When I double-click a folder or a drive, I get a "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options panel' message.
I studied a lot of information to solve this problem, but whenever I click on my drives in my computer or folder, it comes up with this error message. No matter what I do, the error remains. The strange thing is,I can click right and always open folders normally with the "Open" option, it's just that Ican't double-click on a folder and access it using Windows Explorer. I think it might be a virus or something, but I'm not a computer expert. Anyone know how I can fix without wiping my computer?
I tried the things:
(1) I have SystemSuite Pro 10 (2009), so I used that to try to scan deep and does all the options I could. I found 4 Trojan files in my files of java for a reason, but I deleted them.
(2) some sites suggest a problem with the registry, so I tried the fixes for those who did not.
(3) I had a system checkpoint to restore old and just tried to restore my computer to that, but the problem persisted.
(4) I used guest trying to access Windows Explorer and some of my other files, but the error message comes up again. It seems impossible to access Windows Explorer.
Please help me. Although it is a small problem, I really like my new computer to stay in the best shape possible and not have to do a right-click on each folder just to open it.
did you try on winhelponline (dot) com file association fixed for windows 7?

Hi all
Help needed please.
HP dx2250 microtower, running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, recently attacked by Vista Antispyware 2010. Norton 360 V3 dealt with rather late the virus, but the fall of the remains.
I am unable to open any .exe file (program) on the desktop, start menu, or through the browser. I can access the programs in opening a data file, for example, double-click a .doc file opens MS Word, etc.
The error message "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel to define the Associations. "
I tried an automated solution that is available via the forums (exefix_cu.reg) and also a manual suggestion to change the registry, also available through the forum.
I also splashed by and purchased Regcure, who seems to have done no difference despite who claims to have removed 1500 odd errors. So I'll be request the refund on that one.
I scanned the forums and found a large number of similar problems, but not one that is as complete as this.
Any help much appreciated

Every time I try and open things on my computer, like internet explorer, windows player media, Aim, or my music etc. etc. files I get this message "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. create an association in the control panel of binding together.
I don't know what that means. He started to do so after we have some malicious and unwanted software on our computer. I thought it was because of the problems, but it didn't disappear after the computer has been fixed. Can I run programs as an administrator. But how do I get it back, just double click and the program opens as usual?

Original title: file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
I make a business card CD on Auto Play Studio 8. I have completed the project and burned the cd to test on different computers. When I clicked on the 'Video game' button, I get this warning. "This file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel of the associations' Ok I made the proper action to take, and I still get the same problem. I did this on a XP pro, Vista and 7 PC.
Hi NoPCgeek,1. what program do you use to read the file present on the CD?
2. What is the format of the file present on the CD?Before playing the files on the CD, make sure you cross check if you have the right program installed on the computer. If you have not installed the right program, then we recommend you to install the program that supports the file type and use them to read the files on the CD.You can also change the default program to read this file. The program opens the file only if the file format is supported by the latter.

Hello
1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?
I suggest that you follow these steps and check to see if they help.
Step 1:
If the problem occurred recently, perform the System Restore to the point that your computer was working normally.
Step 2:
Test the issue in a new user account and check if the problem persists.

I have a user running XP Pro and Office 2003. Whenever they double click a shortcut to a file of Excel spreadsheet, the above message appears. Is not shortcut to Excel himself, this shortcut works very well. He finds a shortcut on the desktop to a spreadsheet saved on the hard drive. Outreach programs and failure to file are correct. If you click on the actual spreadsheet of its location of origin rather than the shortcut, the file opens correctly. I repaired Office and when that did not work, deleted and reinstalled, still the same problem. This is not isolated to Excel or the other Word documents to the same thing, so I suspect that this is a problem in the registry.
I go back down to a restriction of the GPO security policy
