  Assuming you are using Safari, in the General preferences, you have "Open 'safe' after files have downloaded" checked? If so, uncheck the box.

  When the PDF is created creator add fonts rare to the same layout on creator system. But if the fonts are not included this problem may occur.

  I know you hate Adobe, but this parameter does not have to do with Adobe at all, in fact... This is an internal setting of Firefox.

  Anyway, change go to Tools - Options - Applications and enter "pdf" in the filter field. Change the action associated with this type of file to do what you want, in this case always 'ask '.

  This is caused by a liberal hijacking of APDivs (aka layers) for a main page layout.  This isn't what APDivs were intended.  That's why Adobe them removed from DW.  Unfortunately, not soon enough.

  I think you're the best option is to start over with a pre-built CSS layout that doesn't contain positioned elements.

  Either way, Flash is dead now.  Most of the people cannot display Flash media more.  You can convert the HTML5 video or use YouTube to host videos now.

  I'm doing a script activated by button.  Its purpose is to save a copy of the first page (form data erasure) in its own file in the same path as the open document.  As part of that I had to create a trust to cover the privileges of the app.newDoc function.  I have the following:

  This was recorded in a file called "newdoc.js" in the "app" of javascript.  I closed my Acrobat Pro XI and restarted.  As soon as I try to activate a button with just: "myDoc = trustedNewDoc var (500,500);", it opens the document as specified, but I get "undefined" returned to myDoc - that avoids manipulation of the Fryer.

  If I run the same line of the console, it also returns the value undefined.  Running "myDoc = var app.newDoc ();" also returns undefined, but just "app.newDoc ()"; only returns '[Doc]' - even if ' trustedNewDoc (500,500); "alone is still undefined.

  In any case, I feel like I'm missing something fundamental, even if I found some guides suggesting to do exactly what I have it implemented.  I am pretty sure I have everything entered correctly and followed all the steps, so at this point I'm stumped.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Thanks Gilad, that was exactly what he needed!  And thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  Now, I really wish I would have asked this question more early yesterday after spending hours trying to find a solution.

  Unfortunately there aren't really examples I found where a value was returned.  Maybe it's the good sense and I should have better, but I thought that the value has been returned by other means.  In any case, it's great to work with your help!  Now, I have a separate question, with what I need to see if I can get help.   Whenever I try to download a file (PDF, JPG, DOC), which was attached to an email (I use Outlook WebMail) the document will download very well HOWEVER eight (8!) or more to download windows pop up as if I tried to download that file eight times (or more).

  So I 'X' by each window after downloading a file. This is the same file on each pop-up window.

  Since it is a new problem, I tried to turn off the computer and put back in operation but failed.

  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

  (If you use it, switch to the default theme).

  • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
  • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

  

  Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

  

  If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

  To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  A pdf file (which is a file with the pdf file of letters after the dot in the filename), can be read by installing the free software Adobe Reader (remember to uncheck the box to install McAfee Security Scan) or free Foxit Reader (frequent contributors here prefer the latter).

  If you do not have Microsoft Word, you can read Word documents (files with the doc of letters or docx after the dot in the filename), by downloading and installing the free Word Viewer (read the doc files created by Word 2003 and earlier versions) and the free Office Compatibility Pack (reads the docx files, which are created by Word 2007 and later versions).  If you choose to install these applications, be sure to visit Microsoft Update immediately after to be sure to get a needed updates.

  Adobe Flash Player is not relevant to this question.

  If you have problems to install Adobe Reader, please provide more information, including the full text of any error message, without paraphrase and the version and service pack of Windows you have (right click on desktop and select properties for more details).

  This is a file association.

  Right-click on a downloaded PDF file and choose "Properties".

  Where it says, 'Open with', select drive from the menu drop down. (You may need to browse to find in C/Program FIles(x86)/Adobe/Reader11.0/Reader)

  Click 'Apply' then 'OK '.

  A PDF file will open with the reader.
