White screen powering a Satellite 1130

I bought a second hand by Satellite 1130 laptop not too long ago and it worked fine for awhile but then it died on me... When I turn on the laptop the power light on the front comes on but nothing else. Laptop computer knows that it is on, as the DVD drive scans for a disc and the cooling fan starts but nothing else happens. The screen remains blank and I can't do anything with it. While he worked, I noticed when it has been turned on the the hard drive led on the front of the laptop used to Flash several times then it loads the operating system. THIS DOES NOT EVEN LIGHT MORE. This made me think it may be the hard drive that was dead, but told me that if that were the case, the laptop screen would have at least a cursor in the upper left corner of the screen and one would expect it a command to the user.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRIECIATED...

You re right. It doesn't seem to be a malfunction of the HARD drive.
If the HARD disk is damaged, you will see a splash screen Toshiba or with a few s information on memory, CPU, etc, then he should try to boot from the HARD drive.
In your case I think there could be a malfunction of the motherboard.

-Do not know how - I managed to reload Windows XP Professional on my Satellite M34 S456.
I got a white screen with a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen for days.
Try of BIOS (via F12 F2 &) & kept getting the white screen).

This symptom of the computer appears generally if the master boot record (MBR) on the hard drive is bad or damaged.
It may happen due to the mechanical stress of HARD drive.

I had the same problem several months ago and solved using the command: fixmbr or fixboot

  • White screen after the Satellite Pro P200 display driver update

I installed the latest display driver ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 (8.432, on the site of Toshiba through Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. Reboot, everything seems good as much as the screen "Please wait...". "Windows Vista professional, but instead of showing the page of connection I get an empty screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as usual). All I can do at this point is to be able to, and I'm running out of ideas on how to move forward.

    Things I've tried:
    # start in safe mode, the video resolution or last known good configuration, result the same screen empty.
    # connect to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) is not possible because the system has not yet loaded the network drivers.
    # I can't go back to a restore point because Vista can't find (I did a manual after you install updates windows over a couple of days).
I can run a system command line options of recovery and prefer to use it to disable the driver + if + I knew how before the use of the more radical options.

A search on the web (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous versions of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at to give a solution which does not exist for me.

I agree with Hairyfool, you who should solve problems using an external display. If no image appears, then something with the material might be.

Please give some information about your situation...

    See you soon

  • White screen on a Satellite 3000 214

My wife has dusted off the keyboard while the machine was running and now the screen is blank!

I tried Fn + F5, but no use. It could be that she unwittingly supported on Fn F1 and set up a password (to random key strokes while dusting). I have never used this feature before - just discover it in the manual.

Anyone know how to unlock, or other ideas, please?

    Thank you very much!

    Peter

What do you mean that your screen is empty? You mean that even if you turn off the computer and turn on again, the blank screen persist?

    Please tell me more...

  • White screen starts with Satellite P series

    Hello

My computer starts normally when I turn it on but the screen is black. I have re - start several times to have the screen on.

    What's wrong?

    WIndows 7 64 bit

Right on this virtual path is not easy to say what the problem is here.
Since when did you notice this?

Have you installed any updates or anything that may be responsible for this?
When you say that the screen is black it means that the screen is black but the background light work or the screen is totally black as when laptop is turned OFF?

  • Satellite A60 - white screen Freeze on Boot up

    Hello

My laptop Satellite A60-106 has developed a problem starting up upward. It just hangs on a white to the startup screen until I see all the graphics. It seems that it can access the CD/DVD drive, but any attempt to start with a recovery disk fails in the same white screen and it freezes. I tried the advice from manufacturers that power with the F12 key and another suggestion on the
CD hold down the C key while powering brings the same result.

Nothing other than the white screen. I tried F8 to see if I can get into safe mode but it will not exceed the original deaf of readers and then silence. I can't imagine a way to get it to allow me to pass. I'm sure you can however? I'd be happy to format and reload but if I can't access the drive so how can I do this?

I wanted to increase the RAM, but all the suggestions in the book of the hand do not relate to the layout of my laptop. The small Access window on the bottom of the laptop will not provide sufficient access to the RAM? Poking around the RAM could have induced this white screen lock?

