How to open up in tabs instead of windows? I went to the Options > > tabs and unchecked "open a new window instead of the tab. I don't know what else to do.
Please look in your advanced settings of Firefox.
To do this, follow these steps:- Go to
about:config
in Firefox - Locate the
browser.link.open_newwindow
integer - Change the value of this integer to
3
This will tell Firefox to open links that require a new window in a new tab instead.

When I click on a link of my emails, that it opens automatically by firefox. I want to disable this feature because I would go back to Chrome. I don't want to uninstall Firefox all together, but I don't want it to be my main browser not more.
Thank youThe only way to have such links open is not Firefox is to define a different browser, the default browser.
This MozillaZine Knowledge Base article shows how to set a different browser like IE as default browser.

Since I installed the latest version of the player on my Windows 7 PC, when I click on a link to a PDF file in a Web page I immediately get a save as dialogue box. The behavior of earlier versions of the player was to open the PDF for on-screen reading. How to restore this behavior? I don't see in the preferences (Ctrl-K). Browser is Firefox last. Thanks - Dave

I place the FireFox icon in the dock. When I click to open FireFox it opens two windows both to the homepage. When you click on a link in the email, it will open a window behind the first window rather that open in a tab. There used to be a preference re: opening links, but given that it was useful, it seems that Apple has removed this option unless it's hidden somewhere I can't find.
What you have is, in my view, two problems.
- Homepage
Type of topic: preferences #general< enter > in the address bar.
There are two settings;
- At the start of Firefox
When the browser is started, what you want
view. Many of us choose view my homepage.- Homepage
When a new page opens up, what do you want displayed.
- Use current Page. Use the pages that are never open at this time.
- Use the bookmark
- Restore by default. topic: Home shows a home page of Mozilla with tools.
You can use one of these as you want;
topic: Home (Default Firefox homepage),
on: newtab (displays the more visited sites),
Subject: vacuum (a blank page),or you can enter any web page or Subject: page you want.

Disable the feature of switching to tab, when you click on a link
When I click on certain links particularly in gmail, for example, if I get an email from youtube of a video being downloaded and I click on the video says, firefox opens this link in a new tab, but the problem is that it will automatically switch to this tab that I hate. This happens with the other links that want to open in a new tab for.
Switch to tab not more or go to the black list of the tab doesn't work. I got a fix for it in the comments: config page, but I've recently refreshed firefox and it removed the feature. preference, I don't want to use a plugin to solve this problem
(edited for clarity - c title)
Sorry, I'm distracted by the title of the question.
You can check the tab bar setting in Options/Preferences > tabs.
- [] "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."
There are three prefs, accessible via the comments: page of config, to control the development, if you click on a link.
- browser.tabs.loadInBackground (normal links)
- browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground (javascript)
- browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground (bookmarks)

not ask web pages uddenly that appears when you click on a link to
I'm on a Web page that I want and I click on a relevant link for more information about this page. The link opens correctly but so is another page that I did not and has no connection or interest to what I do. Then I have to cancel the unwanted page and one remains open. It's very annoying and can you please tell me how to stop it. It only started happening recently.
Thanks - I hopeI understand when you click a Web link within a site, two Web pages open instead of one. This looks like some kind of Adware and I would recommend looking for malware or reset Firefox (please understand that this will restore Firefox to its default values, and all customizations will be removed in a folder called 'Old Firefox Data' on the desktop)

I think it's really a feature request, but I don't see a forum for this. I used to use firefox almost exclusively, but switched to chrome when I started working freelance for a couple of different companies - the identities of chrome feature really helps me keep my sanity by having a unique identity for each company. However, a problem has recently developed with chrome which brought me back to firefox. The profile under firefox feature seems to have gotten much better since I made the first move, and I'm pretty happy with the way it works... with one exception:
With firefox, clicking on a link in another application, always opens in the default profile. With chrome, she would always open in the browser window that was most recently active. It's a very intuitive behavior, because everything I do in the other application (e.g. thunderbird, evernote, Skype) is almost always linked to whatever browser window, I had finally opened.
Any chance to do this implemented? Or maybe there is already a way to do this? I found the following related topics, but neither helped with this issue:
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/981608?ESAB=a & As = AAQ
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/983341?ESAB=a & As = AAQThe 'solution' to this topic is that there is no real solution so that the owner of this thread wants to happen.

The problems started only within the past few days. It's like something has hijacked my computer. Programs will not open from the desktop but will if I go through the beginning, the road to programs. Windows open will not close so I shut down the computer. When I do a search on google and click on the link I want, the computer brings me to something totally different.
My computer is 5 years and customized with a CORE 2 DUO Intel DG965 motherboard containing:

Change the e-mail program that opens when I click on a link in a document
Clicking on an email address in a pdf document in Acrobat Reader, Mac Mail will open instead of the e-mail program I use, Outlook for Mac 2011. How can I change the default program that opens when you click on a link?
Hi Meenakshi,
I assume you mean Adobe Reader > Preferences > e-mail accounts. I did already but get an error message: "Error communicating with the server" when I try to send a PDF by e-mail (file > Send file > Attach to Email), even if the parameters are exactly the same as in Outlook. Don't know how to solve this problem, although simple workaround is just to save the file locally and then send it as an attachment from Outlook itself.
But with regard to the specific question that I asked originally, I don't try to send a document as an attachment; I am trying to send an e-mail to a hyperlink address embedded in a pdf document open. It seems the setting that you referenced only affects how documents are sent as an attachment, not what client opens when you click on a link embedded in a pdf document e-mail.
Anyway, I solved the problem of the latter: in OSX, please make sure that in the native Mail application that the default mail reader is the application that you want to use ALL the programs/applications (Mail > preferences > General > default email reader), including Adobe Reader. Once I put this in Outlook, click an address for e-mail embedded in a document pdf opens Outlook with the address already in the field "to".

Adblock Plus is originally an extra window open when I click on a link from Apple Mail.
When I click on a link from Apple Mail, an (empty) additional window opens. The problem seems to be related with Adblock Plus, because it happens when Adblock Plus is removed. Problem, all started yesterday (7/29).
This only happens with AdBlock? Very strange. AdBlock to block pop-ups.
Is there anything in the address of this window box?
It's on a website, several?
