You can delete the file prefs.js and possible numbered prefs-# .js and a user.js file possible to reset all default prefs. You will have to redo your settings in tools > Options.

You can also opt to change the file prefs.js and delete the corresponding lines or to reset these prefs by default via the context menu if you know what prefs are involved or keep only the parameters that you are sure of which still operate.

  • Firefox beta 18 'unresponsive' whenever I load a page. This didn't happen as well with FF3.5.4.

I tried various updates/upgrades (4 and higher) Firefox updated. I currently have beta 18 of the combustion chamber. Whenever I load a page, the browser always crashes and I get "Not responding" in the status bar. The blocking time is usually longer than a few minutes or I leave the program via the Task Manager. Sometimes after the Frost, I get a "warning: script was insensitive" popup and then it will freeze again (I can't even press 'stop the script' or 'continue') because the popup is "not responding".

I don't seem to have this problem with FF3.5.4 (only this version has found to be compatible) but I can't display flash plugins/media or certain features of a webpage because it is not updated. I would therefore not downgrade to 3.5.4 because there is no point if I can't see half the things on a page...

If you have updated from version as old as 3.5.4, then you run the risk to be faced with problems. You should start with a fresh profile to ensure old preferences, the data files and the changes made by the extensions do not interfere.

Start by creating a backup copy of your file profile, just to be sure.

Then use the reset Firefox feature.

If the problem persists, see the following article.

Do not reinstall the older versions of Firefox. They contain security flaws and should not be used. Very old versions may be also unable to manage data files in your folder for profiles in their new formats, which can lead to all sorts of problems. And finally, many sites Web requires a modern browser to work properly.

I can't find the icon 'stop loading this page' on Firefox 4.

(heavily) I found the reload icon page. In general, I find places icon Firefox 4 less "intuitive" than its predecessors.

I think it's the same button, actually. Loading a page it display an 'X' and after that it loads, it displays the circular arrow of reloading.

  • File Explorer Windows 8 crashes whenever I do a right click on the USB key.

File Explorer Windows 8 crashes every time I do a right click on installed - everything - USB or flash key and try to choose options, such as format, rename them or properties.  Windows Explorer crashes, closed its doors, and I'm sent back to the Start Page.  This happens with any USB key, on one of the ports on my computer, which I have at least 10.

I can left click on USB in the file Explorer, and held one still able to open or interact with any file in the USB. I can save to the USB port of any other program, and I can usually eject it in the taskbar. The only problem is I can't do a right click on the USB key and select a function without kicks back to the start page and the file Explorer is restarted.

My version of Windows 8 is an upgrade to Windows 7.  I have already tried a restart secure, and even in this State, the accident continues.

I had the same problem with any flash/stick/key USB on my system (64-bit) Windows 8 Pro. I started out of the blue, had not installed a new software or updates. I couid do a right-click on the drive and get the menu, but any action in the menu I chose stop and restart Windows Explorer (without any error message.) I also tried the cleanboot approach with no luck.

The solution that worked was to move the mouse to the bottom left of the screen and right click.
    Select prompt (Admin)
    in the cmd window, type:
    sfc/scannow
    and press ENTER.
After about 15 minutes (about 4 minutes to check and then a little more than 11 minutes waiting while he was working in the background - but it seemed frozen. My system is an i7, 16 GB of Ram, 512 GB SSD drive - so your time may vary), I received a message that some corrupt files had been repaired and some had not. The newspaper was in a txt file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS if the log file was inaccessible. I got a popup access denied .
I rebooted the system and everything was fine and the problem of USB has been fixed.

The iPad does not support USB keys. There are some wireless flash drives that can be used, but not the classical records. I suggest you transfer files to a computer and their synchronization then back to the iPad via iTunes.

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.

  • BitLocker without TPM refuses to recognize the USB key at startup.

I have a Windows 7 PC, I'd need to BitLocker, but it fails to recognize the USB key at startup. I've resorted to skip verification and now enter the recovery key every time you start (this PC has a lot of data on what should be confidential), but it's not ideal.

What is curious to me, is that the computer will start perfectly fine from a USB key, or produce a message of type "non system disk or disk error", if the USB key in question is not bootable. So it is not a matter of lack compatibility USB BIOS. When Bitlocker should read, yet there is no actifvity on the USB key. It seems to just try to read the empty floppy drive then give up.

The PC is an all-in-one RM with an Intel D915GX motherboard.

I tried two different USB, 64 megabytes cheapo player drives I usually use as a Bitlocker key and a 2 GB Cruzer Blade. I mucked with some of the BIOS settings but not in a particularly organized way. And I checked the key file is saved on the disk. Everything I did, Bitlocker will not always see the USB.

    Any suggestions?

  • How can I get Firefox to save a password for one that I deleted?

I have a bookmark in a Web site that has saved my login and my password. I changed the password but not asked to update. For all other websites for which I changed my password for Firfox asked if I wanted to update the password. So I deleted the entry for user name and password for this Web site. However, he still reminds the user name but will not be asked if I want to save the password. Why the change? Why can't I save my new password?

This Web site may use autocomplete = off to prevent registration of data in form as the name and password of Firefox.

You can remove autocomplete = off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox to store data of form such as names and passwords.

Note that Firefox doesn't form data automatically populate automatically saved when autocomplete = off is used, you must double-click the empty name field for a drop-down list.

Problems with bookmarks and history does not properly can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.

Windows XP SP3 has ceased to recognize a USB flash drive and card reader that he always acknowledged in the past. I tried to use Fix - It to correct the problem. Fix - It is then asked to restart the computer. When the computer is restarted, it would not load. After waiting almost two hours, I restarted with the last good configuration. Then reloaded, it took nearly an hour. Before using the Fix - It, the computer was loading in less than five minutes after a reboot. There a lot of things on it. What can I do now to solve the problem posed by Fix - It and also correct the problem with XP recognizes does not flash drives?

    Hi lental,

    ·         Have what fixit you tried?

    ·         Do you have an error message when you try to start the computer in normal mode?

    ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

    ·         You're able to boot in safe mode?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
