What to do if Windows Update tells you is not to turn it off?

ThinkPad notebook, 8 GB + 160 GB, 23 GB of free space.  Windows 7 Professional.  There have been 1 year, no problem (I mean, other then his annoying keyboard and features :-).  This afternoon, Windows Update apparently context downloaded an update, because the button turn off was the tip "install updates and shutdown".  As I was leaving anyway, I clicked Shutdown (I do probably once out of every 5 Windows updates, which occur during the day instead of at night, when it restarts on its own).  16:25, he went in the "if it please do not turn off or unplug your machine.  Installation of the update 1 of 1... "The two points move in one space every three seconds and the drive light will do its usual slow flash every now and then.  It was in this mode for 2.5 hours.

First of all, I would like to make a point which it is planned to install updates (i.e. numbers KB).

Then I had to stop anyway, restart & run a manual check for updates to see if I could install this way instead.

If one or more updates are an update of the .NET Framework, I would install it separately then return & install the rest of them.

And if the updates was an option, not the security update, I had read the article associated with this topic. If I don't think that my system needed, I was hiding it.

YMMV.

After carefully installing Windows 7, Windows update tells me that I must install a critical update for the graphics card to Nvidia 9600 m GS on my Touchsmart, but every time I start the process, the download fails with the error code 80070005. Hi Pops1148,

    ·         Is the question not confined with updated Microsoft Office?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You can follow the steps in the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and check if it works.

Troubleshooting Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910339

Method 2: Try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    a. click Startand type cmd in the box start the search .

    b. right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click run as administrator.

    c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    File system (CFS) Checker

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true

Method 3: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
Follow these methods mentioned below and check.

    Method 1:
I suggest you to check if you are able to access Windows Update service and ensure that the following services are started. If it is not started, follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, type services.msc without the quotes and press ENTER.
    b. search Windows Update.
    c. right-click on the service and select Properties.
    d. in startup type, select Enable.
    e. Click Start under the service status.
    f. click OK.
Repeat steps c through f for the following services:

If the steps do not help to solve the problem, you can go ahead with the methods mentioned below and check.
    Method 2:
Your anti-virus software is in conflict with Windows updates. You can test this by temporarily disabling your antivirus software. Check out the following link.
    Disable the antivirus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
    Method 3:
The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/
    Method 4:

    Hello

    1. which Microsoft Fixit did you?

2 have you installed new hardware or software before the show?

    3. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

4 update you are trying to install?

    5. are you logged on as administrator on the computer?

If this isn't the case, I suggest you to log on as an administrator and check for the issue.

    Method 1:
One of the other reason for the 80070005 error is caused by software running on your computer security.
Temporarily disable the security software on the computer and see if that makes a difference.
    Disable the anti-virus software

Access may be denied if you have logged on to the computer as a standard user and this account does not have permission to install updates. I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

dkafox1 lost all THE WINDOWS updates that THEY ARE NOT INSTALLED UPDATES, more problems with windows update. May HAVE a PROBLEM WITH REGISTRATION BUT DO KNOW NOT if this msi I HAVE HELPED.

I have windows 7 x 64 Version 6.1.7600.16385. My windows update has only downloaded and installed a fix (KB947821 on 22/03/14. In the event err log # 2147942487command line: "C\:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WUSA '". "»» "EXE" "Windows Update Troubleshooter said" search for missing or corrupted files. I did a sfc/scannow and everything was fine, that the settings are incorrect... Went to computer management by looking at the windows log. Event ID was found in respect of the implementation of 3. Looks like I've lost all my updates. Window update is only showing KB947821 HOT of difficulty. All my other downloading updates for the past two weeks included Microsoft Office Update that I can't see anything there all gone. I check the installed updates and 14 updates that don't settle all gone. Windows Update indicates any problem or error #. It says Windows update installed "Never". I tried the solution to the difficulty of corruption problems MSI software update registration. Help I don't know where to go from here. I ran the windows Memory Diagnostic tool, which came with no error. In the community he sent me to back registry which I do not know how to do. Can I save on my hard drive or another source. He says type reedit32.exe. I have the windows 7 registry editor wants me to save the registry key or subkey > I do not know what files to back up or export. I'm not computer savvy, but I do what I can do better. Had problems with windows update not install and now not download or install 2 MOS. So where and how can I know what updates I need after that this problem is corrected.  Thank you

If you want Office 2007 updates to appear in the installed updates again, you would need to uninstall/reinstall Office 2007 and install all the updates again.

Assuming that Office 2007 is installed & working properly and no update is offered when you run a manual check for updates now, you might want to leave enough alone (that is, do nothing) - then see if the 2 updates for Office 2007 SP3 be released next Tuesday (a) receive, (b) successfully install and (c) are listed in the installed updates later.

PS: The possible causes of the problem are messing with registry cleaners, messing around with the Software Distribution folder, and the fact that it was a computer refurbished when you bought it.

    Hello

First, perform a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

When windows has completely recharged, download and apply the update for the capacitive band on the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53501-54000/sp53677.exe

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

If the WLAN led still default to off, try reinstalling your driver wireless using Recovery Manager - the procedure to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

    Recovery Manager - Windows 7

After reinstalling, restart the computer again.

    Hello

You must download the file [.7z] 1 and 2 [.exe] file. Once downloaded, keep both files in the same folder.

Then run the .exe file and it will extract the CS6 Installer for you. With which you can install your software CS6.
