    When I click on anything that opens a dialog box in Windows 7 Home Premium (version 6.1), I then have to click the dialog box to make it active.  An example is an Excel file protected by password... when I opened the file, the password used to be active for me box so I can just type the password and press ENTER... now I have to first click on the box.
    It started a while ago and more of a nuisance than anything else... • When you rename a file highlights only the name and not the name extension.

    Hi all

    When I rename a file, it highlights only the name part of the file name and not the name extension.  I need the name of entire file highlighted when I rename a file.  Where is the setting to change this?

    Thank you

    Pete

    Hi Pete,.

    Engineers also writes a blog on why they made this change, but to prevent millions of calls to support technical questions "I renamed my file and now it no longer opens.
    It might be possible to change this behavior with editing the registry, but I couldn't immediately find a reference to such a value.
    However, I have a workaround.  I usually press F2 to rename a file (I'm a lover of keyboard, hate having to use the mouse).  So I click on F2, then if I need to select both file extension, I can make one of these:
    • Press Ctrl-A
      or
    • Press SHIFT - end
    I generally use the method of shift - end because it's closer where my fingers are already on the keyboard (I'm a lover of keyboard, but I'm too lazy).  Hope this helps at least a little.
  • Save dialog box under does not display the list of files

    Terminal Server R2 of 2012.  Dialog box "Save as" for a user does not display the list of files.  The address bar shows the way, there is a form for the file name box, and the user can save the file successfully.  But the space that would show the files in the selected directory is empty.  There is no form for the list of files box, it's just the grey box dialog box space - that is to say, it is not that it looks like an empty folder, there is simply no display form box.

    The 'Open' dialog box appears normal, showing the list of files in the selected folder.

    I had the user close the session on the Terminal Server and access it from another PC, even if I was not expecting to make a difference, and it didn't.  I have also connected on myself and has not experienced the same problem.  So it seems to be user-specific.

    What a setting, the user has selected by mistake, or a mistake any?

    Thanks for any help.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
  • First Watch a unexplained file to open a project dialog box but does not say what he wants or case?  Really?
    It is a common phenomenon: I opened a project in first, and instead of the interface user of first, I see a file dialog box.  Apparently first is looking for a file, since there is an option for "display only exact name match.»
    But corresponds with what?  Is nowhere on the screen there a file name, or anything to tell me first seeks.  Isn't this monumentally stupid?
    And so forth, over and over again for each file first can not find.  Your only viable solution is to hit "Skip All", since you are never given a file name.
    Once the project is in place, you can browse your timelines for any red video event.  And when you do a right-click on one of them to view its properties, first show you often inexplicably the name of an audio file.  Sometimes, you see the name of a video file.  But what is missing here, Adobe?  THE path.  You get the name of the file and nothing else.  You have still no idea where first expected to find the file, so you have no way of troubleshooting of his disappearance.
    And I thought the dialogue of media-reissue of old FCP links was bad.  Is there a solution for this?  What is the workflow expected here?
    Thank you!
    Looks like you're on Mac El Capitan (OS 10.11.x), is that correct? If Yes, some dialogs changed with 10.11 Mac and affected dialog boxes are more display the title bar, which is where this information is displayed (this affects a number of applications, not just the first one). Is a question that is being investigated because he was not a problem on Mac OS 10.10.x.
    Since CS6, it has improved to the Media link dialog box (as seen in the screenshot by shooternz).
  • Unable to restart or shut down Windows when a USB modem is connected to the computer
    When I plug a USB modem, either 3 G or dial-up, my computer will restart or shut down. It complements the normal stop the procedure, but instead of actually put back in power, the screen becomes black and stay like that. After a manual stop, Windows reports that he is recovered from a serious error. I have had this problem since I first installed Windows Vista about half a year ago.   • No wireless networks not found on laptop - the WiFi windows service does not work on this computer
    Hello
    I have a laptop model Toshiba P205-56347 running Vista home premium and a lynksis WRT54G V8 router model.  The WLAN light is solid and the internet light flashes on the Linksys.  I have Comcast cable as my ISP.
    I've seen reported similar problems.  All of a sudden my wirless acess stopped working, some networks are displayed and I get the message 'windows wireless service does not work on the computer.  I am not able to restart the windows wireless.  I can't connect to the internet on the laptop.  I have a DELL PC and can access the internet here if necessary.
    In the network and Discovery Center, I see that network discovery is disabled.  I can't set it to on.
    Under system devices, I have the following network cards: Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS6.0).
    Help, please.  I'd appreciate any help.  I need a good starting point for resolution and wouldn't start using suggestions that corrects other issues.  I design financial systems and purchase online, but I'm not a technical person with regard to updates Vista, drivers, etc..
    Thank you! After reviewing the responses to similar problems, can anyone suggest if I should try one of the following values: 1. run SCF/scannow at the command prompt I don't know what that's going to fix it and do not want to make the current problem worse. 2. download the driver for the network drivers. If you would be grateful if someone could help me find the driver and download it. 3 reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 since the restoration of Toshiba CD I would appreciate greatly any information. Donna
    Hi blondswede,
    You can try running sfc/scannow to see if you have corrupted files. That won't be a further problem on your pc. After that, you want to make sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop, especially drivers of the NIC (network card). Go to the following link to Toshiba for your model and download those:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=SB&OS=&category=&MOID=1757721&RPN=PSPB3U&modelFilter=P205-S6347&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663
    If you're still having problems, and it has recently emerged as a problem, you can try to restore your system to a point in time before the problem started to use the system restore. Here are the steps to follow:
      1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
      2. In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
      3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
      4. Click Finish.
      The System Restore tool
      If the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
      To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
      The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.
