When I try to open a PDF email attachments I get the message: SECURITY WARNING - your current security settings do not allow this file to download. I am running Windows 7 and the email is in Windows Live Mail. HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
Thanks a lot for your help. I finally found a way to open the PDF file by saving it to my documents folder then right-click to open it in Adobe Reader. This has proved to be a more useful to any similar future problem solution.

SWF is a file format for multimedia, vector graphics and Action Script in the Adobe Flash environment. Origin with future Wave Software, then transferred to Macromedia and then coming under the control of Adobe, SWF files can contain animations or applets of varying degrees of interactivity and function.
SWF functions as the dominant vector "animation" on the Web for graphics display format. It can also be used for programs, games by browser commonly, using ActionScript.

In addition, what makes you think that file associations have been changed to PDF format? You can right click on the files in question > will the properties and the file type. It would be very strange for jpeg files have been changed to PDF format. Possible but, strange.

Help, I have a small embroidery business and have used a program called Embird. Yesterday, I downloaded an upgrade for this program. It said to uninstall the old program before installing the new, so I did. Now when I try to install the new one it says this link must be opened with an application, select application. I have no idea what it means that someone can help me? I tried to restore the computer to a date prior to just start all over hoping he would restore the old Embird, it says that the file may be damaged and will not work.If you were able to 'merge', you have unzipped the file somehow. What was all the messages when you did the merger?
Follow these steps:
1 information about the particular file in question
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Properties. What does say for 'File Type' and what is the 3-letter file extension (after the point)?
If there is no file extension, find the file using Windows Explorer, and then click Tools > Folder Options > view. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and click OK. Now, look at the file again for the file extension.
2. test of exe files
Click Start > run, then type notepad in the "open" box, then click OK
Didn't open a Notepad window? If not, what error message do you have?Click Start > run, and then type the following in the "Open" box and click OK
%SystemRoot%\system32\
Find notepad.exe (or just Notepad if file extensions are not displayed), and then double-click it. What is going on? -

When I ry to open an attachment, I only get the microsoft office Picture Manager icon and can't click on anything to view the file, which must be a text document.
What is the extension of fixing this "text"?
The last 3 letters of the attachment is the file extension. If the last 3 letters... are doc, you need Microsoft Office Word or Microsoft WordViewer.
Here is the link to MS Word Viewer: this is a free program.

Update Firefox 6.0 is useless to me because many websites I visit are not displayed properly, I guess because the Java modules are disabled because of incompatibility. They appear correctly in Internet Explorer.
In addition, the add-on from Trend Micro is not compatible, which leaves me with a positive feeling.
When I try to check to see if these modules can be updated, the menu item Tools/Addons just goes to a page with "loading" and stays there for several minutes without change until I close it.
I would like to know the procedure to regularize this version of Firefox to my previous version that worked.
Firefox 5.0/5.0.1/4.0/4.0.1 and earlier 3.6.20 all contain questions of security and stability that will not be corrected. You put your system at risk by using any version of Firefox that 6.0 or 3.6.20. Any person who displays a link to other versions is to be irresponsible, in my opinion.
Java
If the incompatible extensions in Add-ons > Extensions are Java Console, you have no need them unless your doing Java development. Most of the users have not yet installed, but Java will install Java Console with each update. You can delete them manually:The only thing that affects the functioning of the sites/Java applets on the web is the plugin (Add-ons - > Plugins) "Java (TM) Platform SE (version)". Do not forget that it is enabled and that you have not all extensions which affect/block "scripts".
- Check commonly used plugins: https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Update or install Java (aka, next generation Java plug-in for the Mozilla browsers): install or update Java in Firefox
Trend Micro
You must contact Trend Micro or go to the forums on their website to inquire about their plans to update the add-ons/toolbars they install in Firefox.Problem with the display of the Add-ons Manager
The Add-ons Manager gets in a loop of loading due to the recent update of Firefox 6 and servers being overloaded because users and update process are looking for updates to the add-on. If you stay away from the "Get Add-ons" selection on the left of the screen of the add-on Manager, you should have no problem with that. This situation is expected to resolve when the overload of Firefox 6 update is complete. I do not always use this "Get Add-ons" option, instead, I go to the website of modules and the search for what I want from there: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=clone & cat = all & x = 0 & y = 0 -

Hello
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To turn off hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
- Go to the Adobe Flash Player help page.
- Right-click on the Flash Player logo on this page.
- Click settings on the shortcut menu. The Adobe Flash Player settings screen opens.
- Click the icon in the lower left of the Adobe Flash Player settings window to open the display panel.
- Remove the enable hardware accelerationcheck box.
- Click close to close the Adobe Flash Player settings window.
- Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player help - display settings page contains more information about the Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you are interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

I use TWC (Time Warner Cable) as my server e-mail and Firefox as my browser. I went to my emails and has attempted to open an attachment and got an error message stating "security settings prevent the download file. Well, I contacted TWC, Norton and my PC settings. It seems that Firefox is the problem! If I use another browser ie: Google and go to my email account, I have no problem. I remember recently that Firefox did a download of updates and this may be the cause of the problem.
Thank you for your private message with the error text: "your current security settings do not allow this file to download."
Firefox partially integrates with Internet Explorer security settings for download purposes. You can realize your Internet Explorer settings to the 'Internet' zone by following the steps described in this answer to Microsoft forums:
Note: Traditionally, the Internet Options dialogue box was available in the Control Panel, as well as in IE. Not sure about Windows 8.1.
What is fix?
