What RAM to install on Satellite M70 - 131?

I was planning on upgrading my laptop to 2 GB memory. I found on the toshiba site that my M70 is compatible with DDR2 pc2 4300, but I already bought DDR2 pc2 4200 Kingston (I did not check on the toshiba site before I bought it - my mistake).

Can I install it on my laptop? It will damage my laptop if I install it?

I found that the DDR2 pc4200 is compatible on M70 - 131 when I searched on the internet but I am confused and worried if I should install it or not.

It looks like the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM memory modules are compatible too.
http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=20471&ft=m&St=3

I guess than the memory PC2-4300 speed 667 Mhz module support. Both types of modules must be compatible.

  • Satellite M70-131 - I want to add more RAM

    Hello

    I have a Satellite M70-131
    Part number: PSM70E-01500RAR

I want to add more RAM, because I know you have to check three points to buy a new:
    -How can I add?
    -The type of RAM?
-The number of the BIOS or BUS?

I'm not sure about the third point, I know that I can add to 2G, and the type of RAM is DDR2.
But if I have the right point, how can I check the number (BIOS or BUS)? Because I tried to add one, but did ' t work!

    Help me please
    Thnx 4 all

    Hello!

The Satellite M70-131 can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM and you have already said you need DDR2 RAM.
Specification for RAM is DDR2 400/533 and you can add two modules with 1 GB of capacity of each module. The reference is PA3411U-1M1G.

What do you mean with many BUS and BIOS? This has nothing to do with an upgrade of RAM.

    Good bye

    Hello Peter

I don't really know what you are missing, but the fact is that on the Toshiba download page you can find the document Instructions of facilities. All you need to do is install all the things listed here and in the exact order. After having done that, everything should work well.

I M70 - 159 and using the same document I installed Windows XP Home edition successfully.

BTW: I'm not sure at 100%, but maybe you lack driver for 5 in 1 card reader (driver cardbus).

Anywhere I can download all the drivers for my M70-131?

    Hello

You can download the drivers from the Toshiba site:

On this site you must choose this Satellite model Satellite M70-131 (PSM70E).

But on the unit, you should find an option called create CD-ROMs Drivers & tools.
This option, you should find in the Toshiba Assist utility.

  • Satellite M70-131 supports resolution 1920 x 1200

    Hello friends!

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite M70-131.
Recently I bought HP LP24645 wide screen TFT monitor.

Unfortunately, my Toshiba does not support the required resolution of 1920\1200. He has only 1600/1200. Monitor driver is installed. Video card driver is updated. But nothing for good.

Pls is there any meaning the BIOS update?
I know that it is an official recommendation of Toshiba support, but I would like to know for sure if she will not solve the problem because I am not advanced user and this must be done in the case that I need to seek assistance from qualified people.

    Hello

In your case, I recommend to check the user's manual if the 1920 x 1200 external resolution is supported by the graphics card.

    First check!

PS: updates the BIOS will not help you to get this resolution if it s not supported by the GPU and graphics driver

    Hello!

My all-new M70 - 131, PSM70E-01500QG3 model supplied with adapter with part number: PA3396E-1ACA. I read on the support site, the adapter must be: PA3468E-1AC3
This adapter works fine and the battery charge ok. I just want to ask if PA3396E-1ACA should work with M70-131 without any problem? I mean what AC adapter / CC you on M70 - 131?

Thank you very much in advance!
    Kind regards
    Alex,

    Hello

Usually, you use the Toshiba power adapter recommended.
I also found information on the Toshiba options & Accessories site you should use the AC adapter PA3468E-1AC3.

As far as I know, this adapter supports supported 19V, 3. 95A, 75W, 3 pins.
Well, this property must be all the adapters that you use on this laptop.

  • Re: Satellite M70-131 - RAM and CPU upgrade

    Hello, I have 2 questions:
1 is it possible to install more then 2048 MB RAM in M70 - 131. If someone tried this?
    2. is it possible to install the new processor of M70 - 131? Now, i've got Pentium M (750) 1, 86GHz (Dothan, 533 MHz). Can I install for example Pentium M (780) 2.26 GHz or higher?

    Hello

The M70 supports max 2 GB of RAM and upgrade the CPU is usually not possible and undesirable for different reasons.
In most cases the overheating is the main reason why you shouldn't t try to upgrade the processor. Secondly, the BIOS was not designed to handle the different processors and no one will be able to tell if your cell phone will work stable after an upgrade of the CPU.

You want to upgrade RAM on my Toshiba M70 - 131. Should I go for two modules of 1 GB each, or perhaps a single 2 GB module is a better option?

In my view there is no difference. You can use the 2 x 1 GB RAM module. Be just as you use compatible products and quality.

I searched the forum and found many threads on Sat M70 and HDD upgrade.
    Check this thread:

The Satellite M70 (any sub-model is) seems supports the SATA HDD controller and, therefore, you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

But as mentioned in the other thread, you could install a hardware diagnostic tool to ensure what controller it s is exactly.
    But I think it's a s SATA
