When starting my computer Windows 7, error ststring.dll is missing

I get an error message that ststring.dll is missing when I start my computer running windows 7 Home premium. He suggests that I have reinstall. What is ststring.dll and how I would like to reinstall it?

Hi I found this post a while back on another site, I did what it said to do exactly and it worked for me, don't waste your time call Dell they want only to load on a 100.00 to fix and there is no guarantee. Just try to do what that told the post that I inserted below or if you can't find a friend who is more computer savy and have do them. I hope this helps.

Solved: "STService.exe Unable to locate component."

Hey

First of all, my apologies if there is a section of this forum that this thread would be better suited to the. Mods, feel free to move the thread elsewhere if that is the case.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post a little fix for a problem that I had with my Dell laptop. After a registry cleanup, I started to receive the error message every time after that I logged: "unable to locate component STService.exe. This application has failed to start because STlog.dll is not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »

I googled the problem but could not find a suitable solution - all other users have this problem had simply uninstall Dell DataSafe Local Backup (where the problem is) or just simply to stop it running at startup to the top to get rid of the error messages.

However, if, like me, this isn't something in particular, you want to, here's a quick solution:

Find "Dell DataSafe Local Backup" within your program files (for me, it was in: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Dell DataSafe Local Backup")

Find the STLog.dll file in this directory

Copy the file - and I hasten to repeat, copy it (do not move or cut the file, because it would be a lot more questions)

Find the folder Scheduler (for me, it was in: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Dell Backup\Components\scheduler DataSafe Local ')

Paste the file into this directory

At this point, I want to emphasize that STLog.dll is not - or at least was not for me - the only one missing. I also had to copy all the following dll files in the same way:

CSTError.dll
STString.dll
STXml.dll
STStringArray.dll
LibXml2.dll
ZLIB1.dll
STFiles.dll
STRegistry.dll
STPE.dll
STNLS.dll
STSystems.dll

  • When start the computer can be turned on but nothing happens

Original title: computer does not start

    Hi all

Have a dual processor Intel running Vista with 2 GB of memory.

When start the computer can be turned on but nothing happens. That is the screen is not lighting, brief flashes KB on and nothing. I hae take the drive HARD case and implemented it is powered, but there is no sign that it is accessed at all when the machine is running. It seems that ot could be the HARD drive, but I think that there is a rom on the motherboard, which is accessible in the boot process and I wonder if this could fail. I don't have a spare drive to test what happens then is anyway I can be sure if I need new hard drive or m/Board?

While on the question - if I need a HARD drive, Vista is the one that crashed and I do not have a Cd with the machine when I bought it. Nor has created a cover of one! I have an old XP Pro upgrade disc and an original copy of Windows 2000 (so I can switch to XP). This is my best option? I can't afford £ 140 for Windows 7.

    Hi Eddie,.

Since this is a hardware problem, you should contact your computer manufacturer or a hardware technician to understand the defective material.

And also, since Windows Vista was preinstalled on the computer you must consult the manufacturer of the computer for resettlement or a recovery DVD.  Also survey about data recovery on hard drive crashed.

Just curious, it's someone else is seeing this with 2.10 and if you have, how solve you this problem?

If you are using some kind of power management on the VDI? It seems as if the machine is unable to reach the HTTP Appvolumes service for any reason any newspaper which shows success connects withion a fraction of a second if the server doesn't seem to be to busy.

Maybe you try to join an appstack that has some sort of firewall inside rule?

  • What happens when "Still waiting for network when starting the computer and logon" is enabled and that the computer is not connected to the network?

In MMC, I created the group policy and found through web search that computers with mapped network drives can connect better if "always wait for network when starting the computer and logon" is enabled...  So far, it has been very nice to have allowed.  Is no longer mapped network drives see the place as disconnected.  But what happens if the computer is not connected to a network?  Say the wireless router will turn off and your computer always 'wait... Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    Method 1:
You can try to start the fix - it and check. Check out the following link.
The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

    Method 2:

You can read the following article.
Cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. How to back up and restore the registry in Windows:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry

Note: If bad sectors are detected when running check disk utility and attempt recovery of bad sectors is verified during the verification of the drive for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors.

    Method 3:

I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: When performing analysis on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when parsing tent repair this sector if all available on which data can be lost.
