Which hard drive Solid State for Satellite Pro L670?

I have a Satellite Pro L670, I need to configure for presentation and having to re - load operating system anyway.

Rather than write the existing drive too much, I thought that it would be best to get a second to adapt instead.
Replace the current (obsolete) rotation drive with a solid state, it seems to me the best way to go.
Has anyone equipped with a hard drive to a Satellite Pro?

For budget reasons, I plan to go for a capacity of 120 GB that will be enough.

However, I've yet to discover at Toshiba they could recommend. Anyone else gone this route?

Hello

Theoretically, any SATA SSD drive should be compatible because the laptop supports a SATA controller.
But in some cases, it might be possible that an SSD would not be treated properly. In such cases, SDD drive manufacturers provide different firmware updates

So before buying an SSD drive check the support pages of the manufacturers of SSDS for more details would perhaps have a firmware update

  • Need driver SATA XP for Satellite Pro L300

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro L300 Vista.
If I have problems of major incompatibility with Vista I can swap the readers so I want to set up a second hard drive running on XP Pro.

When I try to set up the XP he sees not the SATA hard drive. I know that it's because XP does not contain the SATA drivers. Couple of questions

    (1) I saw a comment that recommendsto change the BIOS for SATA setting to "Compatibility" and this should work. I tried this but did not find it worked - everyone find it works?

    (2) where can I find the XP SATA driver? I crossed the XP drivers for Satellite Pro L300 Toshiba's web site, but could not see any SATA driver.

    Thank you

    Hello

    As to the question;

    (1) some notebook models containing this function in the BIOS and some don t BIOS that SATA option. If the BIOS has this option, you should be able to put AHCI Compatible mode. Then a SATA driver won't be necessary but also your SATA function would be disabled and HARD drive might work more slowly. So I recommend to set to AHCI, and then reinstall the SATA driver.

    (2) the SATA driver is part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manger. You can include the SATA drivers using nLite software. The necessary files of the SATA driver can be downloaded from Intel here page:

  • Satellite Pro L100 - which hard drive is maximum for this model.

Dear users, I have a problem with choosing appropriate new HARD drive for this model. I have no idea of this title is to the maximum with what my BIOS will manage. This model, I bought on the year 2006.
I would be grateful for any help.

    Hello

AFAIK this Satellite Pro L100 has been equipped with a SATA HDD controller.
All hard drives 2.5 SATA should therefore be compatible controllers SATA HDD with no limitation.

Beginning taken IDE controllers support only 28-bit LBA and allows only to hard disks up to 128 GB.
Given that the ATA - 6 the 48-bit LBA is supported which allows the use of larger hard drives?

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of using iCloud drive (or other Cloud services) compared with iTunes game against external hard drive, Solid State etc. to store my songs iTunes, playlists, ratings etc?

First question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of using iCloud drive (or other Cloud services) compared with iTunes Match against Solid State external hard drive etc to store my songs iTunes, playlists, ratings etc?

Please let me know what are the alternatives for storage of my songs, playlists, song etc. other than iTunes game ratings ($ 24.99 / year)?  Is there a way to store all my songs with my song ratings, playlists, etc. with a CD song quality? Most of my (currently 130 GB) songs on my computer are CD quality that I prefer to keep as well as my notes of each song (i.e. 5 * vs. 4 * etc.), playlists, groups (music, classical, popular, country etc.).  What are the advantages and disadvantages to store my iTunes songs while CD quality with my personal notes, reading lists, groupings in the cloud?  ICloud of Apple Drive ($ 2.99 per month or $36 / year for 200 GB) would be the best way to automatically update and maintain my rankings iTunes personal including the future editions of the song etc or using Amazon, IBM, Microsoft etc cloud or an external hard drive SSD would work as well and maybe cheaper?  I currently have my iTunes on a PC of 2007 with vista (I use a 1 8T Western Digital external upward by car for my personal info all over HP, songs, photos etc. which is currently close to 170 GB) but also have an Apple i-phone 6 & I Air cushion.  Although I did not need to have all of my music with all their sides, etc. available on all of my devices at all times as iTunes game, I still would have easy access to information on both my PC and my iPhone or iPad?  Thank you.

