Where should I go in Windows 7 to find all programs, files that I have on my machine?

I use to be able to find them on XP. Don't know where to go in Windows 7.

Usually, you can access your program via the Start Menu. When they are actually stored (i.e. the directory) will depend on the program and possibly where you want to install. If you have Windows 7 32 - Bit, you will find a good number of them in C:\Program Files\ . However, if you have Windows 7 64 bit, they can be in one of the two of these files C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x 86) \ where the old one is for 64-bit programs and the last is for 32 - Bit upper air.

Somewhere else, you will find programs is C:\Windows\System32\ (and C:\Windows\SysWoW64\ if you have Windows 7 64-Bit). Among loads of other things, you will find the executable files for things like Paint (MSPaint.exe) and the tool captures (SnippingTool.exe) here. They are very important files system so Don ' t mess here unless you know what you're doing.

The foregoing is not in the list.

With regard to the personal data files (documents, videos, photos, music, etc.), it should be kept in the libraries. Here's a simple way to keep these files organized and separated from the system and program files. For more information about libraries, see:

    Hello

You don't say how you have reinstalled or how or where or by which program or process, you saved your data...

A relocation normally will wipe away the old operating system and all data during the resettlement process.

You can try this free program to see if it can recover your data:

  • unsolicited to pop up "Windows cannot find ' C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search»»

Nearly a week there is a window began to appear during the first load of my computer. It's a black rectangular window marked taskeng.exe, but there is nothing in it. Almost immediately after that, a prompt appears that says "Windows cannot find ' C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions\Client.exe".» Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. ' It opens at the beginning, until I typed or even clicked on anything yet.  When I click 'OK', it closes and my computer works normally, a little more slowly than usual. It does not appear to be a problem, but I don't know there could still be something wrong that I can't see or know something about.

I watched taskeng.exe and I understand that it is a task manager, but that it could be related to malware or a virus when it ceases to appear. I did a full scan of the disk C with Malwarebytes and, thankfully, he said I have no malware to remove. I do not understand why he started coming. I did a system restore, but nothing has changed.

Can someone help me understand what it is and how to stop it without risk to occur?

    Thank you, Kateri

What has happened is that your software antivirus or antimalware software correctly identified as a spam and removed program client.exe.  In this case, however, there often remains of the malware left behind this attempt to leave the now-missing executable malware.

In your case, it seems that there is a scheduled task that tries to launch client.exe.

    • Click the start ORB, type the following command in the start search box and press enter
      Task Scheduler
    • When the Task Scheduler window opens, click on "Task Scheduler (local)" in the left pane
    • Use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down to "active tasks.
    • Use the inner scroll bar to scroll the active task list to find anyone trying to launch Client.exe.  Search for "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions in the"Location"field

    • When you have found the ticket with Extensions of research in the location field, double click it.
    • In the right pane ("shares") find "Delete" at the bottom of the list and click on it.
    • Close Task Scheduler and restart
    • You should not get the popup more

If this does not work, or if you do not find the right task to remove, download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx -->

    • Run Autoruns and once the analysis is complete, confirm that the "all" tab is selected (it will have to use it) then click file > find and search for client.exe
    • If a line with client.exe is found, make sure the 'Image path' set to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions and then clear the check box at the left end of the line
    • Press F3 to search for other instances of the client.exe (I don't expect there to be no)
    • Autoruns to close and restart
    • You should not get the popup more

If you've used autoruns, if you are convinced that the problem has been corrected and no problem has been introduced, you can run autoruns and this time 'remove' the line with client.exe inside.

I suggest also using Windows Explorer to go to C:\Program Files (x 86) and verification of the contents of the file Extensions of research.  If it is empty, delete the entire folder.  If the files remain, are also likely to remnants of malware, but I won't tell you to delete them without knowing what they are.  If there are exe files, use your favorite search engine for names of files of research (or post the list here).

  • Error message after you initialize computer error "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions\Client.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again.

After that I turned on my computer, I get this error message... "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions\Client.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."

It all started October 1, 2014, and I have no idea why.

I asked windows assistance online, and he said he had something to do with my registry.
But then there just stop communicating and did not tell me how to solve this problem.

Y at - it a registry repair tool?

Also it does not affect my computer that I can tell.

But I have a problem in which windows cannot detect.

In the printers and devices window, the icon of my computer has a triangle with an exclamation mark inside error.

Maybe someone out there not and I'd appreciate any help.

    Hey, mark

First have you properly uninstalled this program? He was executed at startup of Windows an incorrect uninstall may cause this error may still be registered in MSConfig to start automatically with the computer.

Did you go to the address specified in Program Files (86) \Search Extensions to see if the file is present or not?

With a mark of exclamtion in the middle of a yellow triangle indicates that drivers must be updated.

Right-click on the device with the triangle, select Properties, go to the Hardware tab, select the device with a triangle next to it, select Properties again and select Update driver.

This should solve the problem, if Windows Update can't find a driver for you, you can always go to the manufacturers website and download it there, however, if the Windows Update does not find it there ' has a chance to the manufacturers Web site may not it as well, in this case, you can open Device Manager right-click the missing material or using outdated drivers, select Properties, go to the Details tab and in the hardware id select menu drop-down property search with id, you receive information about the device and so download the drivers the most up-to-date and appropriate from other reliable sources.

  • where can I find all my photos that were stored on adobe photoshop 10?

where can I find all my photos that were stored on photoshop 10?

your photos have probably saved in photoshop but not in photoshop. Photoshop is the name of a program from adobe.  It stores any image files.

but the question is not where your images were saved from, but they were in this directory/file saved.

to find the directory/folder where you saved your image files, open PES 10, click on file and click on save as...

a panel of Tacker system opens and which will show you where your image files are saved.

Alternatively, you can search for your image files by using the search function of your operating system (windows in os win Explorer) and the mac os finder.

If your find this confusing info, ask someone as computer help you.  This is a pretty basic business that doesn't require significant computer skills.

    Hello

Did you use the McAfee removal tool when you uninstalled?

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/protect/wiki/MSE-protect_start/list-of-anti-malware-product-removal-tools/2bcb53f7-7ab4-4EF9-ab3a-6aebfa322f75

If not, run the removal tool, then try again activation of Windows Defender.

If it fails, run the following scans and try again to Windows Defender.

If it is still impossible to start Windows Defender, perform a PC Refresh.  You will not lose your files, but you will have to reinstall applications/programs that you have installed from a disc or on the internet.

Original title: update of Windows 8

All my files and pictures have been deleted and all my settings for my computer after the update of windows. I need some answers! Microsoft you need to find something to say to me. WTF! Your update has ruined my computer

    Shawn,

I think this isn't the Windows update that caused this problem. It could be something else the cause. Windows Update never removes any of your files and folders stored in the computer.

You can try a system restore to a previous point when the computer was working properly.

    see this link:
