• Satellite A300-1OM webcam failure

  A week ago the notebook above had a motherboard (fried component) failure while I was on Skype with my webcam in use. A technician managed to fix the motherboard and the laptop is now fully operational with the exception of my built-in webcam which are more detectable by the computer.

Since I'm capable of dismantling of the majority of my laptop, I want to check it myself to save time two round-trip to the store of the computer again. • Satellite A300-1OM - Media sharing with XBox 360

  I'll have some real problems share my media with my Xbox 360 using my home wireless network.

  I used to connect my 360 to the internet via internet sharing with my laptop connected via Ethernet. I now borrow a wireless adapter for the 360 that still lets connect me to the internet on the 360, but I can no longer access my portable music library or find a PC Windows Media Centre when searching for the network on my 360.

  My laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit. When I display 'network' appears from my own laptop, my second laptop computer connected to the network is also shown, and the 360 is also indicated in the devices section of media.   I have problems with continued use of the internet through my wireless home network, which seems to be an intermittent problem.

  I got my Satellite A300-1OM for a week now and I'm happy with it. I use it mainly for MS Office and internet. When it is idle, the time CPU (verified by hardware sensors app) vary from 38 to 45 degrees. However, after a few hours of nothing but MS Office and the net (or sometimes just the net), I noticed the hot feeling of laptop and the time went up to 70 degrees, even though the CPU usage is quite low. Should I worry about this? What causes the time to go to the top? The portable little died due to overheating and I hope it lasts a while.

  Hmmm... How to understand this? I don't know how you use your A300 Satellite, but I use my for the same purposes (office work) and the laptop runs for hours. It is placed on the desktop, the ventilation openings are free and portable can catch its breath.

  To be honest I have very good experience with installing Win7 on Satellite A300 and I can recommend you to install on this Satellite.

  If you visit the Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads you will see that your laptop model is supported Win7 and it shouldn't be problem to install all the necessary drivers and other stuff of Toshiba.
