White screen on a Satellite 3000 214

My wife has dusted off the keyboard while the machine was running and now the screen is blank!

I tried Fn + F5, but no use. It could be that she unwittingly supported on Fn F1 and set up a password (to random key strokes while dusting). I have never used this feature before - just discover it in the manual.

Anyone know how to unlock, or other ideas, please?

Thank you very much!

Peter

What do you mean that your screen is empty? You mean that even if you turn off the computer and turn on again, the blank screen persist?

Please tell me more...

I tried to clean the keyboard disassemble all the keys to it and clean the grates, without success.

Can someone tell me where I can get a suitable keyboard: i in Germany.
It must be an original Toshiba keyboard or is it possible from another manufacturer?
How can I remove the keyboard of the laptop? What I have to open the case, or is it possible to get it out with a screwdriver or something?

    Thx for any suspicion!

    Hello

You must use the original Toshiba keyboard that is cared for and compatible with this laptop.
All parts and devices, you can buy the Toshiba authorized partner in your country. The database complete with ASP in the world, you can find on the page of European support of Toshiba.

Usually, if you want to remove the keyboard to remove first the thin cover above the keyboard.
There are two screws holding the keyboard. After the withdrawal of these two screws, you will be able to set the keyboard.
But be careful; the keyboard is connected with the flat cable to the motherboard.

  • Satellite 3000-214 driver needed

    Hi all

I'm looking for drivers for my * S3000 *. It is a German model of 2001 GR.
The Toshiba driver support isn't the Sattelite S-supported model.
Where can I find them. Unfortunately I can not find my driver CD more. But I need the drivers after
my new installation of Win XP.

    Thank you

    Hello

It is very interesting theory that you wrote in your post but I must disappoint you.
    You are completely wrong!

As a first step, you do not have any laptop's model. Simply satellite * 3000-214 *.
And secondly This oldie is also supported, but if you have old laptop model, in that it makes sense that it may be entered in the ARCHIVES.

Then, visit support page Toshiba new http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and by-products type choose ARCHIVE. So search satellite 30xx and you will find.

  • Satellite 3000-214: after CPU upgrade no screen and no HARD disk activity

    Hey all,.
    I have a 3000-214 Satellite that comes originally with a PIII-M 933 Mhz. (SL5CG)
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl5cg.jpg

I ordered on eBay a second hand replacement (1133 Mhz) CPU SL5CK. (same number of pins, the same processor family: RH80530)
When I go in, the laptop starts, but there is nothing on the screen and no HARD disk activity.

So I asked the seller if he had tested the CPU, it sent, he said no and sent me 2 CPUs of replacement, another SL5CG and a SL64Z (which does not appear on the Intel site for some strange reason, but which is of the same characteristics as the SL5CG..)
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl5ck.jpg
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl64z.jpg

The two processors give the same result with nothing on the screen and no activity of the HARD drive either.
I checked my BIOS, it is the latest version: 2.30.
Some laptops in the series 3000 Satellite (e.g. 3000-601), are delivered with a 1133 Mhz CPU (SL5CK) and also share the same bios exactly like my 3000-214. (upgrades to the bios on Toshiba website for my 214 & 601 are the same exact links and MD5 are equal). Also the 3000-601 & 3000-214 share the same chipset: Intel 830MP.
But for some reason, it does not.

    EC which could I missed?

It is always possible that all 3 processors that I was sent by the seller are dead, but it would be strange at this point, I think.
So my question is, anyone have any idea what I might try to work or have experience with the upgrade a Satellite 3000 CPU?

My warranty is looooong Sub anyway, so if a Toshiba employee could check in the basis of how fast max CPU can be used on the Sat 3000-214, I would be very grateful.

Thanks a bunch for any info.
    Kind regards

    Hello

I studied a bit in the web and it seems that the Satellite 3000 has been bundled with Intel Mobile PIII 800, 850, 900, 1000 MhZ CPU

I think that this will not work because of the speed of the CPU.
In addition, I found this Toshiba document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ5300W5000XR01.htm

It is said that it is not possible to replace the processor in a laptop Tosh because processors are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP tape carrier package.

  • White screen on my Satellite A300

    Hi all

My laptop Satellite A300 has suddenly stopped with a white screen, but I did not understand everything that I have done is force shutdown and restart again.

It is not easy to say what was wrong there.
You can now use your laptop without problem or this problem occurs again and again?

  • White screen on my Satellite M34-S456

-Do not know how - I managed to reload Windows XP Professional on my Satellite M34 S456.
I got a white screen with a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen for days.
Try of BIOS (via F12 F2 &) & kept getting the white screen).

Now that is reloaded. How can I know what is the problem?
And how can I prevent or fix?

For example, if it is a problen w / my HARD drive (I'll buy a new HARD drive) vs my CD/DVD, etc...

    Any suggestions?
I have a feeling that the problem is not resolved, & as soon as I stop I get the blank screen again.
FYI-I think that put the HARD drive in the freezer for the night may have been key to get there surgery - seriously.

    > - Don't know how - I managed to reload Windows XP Professional on my Satellite M34 S456.
    > I got a white screen with a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen for days.

This symptom of the computer appears generally if the master boot record (MBR) on the hard drive is bad or damaged.
It may happen due to the mechanical stress of HARD drive.

I had the same problem several months ago and solved using the command: fixmbr or fixboot

  • White screen powering a Satellite 1130

I bought a second hand by Satellite 1130 laptop not too long ago and it worked fine for awhile but then it died on me... When I turn on the laptop the power light on the front comes on but nothing else. Laptop computer knows that it is on, as the DVD drive scans for a disc and the cooling fan starts but nothing else happens. The screen remains blank and I can't do anything with it. While he worked, I noticed when it has been turned on the the hard drive led on the front of the laptop used to Flash several times then it loads the operating system. THIS DOES NOT EVEN LIGHT MORE. This made me think it may be the hard drive that was dead, but told me that if that were the case, the laptop screen would have at least a cursor in the upper left corner of the screen and one would expect it a command to the user.
    ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRIECIATED...

