  • Media Center does not work on Equium A100-147

    Hello
I have a little problem with my media center. It used to work fine, but recently, I decided to wipe the hard drive.

I used the boot disk to reinstall windows media center edition 2005. However, when you try to load the Media Center, I get the error message:
"Your video card or drivers are not compatible with Media Center" and it will not play videos when media center then opens upward.

Now, I downloaded all the updates that are available from microsoft for windows and I ve downloaded the latest drivers from Intel for the graphic accelerator card.
I am really at my wits end, Ive used this microsoft program to detect the decoder and it is both compatible with windows media player and windows media center and is set as default.

I saw on another thread, someone having a similar problem, which was solved by going to "run", type "dxdiag" and enable direct features, however mine was already activated.

If someone could help me I would be very grateful, thank you for your time.

It is really strange. Your satellite notebook comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and it should work. What kind of videos you want to use. Original DVD movies?

In any case, using google, you can find a lot of interesting comments for this theme.

A man simply offers the solution:

+ Just open regedit, then tap on +.
    + HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Media Center\Display parameters +.

+ Then add 2 KEYS to DWORD called DisableDxCheck and DisableDx9CapsCheck and their two values 1 and Media Center should start without problem.

    You can test it.

  • Loss of signal HDMI in Windows Media Center

I have a Dell Studio Hybrid PCs only running Windows Vista Home Edition Premium attached to a Samsung LN52A750 LCD HDTV via HDMI. If I turn on the TV away from the PC input and back, I lose the video signal... but only when Windows Media Center is running in full screen.

    It works fine:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Turn off the PC.
    6. Turns off the TV (or switch to a different input).

    This also works very well:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Minimize Windows Media Center.
    6. Turn on the TV to a different entry, but leave the PC.
    7. Turn on your TV to the PC - you see always the computer.

    It does NOT work:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Turn on the TV to a different entry, but leave the PC with Windows Media Center in full screen running .
    6. Try to turn on the TV to the PC - no picture or sound is on the screen and the PC must be restarted to return sound/video fully.

I came across this problem recently (after the passage of a VGA/DVI to HDMI connection). First of all, I came across it when the PC would go to sleep - the video signal stops and the TV stop see the PC signal, even once the PC is awake. I have read a bit online and thought it was something people call a problem of 'EDID handshake. " I thought simply not let the computer sleep (and do not turn off the PC video) would fix it, but I ran into another issue. Kind of a twist.

I was showing friends how Media Center worked, I spent in the PC, showed them Windows Media Center, spent in a different entry, then switched back to the PC (because I forgot to show you something). The blue background of Media Center appeared for a split second and the signal was instantly lost. I had to reload completely in order to recover the signal.

I retried the experience - shot to the top of Media Center, active the TV away from the computer, then it passed right away - same result. Restart lost, hard signal.

I don't know how I fell on it, but at some point, I had the experience with a twist. I pulled to the top of the computer, started Media Center and reduced. Then I moved the TV away from the PC and back... and the signal was always there. I did it again, and again, the signal was there. The TV turns off and on again - signal always there. Then I enlarged Media Center, changed television away from the PC, and when I came back... NO SIGNAL.

So: with full-screen Media Center loses the signal, but when Media Center is reduced to a minimum the signal remains.

I started thinking about how my recent use of the Media Center differed from the previous time. Normally, I use the Media Center, watch a movie or something and then go and do something else. I'm back from PC to something else and back. And every time that I had spent in the PC and he had kept the signal, the screen saver has been on - the screen saver 'bubbles '.

Something that I noticed with the screensaver "Bubbles" is that it sometimes brings the Windows taskbar in the foreground so it 'up' to the Windows Media Center full screen appears. I usually turn the television on the PC input before "wake the computer" and to get the screensaver to go.

Now I wonder if the lost signal has something to do with Windows Media Center. I have [I think] know a bit the functioning of Windows and the concept of execution of different 'offices '. I wrote a screensaver in C++ unmanaged long ago and I remember there was some crazy stuff that you have to do when you write an application "windowless" (as Media Center - there is no border around it when it goes full screen) and make the "caches", as the screen saver 'bubbles '. I wonder if he has something to do with the standard Windows Desktop works correctly but the Windows Media Center app full screen "desktop" does not properly.

I tried another experience where I kept full screen WMC, leave the TV losing signal and press Win + D to minimize and show the desktop. Then I went to the TV in the back. No luck - once the signal has been lost, it was lost for good.

I did since then research various responses. I read that defining the ACPI suspend mode S3 would fix it, but it doesn't. I tried implementing a keyboard shortcut attached to a script that could change the display resolution of 640 x 480 and then change back because I read changing the resolution to update the signal - which did not work.

Basically, I got no alternative except to keep WMC reduced when it is not in use.

I'll try to set the screen saver "Bubbles" to 1 minute or something and see if that will at least let me inputs turn on the TV after one minute of inactivity. Yet, it would be good to know if there is some setting I'm missing.

    Hello Travis and Jmelton98,

Thank you for posting.  Your tests of Travis and additional post of Jmelton, it seems it will be probably something that only can be set by the video card drivers.  If you were to look at the known issues for some drivers, you would see similar questions types.  It is one of the reasons for the drivers for video cards are updated so often.  Sometimes there will be a problem so important that they will release a special patch to fix (like what happened during the crisis game is released).  There should be a new series of pilots soon become availible.

Please try and see if the problem persists.  Thank you both for the replies that it will help others too. Zack

No, there is not an option to turn off the mouse when Media Center is running. You can try to update the drivers for your video card and check if the problem persists during playback TV Media Center. You can check the below article which will give you information on how to update the drivers:

I move the mouse, and if by chance I managed to get the pointer of the mouse under a button he highlites and I can then press the mouse button and it will work, but the mouse pointer is invisible.

Among other things, this suggests to disable 'Traces of the mouse', if you have it on might work.

    Does that help?

If the above does not help then try to reset WMC: -.

Open Control Panel > uninstall a program > turn Windows features on or off > scroll multimedia features > uncheck the box against Windows Media Center > follow the instructions on the screen > Reboot > open again to turn Windows features on or off in the control panel > scroll multimedia features > check the box against Windows Media Center.

  • You can transfer the Pack Windows Media Center on another computer Windows 8 Pro?

When Media Center Pack goes free for win8 Pro, I submit one.

When I update with the key Media Center Pack, I see the LICENSE AGREEMENT on the terms of transfer software.
    I have a question:
It is said bind Media Center Pack to your computer for activation, this means that you can not transfer a Media Center Pack to another computer, but dose the win8 pro which update this Media Center Pack also link to this computer?
Or just the Media Center Pack has been linked to, the win8 pro which update this Media Center Pack can be transferred to another computer?
Can someone give me an official response?

If you remove the installation of Windows 8 Pro of the current computer, then activate it on another computer, you can then move the Media Center license on another computer. Media Center license is dependent on installation of Windows 8 Pro enabled. He could never be associated with the computer because it requires an operating system.

  • MEDIA CENTER STOPS WORKING WHEN I TRYING TO PLAY MOVIES THAT I HAVE DOWNLOADED

Media Center will not play any movie I have in my library, it plays fine in the music video, the same movie will play well when I use Windows Media Player by itself without open Media center.

Is there any solution for this?

    Hello KINGPIN62,

    Thank you for your response.

To check, are video files in a monitored folder of Windows Media Center?

To add or remove folders to be monitored by Windows Media Center, see the following steps:

    ·         Since the Windows Media Center start screen, navigate to tasks, and then click settings.

    ·         Click configuration library > add folder to watch and then click Next.

    ·         Click one of the options under which folders you want to add, and then click Next.

    ·         Naviguer, navigate to the folders you want to add, and then select the check box next to each folder.  Click next and then click Finish.

Alternatively, you can try to perform the clean boot to verify if a background program may interfere.

To perform a clean boot, see the link below:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

You can also check if the necessary codec to play the video files is installed.

For more information about the location of the codec, please visit the link below:

Playing videos in Windows Media Center: frequently asked questions

In addition, you can also check with the seller or store movies downloaded for additional codec information for video files.

Please let us know if the above steps help you to solve the problem for you or if you need assistance.

  • Windows Media Center Scheduler service is not running, even when the value of autostart

I had some trouble recently getting Windows Media Center to record programs. I did some research and found that Windows Media Center (ehSched) Scheduler Service does not start when I start my computer.
It IS configured to start automatically.
When I found that the service has not been started, I have manually started, but would find it himself quit again a few minutes later.
It of very frustrating and resulted in missing the scheduled recordings.
The only way to save that program is open the WMC and actually watching the program for the duration of the scheduled recording. (Not good if I'm not home!)

I am running Windows 7 32 bit SP1 on a laptop of Toshiba Satellite A500.

    Help, please!

    Hi the Flomsat,

I would say looking at the following thread because it's a question similar to yours:

I tried all the solutions on this thread. None was able to solve my problem.

However, I found a fix that MAY have worked (it's only 1 day but so far it looks promising).

    Open Windows Media Center,

Click on settings-> General-> optimization-> uncheck to "perform an optimization. I never noticed an increase in performance and reliability with it turns out, in fact, now that I think about it, when I turned it on, my Scheduler service started having these problems. It must be able to close the Scheduler to 'optimize '...

    UPDATE *.
    It did NOT work

I had to reinstall windows to get it working again :(

I have windows 7 Home premium.  Windows media center I have used for about 1 year.  All of a sudden the program crashes when I try to open a folder containing the videos.  When I try to open a file, it works.  Will not open a folder where the videos are, unless I have stop and restart WMC.  Any ideas?
Also, I did a system restore when I noticed what was going on, but still does not work.  I also did a clean reboot, nothing.

To remove the file, follow these steps:

    a. click Startand then click run.

    (b) in the Open box, type run, and then click OK.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    (c) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome and then click OK.

    d. in the details, click pane right mediacenterdatastore.dband then click Remove.

    e. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.

    f. restart the computer so that the changes take effect after you perform the steps.
