When you rename a file highlights only the name and not the name extension.
Hi all
When I rename a file, it highlights only the name part of the file name and not the name extension. I need the name of entire file highlighted when I rename a file. Where is the setting to change this?
Thank you
Pete

When you rename a file change the last timestamp consulted?
I was in a heated debate with one of my instructors today associated with a test on the access timestamp question when you rename a file. Through my research and testing to rename a file via the command prompt, it does not appear that the process of renaming a file will change the date of that last file access. Access and modify times will change to the directory that contains the file, but not the file itself. So my understanding is that it is not, however, my instructor insists that it is, can someone shed some light on this topic please?

When you import WMV files, I only get the first seconds of my film.
I'm doing a correction of color on a wedding video. The video was captured using Windows movie capture software and saved to a WMV file.
The file is approximately 700 MB and 50 minutes long. When I import the file that the project tab shows how we don't about 25 seconds. When I saw it, although 25 seconds will appear. He made this for all the wedding videos that I import.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
What version of AE and with what parameters of compression were they captured? Flow premature endings usually points to the VBR encoding, which AE does not particularly like. From Movie Maker files can also contain data specific to the program as the edit markers, which could also be misinterpreted by AE. Check things and maybe try different settings. Otherwise, just use VirtualDub and similar tools to convert conventional opinion or other formats.

Is it possible to cancel when you rename a file?
(1) music files moved to mobile phone (USB mass storage mode)
(2) phone has the limitation on the characters of filename
(3) changed a filename and the next thing I know, I have 25 files renamed "BB King & Claption - Riding With the King" (of course, each with [2], [3], etc. [4] annexed)
(4) looked anywhere obvious for "UNDO" command (NO obvious!)
(5) waste of time connect the [so-called] relevant search terms help... Nada!
(6) could someone please direct me to the absolutely necessary UNDO function in this case, work with files in a folder!
Thank you, in advance.
There is a short window of opportunity to cancel action (move, rename, copy type) file in Windows Explorer or the windows folder using the Edition Menu (or by pressing Ctrl-Z). You will see Cancel Rename as option for example. Only the most recent file action is not achievable, so it is too late.
It seems that you had several selected files when you made the name change. When you have several selections that Windows renamed it using the name that you enter and sequential numbers in square brackets.

I'm trying to rename a pdf file, so it can make it through a projection of corporate firewall, such as requested by the company. They taught me that to send PDFs from a personal account, I need to rename it so that the file extension ".ngpdf". I can't get that to work. Any suggestions?
Ah, maybe I understand - you do not see the file extension?
You must change your Windows Explorer settings to show the file extension. Here are the instructions for Windows 7; It should be similar for Windows 8.x: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions#show-hide-file-n soul-extensions = windows-7

WRT160N guard dropping Internet when you transfer large files or using the Zune software
WRT160N wired for 3 PC (only regularly on 1 - Vista), Wired XBox 360 on or off - does not seem to effect things) (normally closed) Wii wireless, wireless laptop Vista
Everything works fine, except when I download either a file (for example when my Zune software is downloading podcasts each day), or when I transfer or access files on the network (copy or modification of the files of the laptop on the desk)-any attempt to do something on the internet is to expire. I don't lose my connection, just cannot get anywhere.
Any help is appreciated.

I have about 30 different address books. Some of them where the old but I didn't want to delete them. I wanted them more at the top of my list I'm went to properties and adds 'z' - the name of the folder to the bottom of the list. Now, I can't see the address books that I have renamed. What happened to them and how to make them come back?
Excellent news.
You did exactly the correct changes in the right places.
You could see that the description of file name for the file .mab was missing - the string was empty and if the actual address book is not in your address book list, even if it still existed in the profile folder.
Good to hear everything is now sorted. -
When you save MHTML files, I get the icon of IE instead of Mozilla.
When using Mozilla/Firefox, I can't save new files MHTML with Firefox icon icon - the seems to be the same as "text icon. Also, I can't use the "open with" to change the existing icons IE MHTML files to the Firefox icon. Some icons of FF are correct, such as the start icon FF on desktop and on the menu of the button 'start '. All other HTML files on the desktop and in folders still show the original icons of IE. By deep Googling, I find suggestions to remove "defaulticon" and other changes in the registry. None of them seem to work and make the problem worse.

How can I change it please help me...
Visit this link for the dialog that I saw when I am trying to rename the fileLooks like you are trying to remove the extension. Probably because you do not know its there - by default, Windows HIDES extensions knows it.
Use Control Panel-folder Options (or select it from the Tools drop-down in Windows Explorer). Click the view tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", and then click OK.
The name of your file will now show you its extension, i.e. the bit after the point. The extension defines what program will try to open the default file. If you change the extension so it can not open by double click.
When you rename, do not change the bit after the point, unless you know it's the right thing to do.

Delay of the dialog 'Copy the file' when you drag a file to a folder that already contains.
Delay of the dialog 'Copy the file' when you drag a file to a folder that already contains. The dialog box only appears when that I disconnect. In fact this problem can seriously mislead the user. The file has been copied to or not? This is a serious shortcoming of the operating system.
A similarly delayed dialog box is to join files on a send to the recipient of the message. What is the cause of the delay? Dialog boxes are not under other windows - they break on screen as I log out.
When I drag AGAIN the same file in the same folder, then I get a message that "the action cannot be completed because the file is open in another program. (No doubt the program who was trying to copy in the first attempt and waits for a response to the dialog box may not show me!)
Hardware: Computer laptop Asus M70. VISTA Ultimate with the latest patches.
Lorien, thanks for your response.
A lot of time and effort was exercised in an attempt to find out WHY. I wanted to not just fix the symptoms. It concerned me greatly as a basic function of the operating system does not work. He was not fit for purpose. In the end I found that a third-party application compromised of WINDOWS VISTA 32-bit operating system. If an operating system can not reliably inform the user that an operation is successful or not, it is worthless. In the case above, I didn't move the files was a success (no response required) or the delayed response until I signed. In addition to the original problem, there was the following problem: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/24068518-31e0-4b23-823b-d54882792301 where "send to..." 'Recipient' disable the context menu in Explorer for JPG does not or not broken.
Finally, I figured out the following error had something to do with my problems:
Description:
The server {AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} is not registered with DCOM within the required time.Arriving in my solution, I was inspired by the following articles http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2006/08/31/453100.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2006/11/27/532465.aspx
So I downloaded the MS debug tools and confirmed my suspicion of dllhost.dll using REGEDIT to set debugging on that.
To cut a long story short, it's DivX 7.2 which caused me grief. In particular, the file DivXDecH264.ax 'has an access violation - code C0000005 (first chance). It has been autonomous in DivX Plus DirectShow Filters. Thus, when it has been deleted (starting other Articles to original install DivX) through Control Panel of configuration/programs and features my system worked perfectly well.I know SFA on the architecture of Windows but why was this DivX file loading and cause an access violation whenever I used the windows Explorer? How an operating system may fail in a basic function of by a third party issue? There are some newspaper where this access violation was recorded? It was only possible to identify it in debugging?