    Thank you
    Charlie

    Hello, Charlie

To be honest you have serious problem and I really don't believe that you can solve alone. It is not easy to say with certainty why white screen occurs at startup to the top. In my opinion there are several reasons responsible for this.
    -Display (electronic LCD screen, cable)
-as far as I know white screen occurs if FL dimmer makes background light but there is no signal display can be defects on the motherboard and there is no video signal

The best thing you can do is to contact the authorized service provider. They check your laptop. They have special tools and there is no problem to know why this happen.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

  • C50D-a satellite won't boot cursor static white screen

Hi my laptop to the top powers, but do not start. All I get once it is consumed on is a white screen with a STATIC cursor top left. It won't go any further than that.

I've read about problems with a white screen flashing cursor in the top of the left black screen of death. But my cursor does not blink.

I tried all the solution suggestions given to the white screen of death and nothing. I tried to change the ram nothing. Hard drive is fine, it has been read and consulted in a desktop machine.

I tried to ram on its own in housing individual and noticed that ram not placed in 1 location I get black screen no cursor.

On his own in the other powers, but all I get is this accident of static cursor.

  • White screen and beeps when turn on Satellite 3000 X 11

Can anyone help? A couple of times in recent weeks my Satellite 3000 X 11 itself has turned off. However, it then displays a white screen when I turn it on and 3 beeps followed by 3 beeps of x x. The power led & battery lights on and the hard drive flashes once - fan does not work - it happened to someone else? Or can someone suggust cause and remedy? Thank you
    Tim

    HI Edward,.

Beep codes are indications that the unit doesn't have his POST processing. The exact cause can only be diagnosed by a qualified Toshiba service agent.

In regards to your hard drive, will find it this located below your optical drive that must be removed first. Remove the screw (F5) the appliance and slide the optical drive before that. You will then be able to access the hard disk.

    Kind regards

  • White screen on startup of the satellite C850

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C850 PSCBWA-05E001 so 18 months out of warranty now.
I bought it for a few friends, I gave him to who are in the Philippines, so it is difficult for me to check and repair. My friends lack the funds to get it checked if any help would be appreciated.

Some days he started to initiate a white screen. You can see the mouse, but that's all. They are unable to get the computer display anything. I read on several forums that it could be a video cable however I got them to hooked to an external monitor to work through the laptop's VGA output & restarted the laptop & the external monitor goes to white screen which are also seems to exclude a faulty video cable as this would affect the monitor to the laptop only I think.

I'm concerned that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Very disappointed for my friends since the machine is just out of warranty.
    Someone at - it ideas?

    > I am afraid that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Yes, I have fear of the motherboard must be replaced in case of malfunction of the graphics card of m.
It would be the worst cases because the new motherboard is very expensive and in most cases it s not worth buying a new motherboard if isn t valid warranty more.

I have no many solutions for you; It looks like a hardware problem and to resolve this problem, replace the defective part. But of course, it of a just a question of money :(

  • White screen satellite C650 - no Boot Up

Satellite C650 - no Boot Up - white screen

This laptop is just over 1 year.

Laptop screen suddenly went white, he is stopped even if the battery was half full.

It will charge is no longer and the charging light does not illuminate.

Does not respond when you press the power button, even using from the mains.

Is it a common problem with this model?

It is possible to address the question, what are the steps involved in the process?

Laptop needs spare parts to fix this?

    Thank you.

    > Is it a common problem with this model?
Certainly not and something like this can happen on every laptop.
On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what problem can be. All of a sudden switch OFF may be related to material high temperature and overheating.
I put t know how I can you use your laptop on battery power, but I hope you don t use it in the lap or bed and the air vents are not blocked somehow.

Place the laptop on the desktop and check if the same thing will happen again.

When the laptop turns off and you leave it for a while, can you restart normally?

  • Satellite P300 - white screen after waking from sleep state

    I'm having this problem:
The LCD screen may be empty when the computer is "awakened" from the sleep state. Nothing is visible on the internal LCD or an external monitor.

There seems to be a solution:
An update of the firmware for a component in the main circuit of the computer solves this problem. This update must be performed by an authorized Toshiba (ASP) Service provider. Until arrangements are made for the update, restart the computer by pressing the power on button for a few seconds.

Is - this driver BIOS or graphics? Which version should download, where... etcetera. More tips on how to solve the problem are also welcome.

If you check the Toshiba document you would see that your Satellite P300 is not related to this issue.

In your case I would recommend upgrading the BIOS and graphics driver.
In addition to keep your operating system up-to-date.

I had this problem under Win XP and a MS patch and an update of the graphics card driver helped solve this problem.
