  The only time I see two icons for a Mozilla application in the dock is when I have to restart after installing an extension or a new theme. The additional icon disappears if I restart again. I have an extension that gives me a reset button to use. There is an add-on for Firefox that can give you a reset button, if you care to try this remedy.

  You can type a colon in the search bar in the Manager history (library) to get a list sorted by time and then start to delete the history from the bottom. It is best not to select too many items at once by Shift + Ctrl + PG. Prev starting from the bottom, 1000 is a good value to start. You can press the delete key to delete the selected items.

  Yes, I often use several versions of firefox.

  Use custom install for the 2nd or both versions of firefox and create multiple profiles.
  

  Program records
  
  When you install firefox (you can leave the first version where it is) choose custom rather than the default values Setup. You normally use a location in the path of the program window, so that the files are easy to find related and execution. Maybe just add USA and C for default folder names, so that you have separated appropriate folders. You can rename all of the Firefox shortcuts after their creation.

  Two profiles
  
  You will need to have separate for each version profiles so that they work properly.

  1. I would like to start by creating a copy of the existing profile folder and all its subfolders. Copy in a safe place, out of program or firefox profile paths, the Windows desktop is an obvious choice. It is not necessary, but if something is wrong it allows possibilities of recovery or regression.
  2. For simplicity, let such existing firefox profile; If it doesn't work still. You can always delete the shortcuts for her later if she is not going to be used. (Do not rename the profiles until you are confident and fully understand firefox profiles and how they are used).
