I pass parameters - not knowing what pgm will open the pdf file (depending on the installation of the user)?

    I've seen (IMHO) using an intermediary VBscriptthat crunch, but I have not yet tested this approach. As far as I understand that this would imply a VSscript for each destination in the pdf file.

    All ideas are wolcome.

    Klaus

    Well, friends, I found a solution on StackOverflow.com: in German, we say such a solution 'von fun druch die brust projectiles' fur.

    ExtendScript:

    // Open PDF at named destination

    var theFile = "PDFwithDestination.pdf"; // for my case: in same path as this script
    var destination = "M8.newlink.FMcalcseries" // needs to be found in pdf, because the 8 is not a constant
    OpenPdfAtDestination (theFile, destination);

    function OpenPdfAtDestination (pdfFile, namedDestination) { // ====================================
    var path = GetScriptPath () + "\\";
    var location = "nameddest=" + namedDestination; // see "Parameters for Opening PDF Files"

    // Call OpenPdfWithParameters, according to
    // http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20862868/file-execute-is-not-executing-my-script-how-to-debug-this-issue/20863131#20863131
    // A workaround to pass arguments is to create another file, that calls this script with arguments.
    // Yawar 2015-03-15

    // Create the calling batch file
    var tempFile = File (path + "tempScript.bat");
      tempFile.open("w");
      tempFile.encoding = "UTF-8";
      tempFile.writeln (path + "OpenPdfWithparameters.exe " + '/A ' + location + ' "' + path + pdfFile + '"');
      tempFile.close();
      tempFile.execute ();
      tempFile.delete;
    }

    function GetScriptPath () { //=====================================================================
    // Get the script path
    // Returns path in the function
      var scrPath, newPath, winPath, lastBSlash;

    // $.fileName: script path (including the file-name of the script)
    // platform independent format e.g. /e/_DDDprojects/FM+EN-escript/escript
      scrPath = $.fileName;
      winPath = new File (scrPath);
      scrPath = winPath.fsName;                       // get Windows format
      lastBSlash = scrPath.lastIndexOf("\\");         // \ needs escaping
      scrPath = scrPath.substring(0, lastBSlash);
      return scrPath;                                 // no final \ !
    } // --- end GetScriptPath

    AutoHotKey script - must be converted into an exe file:

    ; OpenPdfWithParameters.ahk
    ; 2016-04-15 Klaus Daube

    ; Get the arguments from the caller (works only in compiled version!)
    parmList =
    Loop, %0% ; For each parameter:
    {
      param := %A_Index%
      parmList = %parmList% `n%param%
    }
    ; MsgBox, Number of parameters: %0%`n%parmList%

    ; let's find the relevant application
    RegRead, sDefaultApp, HKCR, .pdf
    RegRead, sDefaultAct, HKCR, %sDefaultApp%\shell
    RegRead, sDefaultCommand, HKCR, %sDefaultApp%\shell\%sDefaultAct%\command
    StringTrimRight, command, sDefaultCommand, 5 ; remove the "%1"
    ; MsgBox %command%                      ; "H:\Adobe\Acrobat11\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"

    ; open the pdf with the parameters according to "Parameters for Opening PDF Files"
    Run, %command% %parmList%

    This works, however a flicker is created due to the execution of the batch file.

  • Adobe will open PageMaker 6.5 files?

    Adobe Acrobat will open the PageMaker 6.5 files?

    Just for the record, "Adobe" is the name of the company. "Acrobat" is the name of the software which you post to the form.

    Not to mention that Pagemaker, the only program that will open a pagemaker file is InDesign CS6. From there, you can export the file to PDF, you can then open in Acrobat.

    Create a marker of Hypertext newe "Go to URL".

    Change the text of the marker for example:

    message URL file://C:/users

    This will open the folder C:\users with Windows Explorer.

    At least it worked on my PC.

  • Satellite C660 - Touchpad pointing out everything on what it will

    I have a problem with my C660 satellite with the Synaptics touchpad V7.2 sensitivity. The cursor keeps pointing out everything on what he will and by dragging files or programs, or open them.

    He drives me crazy and restore to an earlier date does not, or not clicking on deactivate to tap into the Synaptics or returning to default properties box.

    Anyone out there able to help?

    Hello

    Try to install the latest Synaptics driver from Synaptics driver page:
    http://www.Synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

    In addition, you can adjust the touchpad settings in Control Panel-> mouse-> device-> settings button settings

    Here you will find many different options that would improve the functionality of the touchpad.

    Hello Nangle,

    I suggest you download the Word Viewer because it will open and print files works even if you do not have Microsoft Works installed.

    View, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't have Word installed. This download is a replacement for Word Viewer 2003 and all previous Word Viewer versions.

  • InDesign book, synchronization, opening a single file

    Re: IDCC

    Question 1

    One of the .indb files I created has about 20 + individual .indd files. Whenever I have an amendment to a single .indd and then save it, .indb automatically starts a synchronization process and I can't do anything until it is complete.

    I like to leave the file open book when I'm working, but this automatic synchronization impeded my work process.

    Is it possible for me to stop the automatic synchronizaton?

    I looked at different areas of the program, and if the option is present, have neglected and I also looked in the help, and if it's there, I missed it there, too.

    Question 2

    Quite often, when I try to open a single document in a book, ALL the individual documents of open book.

    What steps should I take to make sure I have as a single document in a book and not accidentally open each of them?

    Thank you

    1,

    In the Panel menu book (upper-right of the Panel book) you can choose 'Book Page Numbering Options... '. »

    And disable automatic updates.

    2.

    Make sure that you have only one selected file. Sometimes if you have several files selected and open a file from the book panel will open all selected files.

    Take your time in selecting the document in the Panel - and carefully double-tap.
