Where is Windows Explorer?

Where is Windows Explorer? I can 't find anything I need on Windows 8. If I could return my new PC and get one without Windows 8 I would in a heartbeat. I HATE THIS PROGRAM! He tries to anticipate what I want and it just impossible. I need to do things MYSELF. Since the mid-2012 November I had to refresh Windows twice and rest once. Now I think I have to go immediately to the factory reset... all this because I can't FIND what I'm looking for and making stupid mistakes on the way. Stop hiding something from me. My 1995 and Windows XP (a slow program unstable at best) is far superior to this OS because at least I can find things so I can solve the problems or at least to improve performance. How to access my program properties without installing them through Windows 8? How to expand on the program, if there is more than one part of it (Corel for example has several pieces in the program)?

In Windows 8, the equivalent of Windows Explorer is called File Explorer.

If you can't find it, try using the search:

1 display the charms bar.

2 select Search.

3. tap File Explorer until you see on the left.

4. right-click on it to PIN to the taskbar or Start.

I do not understand your question about Corel. Please develop or ask directly to Corel.

    Hello geehosafat,

Thank you for your response. The relay please if you are able to open Windows Media Player by clicking Start, and then by typing in the search box to start Windows Media Player. Then click on Windows Media Player based on the results of the search.

In addition, when burning files to disc, if the disk has been formatted using the Format mastered, the option to close a session will not appear as disks formatted with the mastered Format do not need to be closed and automatically compatible with other computers. If the disk has been formatted with the live file system, you can close a session to be able to use the disc in another computer or player. By default, Windows does automatically when you eject the disc.

In windows 8, it is called "File Explorer".  You can access file Explorer by searching from the metro screen (and then PIN to the start page) or from the desktop right click on the lower left corner.

  • Where is Windows Explorer in Windows 7?

In older versions of windows, it was easy to move files or folders around by clicking on "Windows Explorer" that could fill a tree of hierarchical structure of files, allowing you to move your folder or file in another folder. You could do this directly from any folder that you happened to be in the moment. Is there something similar in Windows 7? Or what do I have to open a second file and then find the folder I want to move to, then return to the first folder and drag-and - drop? If the latter, it looks like a quality system that is less than what was under XP.

  • Windows Explorer button disappeared?

I'm sure I've made some changes and now my Windows Explorer button is gone. I did reappear by going to all programs-accessories and right click Windows Explorer and chose "Pin to start menu. But is it the only way that it is displayed in the Start Menu? Is there somewhere else it displays down by & assistance, search, and run?

It seems normal. The only place in the start menu where the "Windows Explorer" shortcut is displayed by default is under [Start - Programs - Accessories]

And no, he does not appear in the menu on the right as you describe.

  • Media players and windows Explorer crash

    Hello

Recently I got this problem where my windows Explorer crashed whenever I opened Control Panel, specifically, whenever I tried to view the system information. I tried a few "solutions" that I saw on the internet nothing has worked so far - this all started about 2 months ago, when I tried to update my graphic drivers.

Then a few days ago I was watching movies with my laptop and I fell asleep while the film was presented, my laptop is not plugged the battery flat overnight. When I woke up and return the laptop computer he would play no matter what video file with any of my media players (Windows Media Player, GOM or VLC) - when I try to open the video file, it simply says that GOM/VLC/WM has stopped working, then closes.

    Important notes:

-I am able to watch movies if I boot in safe mode (there is simply no sound.)

-I can also go in control panel - system of information if I boot in safe mode.

-I am running windows 7 (with the latest updates)

    -J' use a pavilion dv6.

-All music files open with media players, the problem is just video files.

I suspect it's a graphics related question, but I'm not sure. It works as it should when it is in safe mode, but I don't know how to say what is causing the problem.

Many thanks for any help :)

    Hi Mithrandir,

    I found the problem!

I updated the graphics driver and that seemed to do the trick - the players videos play in all media and is not any control panel crash or media players.

The only problem I have now is that after the backlight driver update does not work (although it is a driver issue it seems that many people have had) - I was wondering if you know if it is possible to reinstall the previous driver (not just go back to it, but have in fact all this re installed because I think there's maybe a corrupt file or something like that which was causing the) problem)

So, as I thought it was the graphics driver that caused the outcome...

Here is how to adjust Vista fonts (it apply only to files from Windows Explorer, but for the office and other areas and programs as well):http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-change-font-size. I don't know how to change only the fonts for the files and folders in Windows Explorer.  See if this is the case or if it is not what you had in mind and to explain how what happened was different and if it actually solves the same problem if it caused other problems at the same time.

    I hope this helps.

  • Why don't the addition of metadata to be added manually in the iTunes library song change metadata in Windows Explorer and anywhere else?

