When the computer remains in standby mode it will not start normally, usually ok in safe mode, but even when its up and running normally it's extremely slow.

Original title: searchfilterhost problems

I am running Vista family 32-bit and when the computer is left in standby mode, that it does not start normally, usually ok in mode without failure, but even if his place and it works normally is extremely slow. Having verified the use of the processor, 82 processes running anything meaningful except 50 + % is used by searchfilterhost.exe, this would cause the problem and if so how it can be cured.

  • Computer will not start normally - boots to the BIOS boot screen

Hi, today I had problems on my computer and it will not start normally upward. This started happening today. When I turn on the monitor, the HP logo appears on a blue screen (as usual), but then, there are a lot of vertical white lines grouped perfectly on the screen (it's never happened before) he started to arrive yesterday. and when I try to start it, there is just a black screen for a long time and sometimes the system recov appears but it takes SO long to finish so I just stopped and went into safe mode and did a quick scans with Malwarebytes, MS Security Essentials and SUPERAntiSpyware, but they are all come clean except SUPER which came with a few things from tracking cookies...

Today, I have scanned a full scan with malwarebytes and it says that there is no infection.

can someone help me? I'm at the library atm! Thank you!

Picture of the blue screen with lines here: http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/8583/post1278441253416372.jpg

also - im wondering how to start with recov disks? I have two drives but only as on slot dvd thing and I know to start upward with her? should I boot with it because the layout is a little down? and I don't have an installation disc windows vista then Yes.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello Winston,

According to the image that you posted, it seems that the blue screen is a blue screen with the HP logo on the subject.

If this is the case, then the machine has not yet reached Windows and is suspended in the machine Power On Self Test.

My recommendation for this scenario is to contact HP about what there is something at the level of the material / process/firmware BIOS which prevents the machine to get it to start Windows Vista.

Let us know what they have to say.

    Best regards

  • Satellite A660 will not start again until I turn safe mode

Just buy the toshiba Satellite A660: I tell the story to compensate closely in my answer, I hope...

I just buy new, run the Setup for first use. When its up and running only in that day, that I noticed it start to hang up when I plugged the drive external hard for some Installer (adobe lightroom).

Its still very well, but when I disable it, it does not start again until I have run in safe mode so I can save some files and rerun recovery.

This time on 64-bit. With its completion of its process, this works well for a few hours.
He fell faster now, maybe because its on 64-bit? (any recommendation if its 32 or 64 bit) specifications: i5, 4ram, 1 g ddcatd graphics, family win7 premium,...

Now when I turn it off it never early return time windows say... Startup Repair. ..
I have let it run from this morning till now they can't always find what's the problem (I'm refernce the loptop).

    > He fell faster now, maybe because its on 64-bit? (any recommendation if its 32 or 64 bit) specifications: i5, 4ram, 1 g ddcatd graphics, family win7 premium,...

64-bit operating system is better if your computer supports 4 GB or more of RAM.
Why? Because 32-bit Win recognizes max 3.2 GB, even if more RAM is available.
It's limitation of 32-bit; regardless of what OS it is; Linux, Win XP, Vista, Win7, etc.
This is the reason why the 64 bit OS are so popular in the last time

    With regard to the issue of the BONE;
    I recommend that you run a disk recovery again... This means that you need to reinstall the OS usign the option recovery Toshiba;

I got to my computer today and there was a blue screen with white writing about him say a word on the internal discharge. Then later in the day, the computer froze, after a while the screen went black with just the cursor on the screen. I restarted the computer and now it just does not start. In normal mode it gets as far as the loading screen Windows with the movement of green bar but stays on it indefinitely. If I try to start in safe mode it gets as much as crcdisk.sys and then crashes, and if I try to boot from the Vista recovery disc, it also only gets the windows loading green bar and stay on it. Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  • Unable to perform backup task and the error is ' Service of Application COM + will not start... "

Original title: the Service Application COM + does not start

The Service of Application COM + does not start and shows the event ID 7000 error 1053 - does not respond within a reasonable time. I checked all the dependencies, and they are all started. SFC does not detect any system error. I can't backups work because of this problem.

