When I try to install a program (for financial data graphics) I get a message that the wizard to uninstall shield is in use and turn it off before you try again.message # 432, according to me, or perhaps of 423

If I try to install programs by downloading fromm the internt (lately a program to draw and make calculations on financial data) I do not pass. The error message is the following:

Uninstall Shield Wizard is in use

Turn the power off before trying again

error # 423 or 432

Hi GeorgeMcWilliam,

  1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
  2. What program are you trying to install on the computer?
  3. You are able to install other programs on the computer?

Method 1

See the link below and run the fixit tool available, check if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the program installation and uninstallation problems automatically

Method 2

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

  1. Click Start , and then click run.
  2. Type msconfig , and then click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.
  3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services , and then click OK.
  4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.