Adding metadata to a song in the iTunes library has no effect anywhere else (as in Windows Explorer or the Groove music).

I would like to know if I have disabled this in error or if it is not guaranteed to all visitors.

Where it is not provided to customers, I would like to know how iTunes stores this metadata and whether it can be automatically sent to the library of Windows.

    Thank you.

A reason of changes committed to iTunes cannot be is covered in the tip of the user, fix the iTunes for Windows security permissions but iTunes usually returns to the original data if you probably don't see this particular problem. The other possibility is of several tags.

    Several tags (Mp3 files only)

The ID3 specification allows files to have several tags in different versions and languages, but iTunes does not work properly with simple tags. When multiple tags are present it can sometimes do not apply updates to the tag that reads back (probably update one of the others in the file) and it is also possible that the iPod and iTunes may have different rules for the tag that they give priority to. This could lead to situations where everything is properly organized in iTunes, but then inexplicably collapses on an iPod, or tracks that display different information in Windows Explorer or another media player. There are tags 3rd party editors that allow to manipulate several tags, but I don't have a casual recommendation. A workaround in iTunes is to use the context menu convert the ID3 Tags... > None a few times to remove all the labels, then convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3 to build a cool tag with information still held in the iTunes database. I've read in the past that iTunes is not completely compatible with the specification v2.4, although this may be the case, support is more however for v2.3 is widespread, then I would say using v2.3 to v2.4. All embedded work will be deleted so it must be replaced if wanted. For Windows users running a script named CreateFolderArt before and after the cleaning process tag should handle this.

Note that some data, for example the sides and the counties of game, is only stored in the database internal iTunes and not surrounded by tags.

  • the videos do not work in Firefox, but work fine in windows Explorer. Why?

I tried to check my plugin and all are enabled. I found here where it was suggested to delete and reinstall Firefox, but that did not fix problem either. I tried to change the Viewer for video, but still no luck. Not sure why Quicktime does not work. Note that when browsing videos will not open, but everything else works fine. Videos work very well with windows explore, but not Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe or make changes.
  • Firefox (15) inserts a "Firefox HTML document" in the Windows Explorer file > new menu. It breaks my work bosses (Alt-FWF stops working). You will need to disable.

I often use the shortcut Alt-FWF to create new directories under Windows.

When 15 FF is set as default it modifies the file menu from Windows Explorer.

She inserts an element "Firefox HTML document".

This point seems to sabotage the above key combination. He intercepted the last f.

In addition, I object to the name that is simply not true, for me.

I deleted the registry key that inserts this thing. Unfortunately it appears again.

I want to stop this behavior.

How to kill it. (Other than by a different default browser.)

I see, you have created an order C:\windows\shellnew for .htm files.

Poking around for where the description could come... Have you tried to rename (by default) or FriendlyTypeName under:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML

to see if it works? And if so, how long it sticks?

  • HP20: Windows Explorer has stopped working, followed by windows explore restarts

Hello everyone, a few days my computer began to behave strangely. When you try to download some pictures using Chrome, windows Explorer has crashed, and a pop-up will appear showing the message: "Windows Explorer has stopped working". A few seconds after that, the entire desktop up-to-date and another window poped by displaying "Windows Explorer restarts... ».

The cycle of two windows appearing repeatedly. I restarted the computer as soon as it shows the office, the same thing happens again, to infinity.

I was able to restart the computer by using the security mode, it works just fine. I've disabled most of the software at startup, except 360 total security anti virus. It has not solved the problem.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you very much for any help!

    Matheus

Hi old_geekster, I tried what you said and it did not work. However, I then found the original source of microsoft where you got this info from, and they mention here on a corrupted video driver as a source as possible. That was the problem in my case: radeon tried to update earlier this week, but I was in a hurry and it did not properly. I tried again and it worked now!

Thnaks for your help, even if not exactly what I needed, it solved my problem!

  • Windows Explorer and other programs will not open / work

Can anyone help? In XP Home Edition, programs as internet explore/microsoft works work only sporadically, but often does not open and then I asks me to send an error report. When I try to stop, Windows Explorer will not work and asks me to send another report of error! ... Can not much experience with these things someone explain what I can do? (I ran a virus scan, and all seems ok)
    Thank you

    Hi Mike,.

According to my experience, this kind of behaviour is symptomatic of the corruption of data on the hard drive. However, since you say that these applications work sometimes I am inclined to suspect that your hard drive may be failing, possibly with errors in sector where those applications reside.

I suggest that you take a backup copy of the any of your own data files and then run a CHKDSK command on your hard drive to see what he finds (this can make a right click on the HARD drive in my computer icon, then select Properties, then the Tools tab.) Check disk utility is at the top).

If it detects too many bad sectors, and then looking to replace the hard drive and reinstalling your system.

    Kind regards