You re right. It doesn't seem to be a malfunction of the HARD drive.
If the HARD disk is damaged, you will see a splash screen Toshiba or with a few s information on memory, CPU, etc, then he should try to boot from the HARD drive.
In your case I think there could be a malfunction of the motherboard.

  • White screen after the Satellite Pro P200 display driver update

I installed the latest display driver ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 (8.432, on the site of Toshiba through Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. Reboot, everything seems good as much as the screen "Please wait...". "Windows Vista professional, but instead of showing the page of connection I get an empty screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as usual). All I can do at this point is to be able to, and I'm running out of ideas on how to move forward.

    Things I've tried:
    # start in safe mode, the video resolution or last known good configuration, result the same screen empty.
    # connect to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) is not possible because the system has not yet loaded the network drivers.
    # I can't go back to a restore point because Vista can't find (I did a manual after you install updates windows over a couple of days).
I can run a system command line options of recovery and prefer to use it to disable the driver + if + I knew how before the use of the more radical options.

A search on the web (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous versions of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at to give a solution which does not exist for me.

I agree with Hairyfool, you who should solve problems using an external display. If no image appears, then something with the material might be.

Please give some information about your situation...

    See you soon

  • Satellite 3000-214: motherboard / pilot

My card mother S3000-214 (PIII 933) failed. I replaced it with an S3000 -? PIII 900. I ran to the S3000-214 toshiba recovery disks (the only ones I have). To start windows, I now get an error message "Stop 0000007 b. The microsoft site indicates a driver problem - probably the hard drive. Anyone know where I can get records of recovery for the S3000 PIII 900 Board or drivers for it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Emma.

    Hello

First of all, the Toshiba recovery image has been designed and tested for each series laptop and you can use this image of recovery only on this unit.
If you have changed the motherboard the derivers preinstalled on the restore CD will not work because it was not designed and tested for you new motherboard.

Well, usually you can order the CD from recovery with the Toshiba service partner. But I guess you can order only the restore cd that came with your laptop.

I recommend you to install the Windows from the original CD of Microsoft operating system and the download page of all necessary drivers will be end on the Toshiba driver
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Please note: you must install the Toshiba stuff in the right order.

My computer starts normally when I turn it on but the screen is black. I have re - start several times to have the screen on.

    What's wrong?

    WIndows 7 64 bit

Right on this virtual path is not easy to say what the problem is here.
Since when did you notice this?

When you say that the screen is black it means that the screen is black but the background light work or the screen is totally black as when laptop is turned OFF?

  • White screen and beeps when turn on Satellite 3000 X 11

Can anyone help? A couple of times in recent weeks my Satellite 3000 X 11 itself has turned off. However, it then displays a white screen when I turn it on and 3 beeps followed by 3 beeps of x x. The power led & battery lights on and the hard drive flashes once - fan does not work - it happened to someone else? Or can someone suggust cause and remedy? Thank you
    Tim

    HI Edward,.

Beep codes are indications that the unit doesn't have his POST processing. The exact cause can only be diagnosed by a qualified Toshiba service agent.

In regards to your hard drive, will find it this located below your optical drive that must be removed first. Remove the screw (F5) the appliance and slide the optical drive before that. You will then be able to access the hard disk.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite 3000 - X 11: four beeps on startup, white screen

    Hi people,
    A friend gave me a laptop to try and fix. It's a Toshiba Satellite 3000 - X 11.
Sometimes, it works very well. Starts as usual.
Sometimes, quite randomly, it will not start. In this case nothing will come on the screen at startup. The fan will kick in. The screen is black and there are four beeps. About 1 per second. It is then. On, but half-dead. You can hear no time to other fan.
I read the posts on the net who suggest that this is a hardware failure any. I want to know is if there is an easy way to know what hardware has failed. Almost all of the messages I read talked about three beeps. That's four.

Does no diff if I run it from ca or the battery.

I don't know what actually started working again.

I suspect (just a hint) that it tends to stop working after it has been moved (picked up and moved to another office etc.).

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Also, is there a Toshiba diagnostic tool I can download and run that will test the machine on?

    Thank you

    Jonathan

    Hey Buddy,

If the machine is behaving really as you described then the machine has a serious malfunction. I had the same machine, a few years ago
    the same problem.
So I brought my machine to a service partner and they exchanged a few "PCB´s" as they said.
These PCB´s are, for example, the motherboard or graphics card.

If the machine you have is under warranty, you won´t have chances yourself due to defective components.

I don't know what the problem is here, but you can try to Win8 will stop completely and check the repair options. Try again with the system restore and roll back the OS a few days back. Maybe this will help.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

Satellite A85-s107 white screen at startup by using the power of the battery

When I boot A85-s107 in battery power, it is get booted up in the background, but my screen is empty.
After that if I connect it to AC power and switch deactivation/activation of the laptop power button, the screen comes back to life.

There is no problem when I start upward when it is connected to an electrical outlet.
Battery is fully charged and computer will work off the battery voltage if I remove AC after boootup

    Any suggestions?

    PS:

also note that when I remove AC and then reconnect I start the computer on two occasions that it does not start the 1st time?

Don t need to recharge the battery if the AC adapter is plugged ;)
Try the tips posted by Alex otherwise it of a hardware problem, in my view, there seems to be something wrong with the motherboard...
In this case, only the replacement could help and it could be a costly affair
