White wiping whole hard drive

I have a 5720 to Acer Aspire with Vista Home Premium loaded.  I want TO erase safely the entire hard drive completely and totally blank so destroy all data and partitions (including of course hidden too).  I then want to repartition the hard drive and install Vista Business.  I have already deleted from the HARD drive and installed Windows clean several times.

I have a copy of Microsoft's Vista business and I discovered on my laptop HP yesterday (for which I have no HP drives...), this copy does NOT load the SATA AHCI driver - I discovered this by accident when I activated "State native SATA" in the BIOS and then concluded that Vista business would not be responsible and instead the computer goes through the post OFFICE to a black screen before the Microsoft logo then returned early POST again, and so on, in the round.  Deactivation of the native state SATA in BIOS stopped it and Vista loaded normally.  Oddly enough, a second computer HP (same model) loaded from the same copy of Vista without a hitch and in Device Manager, I saw what appeared to be the evidence of a single AHCI driver loading.  A period of frustration (think what the hell of Tasmania in the Roadrunner cartoons) led me to discover that the first drive is SATA I while the second one was SATA II (using Speccy, the last two 2nd hand buys).  Why Vista interacted with the two differently, I don't know.

Back to the Acer 5720 - Speccy reveals what has a SATA II HARD drive.  I have never had a factory for her records but you made my own now using eRecovery.

If I wipe the HDD well Acer empty, I imagine that the factory reset disc I made does not contain a full installation of any Windows operating system and become so useless for me (I did it as a blanket of security... I felt fine).  If I use the Microsoft disc again I load Vista Business, I fear that the SATA AHCI driver may not load.  He could--because this HDD is SATA II and the loaded HP SATA II as - but it might not.  -I note on a download page also on the Acer website (http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=548) that there is a download for Aspire 5720 SATA.  Is it the AHCI driver I need to load to load Vista professional stage where I am confronted by the screen "unallocated space" (the HARD drive has yet to be formatted) and the bottom, there is a button that says "load driver?

Sorry to be too verbose but I don't want to not end up with a blank HARD disk that does not do anything because the AHCI driver is missing and I can not reinstall Vista Home Premium from disks of factory reset because I destroyed the hidden partition or factory reset disk contains not a full copy of the Home Premium edition.

I would appreciate all the advice of those who did this please - thanks.

I think that is the driver ahci you need

You should try to install vista without driver ahci first, make sure you have in ahci mode in the bios

  • Repair shop wiped the hard drive and gave the wrong version of XP

I have an Acer Aspire one model ZG5, which came with XP home. While still under warranty, the pad has stopped working and would then start is more upward. I sent it in for repair, they wiped the hard drive and fixed my problems. Except, instead of reinstalling XP Home Edition, XP Professional installed. I can't use my computer without first professional activator, which I just can't do it, and I don't have a version of the House that I can install myself. I wouldn't rather to pirate a copy, but I'm not sure how to get a copy of the House, I already bought once and do not feel that I should buy it a second time. How could I go solve this?

Back to whom you have sent your computer for repair and request that they make good (on) copy of Windows back or give you a license key valid for the version that they installed.

  • Re: Can I repair the operating system without resetting the whole HARD drive?

I have a Toshiba Satellite M50, I ran an antivirus in safe mode scan today and must have accidentally deleted a file system because now I can not connect.
The computer will start but when I try to log in it connect, flash back, my office to the floor once and then connect again.
I can repair the operating system without resetting the entire hard drive and lose all my files?

And if not, is there someway to initiate a prompt BACK because I don't that the file is still in the recycling bin, and I might be able to restore it.

    Hello Bambi

Repair option with the recovery DVD (image recovery) is not available. Using recovery DVDs, you can install OS and have once again the factory settings.
As far as I know at the BACK level, you can start using BACK discus. You can create bootable CDs.

  • HP Envy: Surprise by wiping the hard drive

Bit of a dilemma. As many people here seem to have experienced, the hinges on my HP Envy broke and it became difficult to open. I don't think too much of it until one of the parties apparently messed up my laptops fan, and it has stopped working. Fortunately, I bought the warranty of two years on this issue, but before I change it I would like to wipe the hard drive.

Unfortunately, my computer is too hot, the wipe can be performed (sometimes above 3%) and stops. Is it possible to get of arundel this?

    Thank you

If you start a wipe and it fails, you went far enough to discourage most users access to all data.    There is minimal risk of you data may be retrieved and used for malicious purposes, but if you want to wipe it completely you need to take out the hard drive and connect it to another PC (internally or through external HARD drive dock) to format/wipe, he.

  • How do I format my whole hard drive?

I have real problems with the speed of my laptop. would like to know how to format my drive hard so that I can re install windows vista, just like I would if the top of the tower was brand new

    Hello

you format the drive in the process of recovery/reinstall thr

as you don't say how you want to reinstall vista, read this

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

HOW CAN I WIPE MY COMPUTER CLEAN HARD DRIVE. HE HAS A VIRUS AND I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REBOOT OR WIPE THE HARD DRIVE FOR MY WINDOWS 7 TO WORK PROPERLY.

