When you open a new window, Firefox 9.0.1 gives me a message "Go to a Web site" in the address bar, no matter which site I am for and does not display the URL I'm watching and the stop/reload button is grayed out. Is there a way to fix this?
I'm under Firefox 9.0.1 windows environment 7. It is a problem I've had with Firefox 8, so, even if it's only when I opened my home page, no new window.
I prefer the new window that looks at a display by tabs, and when I click on a link and a new browser window opens, all my base control (forward, back, stop/reload) buttons are gray except home.
Hello
An extension can cause the problem. Please check if this happens in Safe Mode.

I don't know if they are technically pop-up windows (for example, if you perform a search on kayak.com, it will automatically open a new window of priceline.com with the search results), but that happens with Blocker on or off. Other examples are a little info to a financial site window or .edu, which opens a session is about to expire, or answer a FAQ (with the exception of the priceline example, these windows have an address bar or view a URL). In any case, once these windows are closed, if I try to open a new window, it will automatically load the content of this "pop-up". Whenever he does, I'm unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in this window.
How can I fix it? What I want is to open a new window which is empty, not load the previous contents.
No, I just realized that I was holding Command-Shift-N rather than command-N

Firefox crashes when you open a new window
Firefox normally opens and runs until I properly - close all windows. When zero windows are present, and I go back to Firefox and ask for a new window, Firefox crashes. To solve the problem I have to force quit the application, which generates an Apple crash report. Occasionally Firefox has crashed on its own and generated a Mozilla crash report, but this is rare. I tried to disable all add-ons, but that has no effect.
As long as there is at least one Firefox window opens, the functions of the application normally. This problem only occurs when going from zero windows to stop.
After checking each Add on, beef Taco has been identified as the cause of the problem.

No text at all in the address bar when you open a new window
After update (last 2 I think?) currently 16.0.2 worm, when I open a link in a new window, there is no text in the adressbar. The reload or bookmarking a page like this does not work because the address is empty, I have to open the properties page copy the link, paste it into the address field and go to the page. He can not find any info on how to restore the previous working state. Present address in new tabs, links in the same window, etc.
It's weird. Couple questions:
Does it matter how to open new window, for example, if you (1) right click > open link in a new window, (2) shift + click the link, or (3) there is a pop up generated by the page?
If you right click on the content of the page, the menu has a submenu 'this framework', which would indicate that the page is framed?
Where this is caused by an add-on, a standard Diagnostics in order to avoid interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try the Mode without failure of Firefox.
First of all, I recommend you backup your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox. (You can copy your profile folder Firefox together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder).
Then restart Firefox in Mode safe (questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode) of Firefox help
Help > restart with disabled modules
In the dialog box, click "start mode safe."
If the site is working properly, it points to one of your extensions or custom as the problem settings.
To disable the plugins and extensions, you can try here:
Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > Plugins category

OK... um, I'm on Mac OS10.4.11 (not sure about the last two digits, but you get the idea). I installed the latest update of Firefox maybe a week ago... my monitor crapped out yesterday, so I replaced it with a bigger I had to hang out. I have used this monitor with this machine before and had no problem with getting Firefox to open links I clicked on in a new tab. As directed by your help site, I checked "size" of the monitor and it was as always. I have even reduced the "size" of the screen, but not joy.
What gives, oh a powerful?

When you open a new tab Firefox remains on the old tab and does not switch to the new. I could not fing where correct this (in tools)
Ah, I see. As far as I know, this behavior is not subject to a preference of the user. My best guess is that an extension or plugin interferes. To test this theory, you can try to use mode without failure of Firefox:

I tried following the advice offered in the different threads bit I found on this but nothing works out. I want the cursor to be in the address bar when I open a new window or when firefox opens without restoring a previous session. I solved the problem for new tabs via subject: config, but it does not work for the new windows. I tried safe mode and the problem persists. In a new private window, the cursor is in the address bar.
A new window opens the homepage (default: subject: House) and not the new tab page (default: subject: newtab).
Some of the built-in pages set the focus to the search bar on the web page, just like the Google site only.
You can use a bookmark in the bookmarks toolbar that opens the subject: blank page.
If you hold down the SHIFT key when you click this bookmark, then you open a new widow with this page.
Otherwise, you need to set the home page to about: blank or on the point: about to have easy access to all the pages. -
Just installed Firefox 9.0.1. When you open a new browser session, two tabs will open. One is my home page, and the other is a home page of Firefox. I want to just my home page to open. How do I get there? Thank you.

In the old version of Firefox, when I opened a new tab, firefox remember and displays previous tabs open when I click on the + to the new tab. This display last has shown several places I visited and I could automatically click it to bring up this last point of view. In this function, I could go to one of my last 6 views quite easily and make it appear one of them as a shortcut.

When you open an fdf file, firefox goes into an infinite loop of creating a new tab, reading a local file (I think that a copy of the fdf file), opening a new tab, read the same file, etc.. The only solution is to reset the machine.
For now, I guess that the solution is to open the FDF externally (i.e. in Reader or Acrobat and not the plugin).

When you open a new tab, why firefox suggests my recent history when I checked ever "broadcast history" on the settings?
If you have visited sites in no Private Browsing mode then there still may be the thumbnails of the pages in the cache.
Only pages that you visit in PB mode should not show on the subject: newtab page.Empty the cache must do the thumbnails disappear on refresh.
