  • Many fonts render when Firefox opens the local html file

    I use a 3 rd-party program called Fontlist. He reads all the fonts in the Windows fonts folder and then uses a line of the user selected text to generate a html file on the hard drive that shows the line of the text displayed in each font. Because it is a program of the 3rd part, I have no control over it is programming html.

    When the generated html file is browsed with Internet Explorer, all fonts display correctly. When browsing with Firefox, maybe half or more fonts have a police-looking ordinary backup who suite. I was not able to discern any trend as to what type of font is displayed correctly or does not work.

    In the research online, the problem, I saw a hint that assigning false to security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy could solve the problem. I tried, and it had no effect. Also, in the advanced option to fonts and colors, I checked the box to let web pages to choose their own fonts.

    Would there be other parameters that would allow Firefox make virtually any standard font industry installed on the system? This can affect all 3 rd-party sources, not only Fontlist html files.

    The css generated by Fontlist puts no quotes around the family names of fonts, including those with a numeric parameter. This explains the part of chess, but not all.

    It is obvious that the html and css accepted by Internet Explorer is much more forgiving than FF.

    The Fontlist developer will have to address this issue.

    Hi Summerdaze,

    I'll try from Firefox Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode. If you do not have the issue so that all your modules, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the guide to troubleshooting Extensions and themes and article troubleshooting issues with plugins like Flash or Java to solve common Firefox problems as well.

    Hope this helps!

  • How can I remove the page options for my home pages when I use several home pages?

    I used several pages to my homepage with FireFox for a long time. I've recently updated my homepage as always - "use current pages" - now the firefox open the options page and which ones I want. It is not listed in the list of pages to open as home pages, but it nevertheless opens. I can't get rid of it because I have to open the options page to set the home pages.

    When you used the "use current pages" he adds all the tabs in the window that you were. Just remove the subject: preferences list in the box.

  • How can I keep Firefox to open an additional page (default page) every time? I want only to open my home page.

    Two tabs always open. default page 1 with my home page and the other with the FF. It is so irritating that I rarely use the Firefox browser even if its faster than IE.

    Finally, I deleted all traces of Firefox on my computer, including all the stuff that uninstall has not been deleted. Then I reinstalled from scratch. That seems to work and I get now only a single tab when I open the program.

    Note it is generally a last resort solution.
    I suggest to all those who wish to follow this solution guarantees that they back up the Firefox profile first. See also:

  • xdg-open does not take into account the url and opens the different website when Firefox is the default browser in Ubuntu

    I am running Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit with Firefox version 38 for Ubuntu
    It is complected, and I tried to explain everything clearly.

    Today, I noticed a strange behavior.
    I have several URL saved as .desktop files.

    I use webupd8.org as example.
    The code for the exec in the desktop file is:
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open http://www.webupd8.org/

    Today, I noticed that if I try to go to webupd8.org, or most of the other sites, by launching the .desktop file for this site, or by typing the url
    Code:

    http://www.WebUpd8.org/

    in the dashboard Firefox opens to a completely different site. The site that opens is a site that I set up for my children's grandparents to watch videos and see photos of the children. This Web site opens each time. I'm not be directed to a site at random each time. This is the case when I try to visit the webupd8.org OR one of several websites using .desktop file or enter the url you want in the dashboard. Whenever I went to my own domain.

    It happens that I have also several sites registered in a reminder in the Firefox icon in the Launcher sidebar thing in Ubuntu.
    In the case of the beast, the exec code is slightly different and it still responds as it should. In this case, I have:
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab http://www.webupd8.org/

    Also, if I change my default in opera browser, for example as .desktop files and entering the url directly in the dashboard work as it should.

    To recap:

    When Firefox is the default browser, enter a url in the dashboard or use a to surf to a desired site .desktop file causes my be redirected to my own domain name (which is hosted remotely and not on this computer).

    If, however, I change the Exec command in the .desktop file
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    TO
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    the .desktop file will open Firefox and go to the desired site.

    If I change the browser by default Firefox to another browser, everything works as it should and has always so far. That is, with the Opera for example, both
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    and
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    result in the browser by opening and going on the planned site. Typed a url in the dashboard is not a problem if the default browser is not Firefox.

    Anyone seen this before? If so, how to solve it?

    Thank you very much for your answers!
    I checked the url of the home page in Firefox and it has been set at startpage.com, but then when I looked at the default programs in Ubuntu, I noticed that the default program for the web had been unintentionally configured to use a .desktop file that leads to t he admin for my Web site login page.

    I changed this back to Firefox and the problem was solved.
