The file is setup.exe.  Depending on your version of Windows 95 CD, it could be in the WIN95 folder or in a subfolder of WIN95.

If you have more Windows 95 questions, great places to get responses are microsoft.public.win95.setup and microsoft.public.win95.general.discussion newsgroups.  It is a Windows XP forum.

    Hello Asad Khan,

Thanks for choosing Windows and thank you for providing an opportunity to help you.

According to the description, it seems that you are having problems with error code 0 x 80070017 while installing Windows 8.

The 0 x 80070017 translates "CRC error" error which means that the files that are copied from the disc are not making it to the drive hard with the same structure, which means that the 'original' files on the drive are modified/changed/corrupted while in being copied to the location of the 'destination' on your hard drive during installation.

This usually means a bad DVD, or an error reading on the DVD player.

    Hi Robert,.

Thanks for the screenshot of your system information.

As you can see in the screenshot, on the right side, the Description indicates that this is a CD-ROM drive, it means that it's a player-CD (Read Only Memory) which can only read the discs, but cannot write data to the disk. You may need to replace it with a CD/DVD burner drive for read/write drives.

Hope this information is useful. If you have any additional questions on the issue, please post back, we will be happy to help you.

I restore an HP Pavilion computer and try to install Windows XP Home Edition, with the button on the side of the computer.  I contacted HP and they no longer have an available for this computer recovery CD.  So, I tried to install a copy of Windows XP Edition retail family, but when I enter the OEM product key I get "invalid key".  I read on this forum that you can not mix the OEM disc/keys with detail, but it seems that I don't have to buy another copy of Windows when it came with my computer.  What choices do I have?

    None!

So I don't Support HP and Microsoft no help either.  Activation Center asked me to call the Department of parts (which is incorrect) and the parts Department told me that they cannot provide Windows which was distributed by HP!  Microsoft changed this start with Vista, so I do not understand why they are always telling customers that.

  • No keyboard when you install Windows XP on Satellite P300 PSPCCA

OK, I just got my new 500 GB HDD and slipstreamed XP with SATA for XP drivers can see the HARD drive and the game works fine.

But now after XP loads its files and I get to the part where you can choose between configuring XP on the selected partition (ENTER key), create a partition (C button) or delete a partition (key D) none of them works, not even the key F3 to exit.

The keyboard doesn't have a driver to be slipstreamed so or is there a setting in the BIOS that needs to be changed? All of the suggestions.

I wonder why you're not abele to use the keyboard. Usually Setup will load the necessary drivers when you first before install this option screen appears

When I try to install Windows XP from the Dell Windows Professional CD it will install on the Setup screen when you partition the hard drive, but when it starts to install Windows its self, it will go to a blue screen after about 30 seconds.

Well, the main issue is that you cannot use a Dell Windows XP reinstall on one different computer than Dell drive.  You don't have a Dell computer because the motherboard came not from Dell. • 0x800F0826 error code when you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1

I bought Adobe Creative Suite CS4, so the installer tells me that I am in need of Vista Service Pack 1 to continue to install the programs. So, naturally, I go online and try to find the Service Pack 1. Mind you, I was never even offered the service pack via Windows Update... I wasn't even aware that they came out with ALL the service packs for Windows Vista. I am running Home Premium, by the way.

So find a download of the Service Pack and it ends after about an hour and a half. I'm going to install the service pack, and everything seems to go well until a few hours later when I get back to my computer and I have a message waiting on my office saying that the installation has failed. I studied the error code I received online (0x800F0826), and I noticed that a lot of people said it had to do with the updates that had already failed to install on Windows Update. Well, a lot of commentators on the issue suggested looking in Windows Update history and are looking for any updates. Well, it turns out that I have TONS that had failed in the past. I read that the updates that had a different other than 0x800F0826 error code were probably the cause of the problem. Well, they ALL have a different other than 0x800F0826 error code.

What I noticed though, is that all have the error code: 80070057. I was eager to get a glimpse of this problem pretty quickly because I have a class to come within 10 days that requires the use of Adobe CS4 software and I can not install it until I get the service pack work! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you.

    Hi notpaul,
If you have not yet resolved this so I will answer your questions regarding upgrade\restore.  If you have a bunch of updates failed and are not offered SP1, the faster would be to do a factory restore.  Then immediately, run Windows Update until you are offered are no longer updated.  Then you can reinstall the programs and data.
If you want to upgrade to Windows 7, so make sure that you perform the custom installation.  This option will do a clean install of the operating system.  You will need to reinstall your programs and would need to make a backup of all your data before the installation.  Here is a link to Windows 7 install information. • When you install Windows Vista on a laptop I get this error code 0 x 80070057

I tried to fix & mobile friends for a while now & I have noticed that, during the installation of Windows Vista, it fails with a few different answers. The error code that showed, the majority being 0 x 80070057.

The laptop is a MSI VR602 with a broken DVD player (I was the installation via USB) & other potential problems.

A past remarkable repair I knew everything was the screen being smashed.

However, when I saw if I could install it on my custom built computer installation flows well (I used the laptop HARD drive)

I then tried using the disk HARD in the portable windows would begin not with success.

I think that the cause could be the big difference in the environment.

I formatted the HARD drive many times & installed via USB laptops with the same result.

I also noticed another post that it is possible that the SATA connections could be blamed.

Also at the start I noticed he said something like 'S.M.A.R.T. capable but failed the control unit'. When you check this on my computer, when starting my CHIP on my HARD drive just off computer & laptops.

The HARD drive is a Western Digital WD2500BEVT.

Windows Vista Home Basic final first version so that I could use the original serial code.

I can't try it with an another HARD drive that I have not access to all.

It would work if the installer has used the same exact files two mega & but there is no chance of this change.

If someone happens to have a copy of the MSI files used on this computer is would be muched aprciated. (Sorry for the bad spelling)

    It is a 32-bit system.

Another point is that when I tried to install Windows XP it installed for most, but crashed & had the problem with hal.dll file missing.

Please post a reply if you know one. If you need information additional just ask.

Don't worry, I managed to solve the problem. It's a corrupt installer. I have the laptop runs like new.
