Since you're running Vista... I suspect that you run Windows

There is some info on the executable files on the following link:

    Hello

You probably don't need to know what version of Windows, but the Panel of configuration/system will tell you if you are interested. There will probably be a sticker on the laptop (not the one that you can not read, under the cover near the mouse pad), which you said, but I guess you could have peeled off.

Look at this link for how to do a system reinstall...

In addition, if provided with the laptop or you recovery disks burn them for yourself these should also do the job.

Before do you a re-install back up your data you can restore it later. You will also need to re - install the software that was installed after purchase.

  • Windows Storage: what version of windows and updated to reflect later

    Hello

I am very new to Windows storage space. I have a few questions:

    1. what version of Windows is the best (only for storage purposes): 8.1 Windows Client, Windows Server R2 Windows Server 2012 Essentials 2012?

    2. in the scenario that I have only 1 HDD now for this. My ultimate goal is to have a mirror put in place when I could buy another drive. Is it possible to go game now and add another disk to mirror later? Do I have to re - format the drive being installed with the new disk mirrored do? Any instructions somewhere?

    Thank you

    Bao.

This system, which is used for?  Business with several users who connect or personal?

That would certainly answer your questions...

Personally, I still hope an array of material on all the rest.  Just as software RAID could you create a mirror RAID with through previous editions of products 'professional or better' Windows - space storage is always based software. ;-)

    With the help of Google:
    https://www.Google.com/search?q=use+storage+spaces+to+create+mirror

Probably, that's what you're looking for (according to ISO how you asked, etc.):

    ... and...

    http://helpdeskgeek.com/Windows-8/create-RAID-like-data-backup-using-storage-spaces-Windows-8/

Not to complicate things.  It is really as easy as adding the physical drive and selecting the one-way glass, given what you have so far.

Of course - backups should always be verified (image of the system if possible) before doing anything.  While you might lose data by READING this for various reasons - you increase the risk when you start to play with the data in real time.  ;-)

    What can I do?

    Hello

    1. which edition of Windows are you using? Is - this edition is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Given that the game is compatible with Windows 7, I suspect that the conflict can be 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
The link below shows the compatibility of this game with Windows 7.

    Method 1.
We must ensure that the edition of the game must correspond with the operating system.
If you use 64-bit in this game, you need the 64-bit Windows to install it.
    Method 2.
If the above information matching I you recommend to start the computer in clean condition and then try to install the game.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

I seem to be having problems when you try to install a program on my Windows 7 that allows to launch on my Windows XP and Windows Vista. I used the tool to solve compatibility problems and selected these settings in the CONFIGURATION file, but nothing seems to work the error message I get is as follows:

"This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Check your computer's system information to see if you need a x 86 (32 bit) or x 64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. »

Is it possible to set my computer to allow this program to run successfully? Any solution would be greatly useful.

    Hello Rdforbe,

The problem is a software that was created for Windows 95, 98, and Windows XP has no way to work correctly with an operating system that didn't even exist when the software was written. However, the error message you get normally means that you have a 32-bit software that you are trying to install on a 64-bit system.

To find out if your computer is running 32-bit Windows or 64-bit, follow these steps:
System opened by clicking on the button start , by clicking on the Control Panel, click System.
Under system, you can view the system type. This will describe if you have 32-bit or 64-bit.

You can also try compatibility mode.

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com), or any other software virtualization part 3rd and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can find the virtualization software free that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

I have a laptop / Tablet Toshiba M700 with Vista Business.  Toshiba support told me that Windwos 7 will support my Tablet/handwriting recognition capabilities but not Windows 8.  What version of Windows 7 is what I need?

The Tablet features are available in all editions of Windows 7 except the Starter edition.  Given that you cannot upgrade Vista to Starter - as far as I know, you need not worry.  ;-)

Determine what you need by other factors:
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions#Comparison_chart

If you have "Vista Business"--> to make a direct upgrade without loss of settings/software installed (for the most part-in any case to make backups - be smart on this topic) you need to get one of the following editions of Windows 7:

    Professional, company, full

... and since it is unlikely that you will get a copy of 'Business' for your personal system (hypothesis- but you doesn't look like not you upgrading a bunch of them, nor did the expression to make me think, "IT staff"...) you would need one of these two editions:

    Professional or ultimate edition

    https://www.Google.com/search?q=%22Windows+7+Professional+Edition%22#q=%22Windows+7+Professional+Edition%22&TBM=shop

The first is probably more than enough.  New - Look at the table...
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions#Comparison_chart

Good luck.  Don't forget to download and have ready all your drivers for hardware devices made for Windows 7 by the manufacturer of your computer (Toshiba) and/or manufacturers of individual components to install after having upgraded.  Non - Microsoft did not or they take over your hardware somehow - they made the operating system, he returned to write drivers that interface with every operating system they wish their device working properly on the manufacturers material and up to the end user to install in a scenario such as the one you are proposing to us business.

Looks like the copy of Windows 7, you were trying to install from Windows XP Home Edition is a 64-bit version.

You will need to boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:
    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