    In my opinion?

I back up my data to an external drive for several reasons.  The first is my data - if I put on the cloud, someone else has control over it, they can see what I have and change the preferences to what they see of marketing.

Almost as important as that - if I had to rely on the cloud whenever I wanted to update my playlists on my phone, I need a better internet connection I have now (working at sea).  To get the best out of the cloud, you need a solid link to home, work or mobile.

As a spin-off - I hate the fact that Apple take away a feature in their software updates and then allow an app to be sold in their store to replace this feature - or worse still, some features that were available before the updates are now "cloud only."  And Yes - you have to pay for the cloud.  I like most of the people do not appreciate the 'accomplished fact. "

From the back of the external hard drive ASI downside, is that to be safe, you need to store outside in a separate computer place.  If keep you them together, if one is lost, probably, they are both.  That is to say for me a full backup before you travel, then a new upward as soon as I go home.  Downside is how much data may be lost between the two back ups if I needed to restore.  For me, its worth the risk.  If I was away and say had bought a ton of new music and couldn't go home anytime soon, I can always head to the store and buy a new external drive, they are massively expensive.  Even if my computer has to go for repair and my remote is to halfway around the world - I want to buy a new one.

Now, some will say that once you buy a new external, you spend more than you would on a cloud subscription.  It's true, but in the 6 years following the purchase of Mac that I've only had to buy a new external once - so with a little luck and planning - it works.

I left took well - I am not a subscriber of cloud, nor do I want to be.

  • Y at - it a maximum size of HARD drive internal to a Satellite Pro A120

Is there a maximum size of disk HARD internally for a Satellite Pro A120?
I tried a 320 HDD int Tosh and had problems with continuous boot.

I have the BIOS update (March 08)

    > Is there a maximum size of disk HARD internally for a Satellite Pro A120
    Yes, I think so.
The BIOS doesn't support all sizes of HARD drive!

In my opinion, teething problems are associated with the large size of HARD drive and advise to use a smaller HARD drive.

  • Driver XP SATA for Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9E

Hi all I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9E and I am trying to downgrade from Vista to XP. I have the sata AHCI controller mode, I looked for this drivers on the toshiba site and the site of intel, but none of these work when installing xp and pressing f6 when you use a usb floppy drive. Any ideas?

    Hello

If you have set the compatible SATA mode in the BIOS, then you n t need to install all the drivers SATA!
Compatibility mode allows you to run the HARD drive without SATA drivers.

But if you want to use the HDD in SATA mode, then you will set back to AHCI.
In this case the SATA drivers must be installed in order to use the HDD in SATA mode.

The laptop seems to be equipped with the AMD CPU and so you need a SATA chipset AMD driver. That are in the package of graphics (record SBDrv/SATA") driver

  • What HARD drive I use for Satellite L305D-s5868?

What is the form factor for a replacement disk?

Can a * SATA II drive * be used?

I agree with Akuma. You need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The SATA controller is compatible downwards, which means you can use a HARD SATA II in SATA drive I have controller.

  • Firebird 802 - upgrade hard drives - Solid State / hybrid anyone?

I'm upgrading hard drives on my Firebird 802 (the part the WEAKEST of my Firebird and the SMALLEST score on Windows Index). I replaced the drive secondary with a Seagate 500 GB SATA drive at 7200 RPM (ST950042 4AS) and REALLY improved performance (I have my file on the secondary drive).

It's now time to upgrade the MAIN disk. I'm looking at a "Hybrid" car A Seagate ST95005620AS Momentus XT 500 GB Solid State Hybrid Drive - 500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA 3 Gb/s.

