White and black slider in graduated filter.  In addition, no dehaze.

I just purchased Lightroom 6.  I noticed on tutorial videos there now access to whites and black in the graduated filter.  The sliders are not present in mine.  I just bought the latest version.  What Miss me?  I checked the updates.

The features you mentioned have been added after that LR 6.0 is out while they are only a part of the LR CC 2015 subscription.

What's new in the LR series-number-license series would be part of LR 7 if there is a LR 7.

I know that I can see what works best for an image, etc.. Ask yourself what is the recommended procedure.

I could write reams about it. Have already done.

I will however keep this short (for me) and let someone else take a better stab.

It is wrong to think of controls PV2012 as being something like those of other publishers.

The bottom line: give the picture adaptations she needs, whatever you start with.

So perhaps a better question is: How do we know what adjustments needs a photo in PV2012?

(I warned people against trying to arrive at a single procedure that will work for all photos)

    That's all for now.

    OK, maybe a quicky:

No matter what start you with, try to keep clear 0 or negative, shadows 0 or positive and shadows value exactly equal to the value of highlights. Once you have the photo in the ballpark in this way, no matter how you juggled exhibition & white..., then and only then, consider asymmetric values of lights and shadows.

WARNING: this "formula" works on 90% of the photos, not 100 percent. Or it could be 0% (or 100%) depending on what you're shooting...

    Okay, I can't resist:

Most of the pictures can be edited in this way:

    * Most critical exposure setting

    * Use - highlights for container of the upper extremity

    * Use + shadows to normalize the lower end

    * The difference in taste.

    * - black & + white to make full use of the available tonal range.

But at the other extreme, there are these:

    * Exhibition but still critical,

    * puts in light and shadows of the sliders do not hit the sweet spots: leave at zero.

    * Use - white & + blacks for recovery & fill, respectively.

    * You may very well push contrast, although it is an image too contrasted initially. Or not...

And then there's a whole series of photos which sit somewhere between the two...

Confusing? Yes. PV2012 is great, but delicate and requires a completely different way of thinking and a flexible 'procedure'...

Note: Highlights slider going positive, and cursor shadows going negative also, independently of the highlights slider for a reason. But their use in this way should be reserved for unusual cases of raw or refine already cooked jpegs, or you really know what you are doing and why you...

One last point is critical: exhibition in PV2012 sets mainly mid-level tones, that is why it is the most critical: highlights, contrast, shadows, all hinges on a suitable exposure setting.

Black & White adjustment are probably the biggest keys for optimal fit in PV2012, but they are more difficult to nail down, because their adaptation depends strongly on the photo, but maybe a golden rule to be broken:

    * - black & white if possible, for punchy complete histogram photos +...

    * + Black & - White tones tend to gang to the extreme endpoints of the gases, such as highlights & shadows adjustment do not understand... (or you prefer the softer look that can come, or else...).

WARNING: This is a personal thing, and probably different people different things that work best for them...

PS - Don't forget the curve of tone & inhabitants after basic setting (can be done over too, but it is not recommended until you have acquired sufficient experience).

    Rob

  • Thunderbird 38 does not work properly: constant 'white and black '.

After the 38.1.0 update version I have recurring problems with "whites and blacks". When I write a new email to suddenly white or black, I am looking for emails, the email list going in white or black (back after a certain time, or not), sometimes I can't even pass my coursor anywhere on the emails because only then go in part, Yes, white or black. I have already disabled add-ons/plugins, it did not help. is it repairable? If this isn't the case, someone could walk me through the steps to return to the old version 31.7.0 (it was almost fine, with more bearable bugs). My laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad W520.

First, make sure that your graphics driver is up to date.
Confirm the driver is up to date.

Re; I have already disabled add-ons/plugins, it did not help.
I presume you mean you restarted Thunderbird using safe.
Help > restart with disabled addons.
If it did not offer any changes then disable the exceleration material.
Confirm Thunderbird safe mode not offered no change.

Tools > Options > advanced > general tab
    or
Menu icon > Options > Options > advanced > general tab
Uncheck the "use hardware acceleration when available.
    Click OK

    Restart thunderbird.
    retest for whites and blacks.
Confirm if this solves the problem.

Please report on the results of each test.

