Whenever I start my computer, I get "Windows needs to be restarted to install updates". No matter how many times I reboot the computer, I always get this from the beginning. What can we do, or how to fix this?
I bought my computer about 4 months ago and my friend installed Windows 7 above. Not too long after that I started with this problem and have yet to get it fixed or figured out. I tried to reboot 15 - 20 times in a row to get the message go away, but it did not help. The answers out there for the reasoning behind this?

Step 2:
If you be able to start your computer in safe mode, I'd say make clean boot and check.
Place the computer in a clean boot state, then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Whenever I start my computer, I get the message: "this file doesn't have a program associated with to perform this action...". "for my external drives. I use these daily backup USB drives. It seems that the backup will run, if I acknowledge this message by clicking OK. If this is not the case - it won't. Why is that happening and how can I solve this problem?
You can repair the associations used to readers. One of my fellow MVPS, Shawn (no relationship lol) has default binding settings in his site here:
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html
Just scroll down to find the link of 'reader', click it, and launches the link. You can do the same thing with "folder" and "directory" to be thorough.

Try a clean boot of your PC and see if the error persists. Exactly how is determined by your version of WIndows and so far you have not updated this thread to let know us what version of Windows you are using. Do now. Click on modify under your original message and change the drop-down windows to indicate your version of Windows.

I need to activate my windows 7 Home premium and when I look at the bottom of my computer product key essentially disappeared... What can I do to get my product key?
Option 1: You will need to invest in a new license.
Option 2: If your computer comes with a recovery partition, use to reinstall Windows 7, it will exempt the need to have a product key.
Option 3. Ask a recovery disk set from the manufacturer of your computer and use it to reinstall Windows 7, it will be exempt from the need to have a product key too.
New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.
If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.
------------------------------------
This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands
For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device
For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device
For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward
For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo
For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.
Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"