Has anyone tried upgrading the main drive of a hybrid? For a solid Sate drive?

    Thank you

    Enzo

Well WELL, @ 10:39 PM PST after FOUR and a HALF and TWO attempts of the hybrid drive WORKS as my main drive on my Firebird 802!

Using the data transfer software CMS Bounceback ($14.99 per download) the program was missing several files that were essential for the computer to boot. Once I checked the transfer journal and moved the files myself IT BOOTS!

THUS, in a few weeks, I'll post the kind of increases in speed that I experience. First comment, my drives are running @ 98 degrees F. It's HOT, so I'll have to come back a fan for the hard disk enclosure, in fact, you can put at the front of the box and jump through this background grid. Going to put in place tomorrow. Now I'm BEAT!

Thus, it CAN BE DONE on your Firebird! Solution, HERE!

    Thank you!

Can anyone recommend a Solid State Hard Drive?

    Thank you

I went to Samsung SSD.  I installed one in my HP-135qe 810.  Here's an 840-250 GB EVO:

  • Replace hard drive Solid State drive

I plan to replace the hard drive in my 2011 17 "MacPro with a SSD drive. My Mac has only 2.0 GHZ, however, and I wonder if she will be able to feed the SSD efficiently or if it is still relevant to all. Thanks in advance.

Your MBP should be able to handle the SSD without any problem.

My suggestion is as a first step in the process of exchange of your disk for SSD should make a clone of your HARD drive bootable. You can use SuperDuper or CCC for the clone.

After getting the done clone, be sure to test to see if she is able to start your MBP.

  • What them to limit the size of the HARD drive on a laptop Satellite Pro 6100?

I recently tried to install a 160 GB drive and had all sorts of questions.
    Thank you
    [email protected]

Is 160 GB not a bit too much? Please note that this laptop is about 5 years old and new laptops are usually supplied with 120 or 160 GB hard drives.

According to the specification of this laptop model comes with 60 GB max, but I guess it should be possible to use 80 or maybe 100 GB. I don't know it for sure because there is no precise information on this subject.

Use the advanced search option and try to search for similar topics. Maybe you will be lucky and find some useful information.

  • Hard drive not detected on Satellite Pro 4270

I took out the 2 "5 HDD of my SP4270 to transfer data to my PC via an EIDE 5 3" 5-2"adapter, HD has been detected by the bios of my PC and the transfer was successful.
Then I reinserted the Bay 2 "5 for laptop from my hard drive, but I get the message"Insert system disk in drive.".
I checked the boot priority in the setup and it shows a HDD-> CD-> sequence FDD.
In the DISKS to bios section, I see HDD = IDE (1F0H/IRQ14) primary.

I extracted and reinsert the disc again, hard, but without result.
    What could be the problem?

    Hello

It is not easy to say what is happening here. Please when you pull it out HARD drive remove the connection of the power supply and the battery first.

Check all the pins on the HARD drive. I hope they are all okay.
Try to enter the HARD disk using the disk boot or applications in MS-DOS mode. If there is no success there is a hardware problem.

  • What hard drives are supported for Satellite 5100-201

    Hello!

My drive is making some strange noises, might he have one foot in the grave...
Have the latest bios 1.9. and the original at 30 GB disk.
Have a Hitachi 40 GB I tried with, but the laptop did not.
So I would like to know what drives and formats supported for this model.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Very strange did you use a compatible 40 GB HDD?
To my knowledge, the laptop must be able to recognize the 40 GB HARD drive.
As far as I know the 30 GB HARD drive that was installed is a Toshiba MK3017GAP and the computer supports a HDD of 20, 30, 40 or 60 GB.

I think that these disc HARD must be compatible:
Toshiba HDD2171B 40 GB HARD drive
HITACHI G8BC00009110 40 GB HARD DRIVE
    Toshiba HDD2183B 60GB

PS: The strange noise from the HARD drive could be the beginning of the end
So make a backup of the data.
