What wireless card I have in my Satellite A40

Hi all

I got a Toshiba Satalite Pro A 40 a friend (PSA45E)

Windows XP has been pretty slow I decided to reinstall the OS and now have a problem to install the wireless card

For the moment, I have Windows XP (without Service Pack, which should be the first version that was on sale, I guess) but can't install the wireless network adapter

I tried several times to toggle the map with the FN key, but Windows does not. Also the Device Manager does not list any unknown device or wireless card. So I do not know who the card is now installed

I'm very sure I saw some SSID with the old windows before you install the new Windows

now I'm wondiring if I can download recovery CD from the WEB or find a free software that can read the material on a PC, even if the drivers are missing, to see if the card responds.

Also, I noticed that he was in the back of the computer laptop and the MAC on the network card on a sticker. Tosiba does not have a sticket with the WLAN MAC on the back?

Where would I be able to find a manual to physically locate the mini-pci card?

Thank you
Chris

Hi Polly

I think you have the wrong of my knowledge the A40 Satellite Pro does not support the wireless network card. There is no installed wireless network card and that's why you find no WLan MAC address sticker at the bottom of the unit.

The Satellite Pro A40 can't be improved with a wireless network card internal minPCI because as much as I know the WLan antenna is not available.

If you want to use the Wlan then I would recommend as an external option, it could be an external USB WiFi key.

    Hello

Have you checked the Device Manager? I think that here you can find a s information on your subject of an integrated graphics card.
The second possibility is the use of the DirectX tool. Please enter in the window RUN the dxdiag command. Then the directx should appear, and you will find the detailed description on the graphics card and the properties.

But as far as I know that the Tecra M4 has been delivered with nVIDIA GeForce FX Go6200 64 MB or 128 MB card nVIDIA GeForce Go6600 FX.

  • Satellite A30 (PSA30E - 1896C-EN) what wireless card

    Hi all
Having rebiult my A30, with your help, I'm looking to install a wireless card. The user manual says: "Mini-PCI card. But does not specify the size (and yet some providers seem to have different sizes for the mini-PCI). Furthermore, by reading the existing threads, they seem to suggest keeping an eye on "n" standard (forthcoming).

Can you describe the key points that I have to watch out for when buying this wireless card for this laptop, please?

    With gratitude, Robin

    > User manual says: "Mini-PCI card. But does not specify the size (and yet some providers seem to have different sizes for the mini-PCI).

Mini-PCI slot is a standard interface supported by all hardware manufacturers.
There are no sizes different mini-PCI! There could be a mini-PCI or PCI slot.
However, the user above posted a WLan card reference number. I recommend googoling for this issue in order to find the right wireless network card.

  • Need the latest news of the wireless card and more on my Satellite 1905-S301

    First post here. Need help.

Toshiba has no info in their manual or anywhere on their site I could find about it.

The manual mentions that the stock for my Toshiba Orinoco Gold 1905-S301 wireless card (8484415560) wireless adapter.

Thing, is that the map is years old, and I want to know what the last card that will work with my 1905-s301. I saw many posts around the net
people with problems with mini-pci in Toshiba laptops different cards, where the power light and wireless do not work, and many positions
on workaround with pin 13 on the map so that the thing stays on permanently.

So what I want to know is: what is the latest version of the wireless standard that works with my 1905-S301 (802. 11 g, 802.11n, whatever), what brand of card
I can't (model number would be useful) that works, and it should be a map where I don't have to do no work around... where the on/off switch works the way it's supposed to and seeing Wi - Fi will also do.

Now... Apart from the above, it would be preferable to use a Type II CardBus PC card for the slot on the side of my laptop. Again, I am ignorance about these cards, but I don't know that you can get wireless cards that can be used. It would be preferable to an internal card? I know that they went to the PC Card Express format a few years before, so I can't assume CardBus cards cannot be purchased new.

Basically, I just want the ability to the most recent and WiFi for my laptop. I am to go to Seattle in May and want to have my computer laptop maxed out as far as it's capacity so I can entertain me

    A few other questions:
Is my Wired CPU? Can I spend it? And same for my graphics card. 16 MB graphic memory is not good, and I would like to know if I can pass that somehow.

Thanks in advance. Any info on my questions above would be much appreciated.

    Hello!

I agree with Garrett, contact the ASP in your country for information. They know what are the cards will fit in on Satellite 1905 and work.

On WiFi standards, I can say that the newer 802.11n standard will not work in this good old classic because that's why you need 3 antenna cables.

The CPU can be improved, but this will be maybe not supported from the BIOS. On the site of Toshiba is a document available thereon:
    http://195.182.196.33/KB0/FAQ7A01ZW0007R01.htm

Finally and above all the video RAM depends on the RAM memory and is turned on automatically. I don't know but if you have more RAM you will also get more video RAM but this ask your ASP too m.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P20-604 - how do I know if it has a wireless card or not?

I have a P20-604, which I think was not preinstalled with a wireless card. Just to make sure that my details are:

    Hello

As far as I know that the wireless card is optional on this unit. This means you have the opportunity to upgrade the unit with the wireless Mini-PCI card. At the bottom of the unit, you will find a machine slot for this card.

Please visit this site to check what wireless card is compatible with your device:

  • Satellite Pro A100 model PSAA3E wireless card driver

    Hello

Hope someone can help, I can't get a driver to work for the card wireless in this laptop, I tried some different drivers now and none doesn't seem to work, I always left with a yellow question mark in device for Ethernet Manager comtroller (and PCI device).

Appreicate if someone could point me in the right direction, I have tried all the drivers on the Toshiba driver download site with no luck. I have to go to the website of intel, perhaps? If Yes, how can I find out what model Intel wireless card I have.

    Appreciate any help

    Thank you.

Are you sure that you need a WLan driver?

Ethernet controller can be a LAN card too.

First check that the card has been recognized in the Device Manager.
If the network adapter is then you certainly need a WLan card.

I think you should check out if you can install the Atheros WLan driver because it might be possible that your laptop was equipped with Atheros 11 b/g wireless network card.

Check out this page of WLan from Toshiba:

  • Satellite M70 - 147 - which driver I need for the wireless card?

    Hi all

I installed Windows 7 on my Satellite M70-147. Everything works fine, except the WLAN.
Does anyone know that drivers to use (perhaps a universal) to make this work?

I don't know what card is in my notebook, I tried the drivers of toshiba for adapters intel, realtek, and ahteros.

Your help would be much appreciated!

    Hey Buddy,

First you must make sure what WLAN card you have. Therefore, you can check the device ID and device for the provider Manager. Enter these codes on this Web site: http://www.pcidatabase.com/

You will see you have the WLAN card. After that, you can try to install the correct driver for your card.

    Good luck! :)
