Windows Install Cleanup Tool error when you try to install it on Windows Vista Business
After a failed installation of Adobe CS 4 on my Windows Vista Business 32-bit system, I am now unable to update or uninstall anything Adobe on my PC. I had read several forums, Adobe specifically, when users suggested to install and use the Windows Installer Clean up tool. I have successfully used this app in the past with Windows XP, but when I try to install on my Vista box cleaning tool I am immediately presented with the error:
Windows Script Host: There is no script engine for file extension ".vbs".
Does anyone know a solution for this? I tried hunting one down a few months ago, but could not find something that solved this problem. Or are the users of Vista GROUND just when it comes to this cleanup tool? I want desperately to remove/repair my Adobe products (which work, but cannot be updated) without the need to make a nuclear weapon and to open and lose time reloading of each piece of software, to restore the profiles of boards, etc...
Hello NMITGuy,
You can view the following information about the error: there is no script engine for file extension ".vbs".
http://www.Winhelponline.com/blog/error-there-is-no-script-engine-for-file-extension-when-running-vbs-files/Please let us know if that helps.

The "partially encrypted" icon is not orange (it is grayed out), however, it is as if the icon displayed as 'clear' and if clicked reflects the 'partially encrypted message. " I spent hours trying to determine what the problem is. The 'normal' padlock appears first (was always gray), then immediately disappears and the triangle-shaped icon is there. I have used Firefox for more years that I can remember and never had a problem like this.
And since we're on the subject of Yahoo! mail...
Many users have had problems with the download of attachments or other issues/features to display in recent weeks. Yahoo! has moved accounts among its servers and sometimes when you use an old favorite, you are not redirected to a fully functional server.
To work around this problem, log off from Yahoo and access your mail one of these two ways:
- Yahoo home page: https://www.yahoo.com/
- From the My Yahoo page: https://my.yahoo.com/
- Generic mail forwarding: https://mail.yahoo.com/
If you get to a working server, change your old bookmark for the new address.

Error when you try to add a basic Windows Vista Home Edition user account password.
I would like to add a password to secure my PC a little more by doing the following:
AutoScan (Vista Orb) > Control Panel > user accounts > create a password for your account
I enter a password to 10 characters. I tried more or less characters, a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers etc, but everything I try I get the following message:"The password you entered does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements"
I am running Vista Home Basic.
I checked the Windows updates are all to date.
I tried to create a new user account and create a password for the new account (both of my main user account and the new user account) and I get the same message.
I also activated the 'Administrator' account (cmd > net user administrator / Active: Yes) and tried to use the administrator account to create a password and it does not work either!
I ran Microsoft Security Essentials software, choose scan "Full". The software found no viruses or malware on my computer, but he did put in quarantine RealVNC (software remote access we use occasionally to work).
I have created a screenshots of system information (to show which operating system I use), the dialogue 'create password for your account' (to show that I am logged on as administrator and to make sure that I do not have the process wrong--always possible!) and the error message "user account control panel.
I also took a screenshot of the thing that MSE found after analysis is complete on my system.
Microsoft Security Essentials here Info
Any ideas what to do here? I tried searching online and through this forum but have been unable to find someone who had the same problem, and even less it is solved!
Thank you
ChasSTW
Just a point, I would like to make...
There are some characters/symbols that are not allowed to be used as passwords.
Hope that you have not used one of these.t-4-2

Original title: adware on my laptop
I have
I'm "Access is denied" when you try to delete some advertising software which has been downloaded to my laptop somehow. I tried to delete these files using my add/REMOVE icon, as well as through my C drive, listing files, and the attempt to delete in this way.

The files are:
