When I try to open an attachment, Windows Media Center comes in and tries to open it as a audio or video media.

I have to be able to read the news sent me.  Somehow... the other day, Windows Media Center downloaded on my computer.  I'm unable to determine if I should delete or keep.  It looks like the be-all at the end of everything, the next thing besth for audio and video.  However, I'm unable to open the attached docs now.  I also noticed that when I compose an email, I hard attach files or using the tools to change my font, bold, italic, etc. settings.  Help please.  If you have an idea how to fix this, I'd really appreciate your comments.
