  The Intel matrix storage manager contains the SATA driver that is needed to recognize the HARD drive and install XP on your laptop.
  You can use the external floppy drive floppy to include the SATA driver in the program XP installation, or you can create your own XP CD which includes the Intel Matrix Storage Manager too.

  I had some problems using the external floppy drive too and that's why I chose the second option. I used nLite freeware program to create an own XP CD with SATA drivers. It s really great. You must test it too.

  It's different because some models are delivered with 5400 RPM and another with 4200 RPM. But the number of laps REALLY don't make any difference. You have more performance with a disk 5400 RPM because the difference are milliseconds and won´t you even recognize it.
