When I try to distort large layers the area becomes is full of lines and symbols (and the layer I'm deformation is no longer visible) OR the lines move without the layer move at all.  In both cases, the results of movements are seen that when you hit enter.  Images and layers are big enough.  fight 1 GB.  I have a lot of memory and using 4 GB or RAM. on mac.  Any ideas how to fix?

Not turning off"use graphics processor" in the Performance preference and restarting Photoshop have a bearing on the issue.
