When I create a folder, it comes with a small lock on it.

Title says it all.

Thank you, Austin

This means two things:

  1. First: The folder that you created (with the lock) is private and only you can see.  No one else on your network or other users of the same computer, can open this folder.  It's for your eyes only.
  2. And next: the folder it is in (the parent of the folder with the lock) is not private.  If it was (if two records were private), there is no lock, because it would be redundant.  For example, if you went inside the folder locked and made another folder, it would be private too, but it would not show the lock.
You can right click on the folder with the lock and choose "Share with" someone to remove the lock to give someone another access to the file.

  • "Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library" error when you create a folder on desktop - why and how fix?

The past day or so I had trouble with .NET Framework 4 and conflict with TurboTax 2013 Installation. I thought that everything was fixed yesterday until I tried to create a folder on my desk this morning. The message is "this application has requested enforcement in an unusual way. Please contact the support team of the application for more information. ». "Windows Explorer has stopped working" then "Windows Explorer restarts". I started in safe mode and clean boot mode and has managed to create a folder on the desktop in two modes. I can also create a folder in the desktop folder when Windows Explorer is opened in mode Normal startup, but not since the bureau itself. Where should I go from here? I certainly don't want to start from scratch.

I still need a response to yesterday's post about the facilities 1 and 4.5.1 of the .NET Framework.

Reference: .NET Framework 4 problems with installing TurboTax 2013

    Published:

    Dell XPS 8100 desktop PC

    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Processor Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67 GHz, 2668 Mhz, 4 Lossnay, 4 logical processors

Physical memory (RAM) installed 8.00 GB

    Published:

I uninstalled TurboTax 2013 and rebooted. Installed Windows Update for Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 which replaced facilities .NET 4 in the menu programs and features and restarted. I still get the same error Visual C when you try to create a new folder on my desktop. I don't know if TurboTax will reinstall, but I want to get this first Visual C fixed problem.

    EDIT: Problem solved: (I hope)

I read in some Microsoft articles on uninstall the graphics drivers and reboot. I didn't remove the driver, so I rolled back the NVIDIA graphics driver for 314 311.06. ?? and restarted. I can now do a right-click on the desktop and create a folder without the error message. Also reinstalled TurboTax 2013 no hang ups or problems. Rebooted and everything seems to be ok.

(I was wondering if the fact that the NVIDIA Control Panel appears in the same box that when I right click to make a new case had nothing to do with the problem?)

    Hi Chas,

Please keep us updated on the status of the issue. Please do not hesitate to answer, in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Can I do something wrong when installing APs - too much trash comes with them

I wanted to add the free app of the Post it note to my PC running Windows 7.  I tried a few different approaches but every time, a third-party Setup Manager Wizard intervened and asked me to install a lot of software to 'manage the facilities' and other things.  You can always download applications without getting the * that comes with them?  I ended up having to do a system restore for my PC to where he was.

It seems that the Windows Phone is more own-that is to say, the applications must be checked so that they download cleaning (w/o *)

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Stickies, comes directly from the author and is a very good FREE reminder...

http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/ ... you might want to try... :-)

BUT, you can get it from other sources, and some of these sources may use download managers and/or installation everything they own... like this one for example...

    http://download.CNET.com/stickies/3000-2074_4-10330903.html

If possible, always use the author's site, but be careful. Some authors have no server installations and will be 'market' their goods by the likes of CNet.

Personally, I avoid anything that comes through these channels...

  • How to create a store of data with the small block size

    Hello

I want to create a data store on two 160 GB drives. All the VI Client allows me to do is to create a data store of whole disc with 1 MB block. But for reasons of performance with the virtualized Oracle RAC, which is 8K organized, I want to go down to a smaller block size. But how?

Is it possible to split my drive to (lets say) four parts, each with a smaller block size and putting them all together like extends in a data store? To create partitions with fdisk does not work, as the VI Client wants to use the unpartitioned disk. Any ideas?

    Robert

    Hello

It is not possible. The smallest block size is 1 MB on a VMFS partition.

    Best regards

  • Banner created movement, but it comes with skins

    Hello

It doesn't seem to be an option (DW8) when importing a flash video without that this with a kind of skin.

I created a movie (the banner at the top of my site - 460 x 120) with Movie Edit Pro and converted to flash for a .fla file. This part has allowed me to choose the skin = 'none', but when I imported the movie fla in DW it gave me choices of different skins without a "none" option.

I don't want a button "play" for my banner scroll of movie of course. How can I remove the skin? Keep in mind - I am much more mistletoe as encoder, but I understand some things.

    Thank you

Your project output to the SWF instead of Flash Video format.  IMO, any animation should have a button stop for people who do not wish to see it.

I can create a custom folder and add the column to the State, but the problem is when I create the folder and click Validate SQL it throws the error "" * enter custom SQL is not valid SQL statement - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist * ' "

I have all the privileges of the user, and when I'm trying to validate the existing queries, it is throwing the same error.

    Hello

Creating new folders must be made when logged in as a user of the application.

If the user of your application don't have administrator access to the EUL and then log on to the Admin of Disco as EUL owner and grant full administrator privileges to user applications or responsibility.

Then connect you to Disco Admin with this user or liability. Then, you should be able to create and import files.

  • When I print an email it comes out very low. Where can I change the settings for the font size?

When I print an email it comes out very small and almost unreadable. If I use IE I do not seem to have the same problem. Certainly there must be somewhere I can fix the size of the font that prints. It is fine when I read it on the screen.

File > Layout Page or Firefox button > print-> Page Setup = scale

    100% is usually better

  • Windows Explorer crashes when you open any folder with MPEG2 files.

WinXP SP3 - When you open any folder with MPEG2 files, windows Explorer crashes. If the folder contains only the MPEG1 files, it opens without a problem. We first thought it was a problem of media player, but we can not even click on a file to open it in media player.

    Hi kathyd,.

    ·        You did changes to the computer before this problem started?

Since we do not know what is causing this problem, I'd suggest unanimous the event viewer on your computer and check the details in the window logs messages/error codes important related to the question, during the time where this problem occurs and after return.

Event logs can help you identify and diagnose the source of current system problems or help you predict potential system problems.

Access the link below to learn how to view and manage the event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/308427

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/event_overview_01.mspx?mfr=true

You can try to start both computers in safe mode and check if it can open the folder where the MPEG 2 files are stored and if windows Explorer crashes. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start in safe mode select and press to enter.

I hope this helps. Post back with the required information.

    1. Click the Start button to open Disk Cleanup . In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click on OK.

    2. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click clean up system files.

If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click on OK.

    3. Select the button previous Windows installation(s) and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

Only time that happens, in my limited, knowledge is... If you use a 'illegal' name, such as ":" symbol. There are symbols, that you cannot use as part of a name. When this happens, you should get a warning indicating that the name is not allowed, something to that effect. Then he returns itself back to the new folder.
Suggest you try again with conventional names. See if it works or not.
