  • I downloaded the 32-bit, Windows 7, Internet, and now when I try to open the file you just downloaded with an MS-DOS screen opens then closes instantly. What should I do?

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Hi Chris.Plucker,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum

I would like to ask you a few questions to better understand:

    (a) you try to open the file from Internet Explorer?

    (b) if so, have you tried with other browsers?

    (c) from which site did you download Windows 7?

    (d) what is the name of the file you want to download?

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

Follow the steps below to put your computer in a clean boot state:

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. sign the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on the Start button, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Startup items load check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box, and then all disable.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click on OK, then restarting.

Check the link to learn more about the clean boot below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click the Start button, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

2 in the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click on OK.

    3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

    Waiting to hear from you

    Thanks and greetings

  • I get this error when I try to open a file with Acrobat Reader, it is said: Adobe Reader could not open "heels 2014 001.bmp" because it is not a type of file supported or because the file has been damaged (for example: it is sent as an email to)

I get an error msg when I try to open a file using adobe reader software.  Error States: Adobe Reader could not open ' heels 2014 001.exe bmp because it is not a supported type, file or because the file has been damaged (for example: he was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been decoded correctly.).

I tried to send an email with attachments 44 and would not send the email. Ever since I tried to send this e-mail, I have been doing the error msg.

Anyone know how I can get this to work for me again?

Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

    JoJo

The file you are trying to open is (you can see from the name) a BMP, PDF files no file. Adobe Reader can only open PDF files, just so stop trying to open it with Adobe Reader. The app, users of Windows for BMP files is painting.

I have Windows Vista and have recently purchase and installed Microsoft Office 2007. When I try to open files that I know to have been created in standard desktop applications, and in this particular case Word, I get an error message that the file is not "a valid WIn 32 application".

  • Adobe Illustrator crashes when you try to open the files

After 4 months of trying to figure out what adobe Illustrator still does not work. It crashes when I try to click on a file or when I try to open a new. I get a dialog box saying that adobe Illustrator is suddenly broken down. I tried to uninstall, reinstall, update all my drivers and still nothing. I had a problem with the GPU drivers telliing me to udate even if I had more recent drives for my laptop. I work on a lenovo with windows 10. Adobe support can't understand why it keeps crashing. When adobe will solve this problem?

Illustrator usually needs a printer. If none is there, install a PDF printer.

  • Stimulus profile editor closes immediately when you try to open the file

I can open the profile of Stimulus Editor, but when I try to open certain profiles and sequences, the editor closes abruptly.  I recently changed my system definition file, but it seems that it is separate from design and should affect the editor.  Is this a common problem?  How can I solve this problem?  I don't want to rebuild all these files.

    Hi KB_GenMtrs,

I have a few questions about your request:

    (1) what NIVS version do you use? What version of NIVS where clips and profiles created?

    (2) can create a new sequence of RT or profile without crashing?

    (3) the profile editor of Stimulus crash when opening a specific sequence or profile? If so, can point out you if I try to open it on my side to test if it's recreatable?

I look forward to your reply.

  • CC of Photoshop does not open when you try to open the files in Lightroom CC

Recently, when I try to open files in Photoshop from Lightroom CC, I get the error message that is attached.  If I manually open CC PS it opens and the LR files are there, but it does not open on its own.

    Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 6.56.18 PM.png

I went on the hard drive where these files are stored and checked the disk and there is no necessary repairs.  I checked my preferences for editing in LR and PS is the chosen program.  You have ideas.

    Thank you

    Larry Lindell

Looking at this error report, looks like Lightroom trying to open a copy of Photoshop on your backup disk. Since it is a copy of the software and is not the property inscribed and the installation files, it is not able to launch correctly. See the following: Lightroom: "Edit in PS 2014" opens PS 2014 in the wrong place

  • Changed the name of a bookmark in a folder, now when I try to open the file, it tries to open every bookmark in the file.

I have a folder of bookmarks in the toolbar. I changed the name of one of the bookmarks in that folder. The next time I tried to open the file, I had (and continue to receive) a message saying that I'm about to open 47 tabs, and this can slow down the firefox. I have only to open the file, not each bookmark in it and does not know how to get it by allowing me to do.

That only happens if you click on this button to folder in the bookmarks toolbar, or you cannot open this folder in the sidebar (Ctrl + B) or the bookmarks menu as well?

  • I'm filling a Russian visa and when I try to open the file to print, the message is cfm file and asks me to find an application to open it but none will.

Visa guard download for print or save file but I can't open it. A box opens asking me to choose an application to open the cfm file.

It is most likely a server problem, not a browser problem. Web server, processing of your visa application is probably not correctly configured to manage scripts (.cfm files) of cold fusion. I suggest that you contact regardless of the authorities you need to obtain the documents that you can complete manually, or alert the server administrator web management of the visa application. Yet once, most likely a server problem, not a browser issue.

    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

Rename the application sniffer as snifferold

    Restart Photoshop CC 2014

(The explanation was to have old video drivers installed) which I did not). Also, I don't know if it is important to not have a sniffer program. But for now, Photoshop is running again.