Your answer is completely wacky. While searching for a resolution, I found another thread on Norton forum that showed an error in the ComFix script. Once I fixed the error in the script, and he ran, the problem has been resolved.

If a simple script can solve this problem, why is it not in the Microsoft KB? And why you suggest all these fixes out of the base so I needed to restore a CAB file from a backup?

Found a similar to KB2481190 fix:

"If you're in a scenario where you have already migrated and have corrupt COM +, you can use the following as a script to restore the repository COM + original. Copy the text indented following in Notepad and save it as COM_Restore.vbs:

    Dim objComCatalog

    Set objComCatalog = CreateObject ("COMAdmin.COMAdminCatalog")
    objComCatalog.RestoreREGDB "C:\windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-com-complus-runtime_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_b5bfb0b8ee629431\R000000000001.clb".

    MsgBox "restored."
    Set objComCatalog = Nothing

Once you've saved the script, start a command prompt and navigate to the directory in which COM_Restore.vbs was registered. Type the following command:

    cscript COM_Restore.vbs

Once you see a pop-up with "Restored backup!", you can close the command prompt and restart the client computer. »

  • I've updated to Firefox 36 automatically, however, it does not start. I tried firefox safe mode, reinstall, uninstall avg antivirus, eks.

The computer restarts during the night to install updates. Everything was fine, but now Firefox, which has been updated to version 36, will not launch. Basically, I double click on it, I get a little access to the disk and nothing. I tried to start firefox safe mode. Same thing is happening. I uninstalled by deleting any Mozilla Firefox files, programs and relocation. Still will not start. I uninstalled the old version of AVG. Still will not start. I have Microsoft Security Essentials running and have updated. Still will not start. I need new ideas.

I just want to confirm a step that you took. When you say you deleted the program files Firefox content, this may have taken all the Firefox of the components off of your computer.

The steps that you must follow to remove a potentially corrupted installation of firefox are:

Open your Start menu, select "program files." In program files, select "Programs and features", this should open your window "uninstall or change a program". In this window, locate your program "Mozilla Firefox". Select the program with a left click then "Uninstall", which will appear once the program is highlighted.

This process will remove the registry changes that can ask questions. After you completely uninstall firefox from your programs, perform a new installation of the latest version of the browser.

If you have already completed this process without success, so there may be other problems with your windows updates, it's not uncommon. If you have problems after a new installation of Firefox, after following the instructions above, please check if your browser "Internet Explorer" is to have the same questions, if yes, then you may have problems more serious that will require new measures.

  • Computer will not remain in standby mode.

I have a computer with Windows XP, about 5 years old who often will not remain in standby mode. After 30-45 seconds it starts again and the display shows again the office.

Does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation what to do about it?

Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello JJLinker, welcome.

The issue is likely caused by "Wake by " settings in your power options. This gives a shot:

    1. click on START
    2. right click "My computer" and select "Properties".
"3. click on the tab"Hardware", then select Device Manager.
    4. expand the "Network adapters" category
    5. right click on each of the devices and select "Properties".
    6. on each, go to the tab "power management."
7 turn off the checkbox "allow this device to wake...". ' and click on 'Ok '.
    8. close all windows and restart the computer

  • Can Fax and Scan works when the computer is in standby?

I am relying on Windows Fax & Scan (WFS) to try repeatedly fax a document until it succeeds.  He will continue to try even if it goes into mode after the time period specified in power options?  Right now, I've set High Performance from switch to "standby" mode, but it seems like a waste to keep the fully active computer only try to fax from time to time.  It's a must to send the fax, but if the computer doesn't have to be quite awake to do this, or if she'll wake to do that, so much better.  For example, I understand the HD turns down mode "Eve".  If there is enough RAM, I wonder if the HD even turn up just to send the fax.

    Hi Frank,.

If Windows Fax and Scan is set to auto answer mode and your ring-in modem is defined as a factor in reactivation - usually required to be put in the BIOS of the motherboard (Basic input and output system) - the system will be woken up and answered the call.

Note: Changing the BIOS / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    1. You have security software installed on the computer?
    2. You receive an error message when you restart the computer?

Reinstalling Windows XP to the factory setting would not be the first option.

It is possible that some third-party programs or the services installed on the computer interfere with the installation of service pack 3.