  • White and black clipping

Please can someone tell me what number would mean that I have at least a pure black pixel and at least a pure white pixel...? I realized that 0.01% does not work... But 1 give the impression that it is left on top... I want to go until I get to cutting, but no more. What number would provide it?

    image.jpg

If they are RAW files, then it is better to set black and white points in ACR.  If you Shift open the RAW file converted to open as a smart object, these settings are non-destructive and can be changed.

Black and white point setting by the numbers in Photoshop is risky, because none of the two images are the same.  You can block the noisy shadows, or ignore the specular and set the white point on a more significant part of the image.  So if you really want to settle these points within Photoshop, a better approach might be to use a levels adjustment layer and hold the key of the Alp (Opt) while dragging the black and white sliders.  This puts the image threshold mode, so you can see exactly which parts of the image are clipped, and channels, or combination of channels are to be cut.

But using the ACR is a no-brainer.  You have the number of complete image bits to play with to start.

  • Graduated filter - outside of the lines...

When I apply a filter graduated in the middle of the picture - for example, I want to clear up the middle part of a landscape of exposure setting. I apply the filter and adjust exposure, but adaptation applies since the middle of the filter to the top of the picture: it is not limited at the top and bottom of the graduated filter.  It's in Lightroom 2015.6 version and this behavior I don't remember doing so earlier. I tried to 'reset' varios presets to see if I'd put something inadvertently, but nothing has changed that.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The gradient filter has no options to do what you want (like Photoshop), but there are other suggestions.

He was always so to my knowledge.

    1. the brush setting (grand and feathers) as mentioned by BKKDon above.

Note: If you click on the brush once, move the slider, hold the [SHIFT] key, click the brush a second time - you will get a straight brush of the beginning of locations at the ends.

    2. the Radial filter can be extended beyond the borders of the image and appropriately adjusted with sliders and the feather.

    3. did you know that the gradient filter tool can act as a 'Global' adjustment to the entire image and repeatedly!

Just start the Gradient outside the image and drag it far more away from the image.

  • Satellite L500 - flicker and black screen turns green

Toshiba Satellite L500-screen color problem; White and black green turn turn pink. When the laptop is turned on after a while, the screen back to normal, but just for a second. Then he turns his back to the Green and Pink for black and white color again. The display also flashes.

    Anyone, please help me.

    Hello

Theoretically the two parties may be affected: Notebok display or graphic card itself.

Way simpler to check that connects to an external monitor. If the external monitor is ok, the graphics card is affected. Otherwise, the screen of the laptop must be exchanged.

Is your laptop still under warranty?

  • HP Officejet 6500 a Plus. How to get a fax received to print in black and white and not the other way around

I'm using an iMac with OS X 10.6.8.  A fax sent to me is loaded into a folder open on my desktop.  The fax image is white on black al, though the original was black on white paper.  It prints white on black background.  How to reverse the image to black on white?

Ok. Well I don't believe that you are able to reverse the colors directly on the printer. Once the image has been saved using this color format, you will need to reverse the image on the computer first, then the corrected file printer.

You can invert the colors using the preview. Once you open the image in preview if you select "Tools" then "Color Adjust". Here you will be presented with slidered for black and white levels. To "reverse" all colors, you need to do is the slider level black all the way to the right, then drag the white slider completely to the left.

Let me know if it works for you!

    Hello

I had the same problem a few months ago, and the reason was an S-video cable defective. As far as I know it was a very good cable too and I went to the store of the computer purchased a high-quality S-video cable. It was a little more expensive, but it works perfectly!
    Check it!

In addition, you should check the output signal from the S-video port and the input on your TV mode. If you use NTSC, you have to set this mode, otherwise use the PAL mode.

  • Difference between the scale of gray and black and white adjustment

    Hello

I just want to know the difference between black and white and grey adjustment of scale when printing text only, and which uses less ink. Thank you

    Hi jexee55,

I see that you would like to know the difference between grey and printing b & w.
I'll be happy to help you.

Basically, it prints in shades of gray.

    Save on ink also.

You can change the setting in the print in grayscale driver.

You would go into the Printers folder.
Right-click on the printer, on the left, click printer properties.
    Click the paper/quality tab.
Click on the button to advance down.
Select the characteristics of the printer and enable or disable this gray scale.

If you want to print a black and white document using black ink only, do one of the following according to
your operating system. Depending on which printer you have.
On Windows: Open the printer software, click on set preferences. On the paper/quality tab, click
Advanced. Select black ink only in printing in grayscale in the drop-down list under printer
    Features.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a great day.
