Whenever I open Firefox, it restores my previous session without being invited.

I set parameters so that when I start Firefox to go on my home page, which is just the Mozilla Firefox start page. Despite this option is defined, it always restore my previous session every time I open Firefox.

One of the possible reasons are a statement in a user.js file. Firefox checks a file user.js at startup, and it replaces your own preferences. This article describes how to check for this problem as possible: How to fix preferences that will not save.

Another possible reason is if Firefox does not close properly and is still recovering from a perceived fall. To see if this is the issue, you can change what Firefox works after an accident so that instead of automatically display tabs from the previous session, it shows you a list of the tabs. Here's how:

(A) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

(B) in the search above the list box, type or paste sess and make a pause so that the list is filtered

(C) double-click the preference browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and enter 0 (that's a zero) and click OK.

The next time Firefox starts if you get the screen saying 'it's embarrassing"and display a list of your last session tabs, then the problem is that Firefox crashes on shutdown.

Does this help with your startup?

Whenever I start firefox I get a message saying that it is so embarrassing to try but not to restore my previous session and it gives me the opportunity to be close the page and go to the home screen, or to restore my previous session. My preferences has the show my home page selected, every time I close Firefox, I close the page by pressing the red x, and then I put the firefox icon or the tab of firefox at the top of my screen and select Exit. Firefox crashed last night while I was asleep, and when I woke up this morning to turn it back on, the crash reporter asked me that if I wanted to restart firefox, I did, but when it is loaded, instead of asking if I wanted to restore my previous session, he loaded a blank page which had a white patch is looking for unusual at the top where the tab bar is supposed to be , with the legs of loading below.

    sessionstore.bak files are no longer used in current versions of Firefox, so they are probably for some time ago (seven 2014:20140923175406) and may no longer be of use.

    One possible way to inspect a sessionstore.js file or a file in the sessionstore-backups folder is open in a Firefox tab and to evaluate that JavaScript code in the Web Console (Firefox/tools > Web Developer).

    Paste the code into the Web Console command line and press the Enter key to evaluate the code.

    eval("ss = "+document.body.innerHTML.replace("<pre>","").replace("</pre>",""));

    for (var i = 0; i < ss.windows[0].tabs.length; i++) {
     var ent = ss.windows[0].tabs[i].entries;
     var last = ent[ent.length-1];
     sd+="["+(i+1)+"]:"+"<a href="+last.url+">"+last.url+"</a><br />";

  • I'm fed up with Firefox, I can't seem to restore my previous session. I'm ininstalling it.

    I think it's because of software (adware or virus) on your computer or Web sites you visit. Many of these change home pages without the consent of the user as a way to aggressive advertising or people of the scam. Generally, these target your browser by default, so even if you go to Maxthon, you might get some problem. To avoid this, you must use anti-virus software to find viruses and adware, then remove them.

    Even with the adware you can probably always restore your previous session by clicking on the "Firefox" > 'History' > ' restore previous Session ' (or 'History' > 'restoration of previous Session"If you do not have the"Firefox"button).

  • Firefox restore my previous session every time. How can I do this by default for ONLY my home page at startup?

    This problem started one day without changing any parameters passed month. I read every tip, tips s, and detailed instructions for these settings on the Firefox support forum, but without talking to my PC to clear my history every time then it starts my previous session without fail. My story saved, I want to have my previous session to be the Firefox start page. It is very irritating when I start Firefox and have to go and close five tabs as well as by clicking on the home button just to get to that I've specified to be my homepage. I am very distraught because I just read a question which was published more than 3 months ago with exactly the same problem but no solution. In any case, I thank everyone's help.

    Please: no suggestion that would involve the that I've never touched a computer. If it's essential... I already made the attempt.

    You can remove the user.js file as you do not need and it was probably created by other software.

    You can also choose delete all text in the file and save this empty file and set read-only to prevent it from reappearing.