The best approach for a very infected PC
is a 'Clean Install' you can never be 100% certain that every last bit of the infections have been removed.

That said if you have time and want to see how you can go to eliminate viruses, malware and bots then read on.

Start by reading the following information of the Virus removal:

For me on a PC friends who had more than 60 infections and there is no CD of restoration and the key code has been lost, the article above "Malware Bytes", "AVG Free" and Norton NIS 2010 has been around.

    NIS 2010 trial software:

(Note: the trial download Norton NIS requires a credit card, read the terms 'Opt Out' before you start)

    AVG Free:

In addition, a second pass using Malware Bytes and NIS seems to have removed all infections.

  • Is it possible to recover files deleted from your Recycle Bin, after the failure of the computer after the backup hard drive contained in the folder windows.old, including system files?

Very well. My computer is messed up awhile back and my friend saved my whole hard drive, the files system and everything, then wiped and restored, then ALL put in a folder called "windows.old" that I can access my hard drive. So since he has saved the files system and everything, I'll be able to recover my old files I had deleted before it was erased, if (hopefully) they is not replaced? If so, what filepath can I go in?

    Hi thatonehxckid,

The content in the trash is not saved in the folder windows.old during a custom installation.

  • Recovery disks will still work if I wipe the HARD drive?

Hey everybody! I have a quick question and I hope one of you can tell me if I'm about to make a huge mistake.

My HP Pavillion Dv6 had serious problems and chkdsk deleted a lot of clues. I worked on the problem of HARD drive and looks is not default (no bad sectors, only of weakness). I read that zero-filling can help with HARD drive problems.

My only question is that I don't know if I'll be able to just reinstall after I have zeros, because the building programs will be wiped. I have an application and Driver Recovery CD and a DVD of system recovery that I have used before. These will still work if I have zero filling? Or I need something else?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Sadie

    Hi Sadie,

Yes, your recovery disks will work if set you to zero the whole HARD drive (they would also work on a new HARD drive if you need to replace the existing one).

When reloading the operating system, you choose the "Factory Reset" option will reinstall the OS and recreate all the original scores.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A300-23F: would reocvery disc format my HARD drive?

I lost my windows recovery disk and ordered the recovery disc for my toshiba SATELLITE A300-23F that has windows vista.
For the moment, I have windows xp trial intalled on my laptop.
If I install windows vista from the recovery disk, it will erase all the data already on my hard drive, including partitions, or it will automatically move into diving C:

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, the recovery disk would firstly format the whole HARD drive.
This means that all partition will be deleted, and that means you lose everything that was stored on the HARD drive.

Therefore, you must back up important data before you begin the recovery procedure.

    Welcome them

  • Qosmio F50 - the hard drive recovery?

    Hello

I had a very big problem.
I've made a few changes with my Vista regs and then I was unable to start again.
So, I started the recovery program (second HARD drive), backed up my files and selected whole HARD drive recovery.

Well, now problem - everything was going well, but when I walked into the Vista installation I had to shut down the computer.
Now, when I start up the pc and load Vista I message I need to reinstall my computer again.

Well, they say nothing about how load the recovery file but I have no option for this - only emergency mode, with the support of network, etc., but without recovery emergency. Moreover, when I select emergency mode, I can't load Vista-it says I need to run the Setup in normal mode, which told to re - install. Yep, circle-_-.

    Model: Qosmio F50

Do you think that when I erase all the Vista disc manually - for example with linux, and then start the computer, I get a possibility to load the second part of the drive to start the installation?

Thanks in advance because I'm really despair

    Hello

    > So, I started the recovery program (second HARD drive), backed up my files and selected whole HARD drive recovery.
    I'm a bit confused of m.
How do recover you the laptop?
Have you used the Toshiba HDD recovery option which could be launched by pressing F8, select fix my computer-> Toshiba Recovery?

Usually, it is a procedure how to start the Toshiba HDD recovery.

I guess you didn't create a recovery Toshiba drive in the past is good?
It was a big mistake buddy because the recovery disk would help you in difficult situations

Well, as I said above; You can try to start the HARD drive recovery. If this will not help you I think that you would need a Toshiba Recovery disk.
    You can order it here:

  • Questions on on Satellite A300 HARD drive partitions

    Hello

I would like to install a new OS (new operating system: Windows 7, old OS: Vista Edition Home Premium) on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300-237) to repartition the whole HARD drive. I see a non-standard partition, its size is of ~ 1 GB, can I delete this partition?

    What information contains this partition?
I did the recovery previously by Toshiba HDD Recovery disks. Guess when I delete any partition and put in place and installation of the discs, will recover the initial state (including the hidden partition)?

    Thank you

If you want to install your own Win7 version delete all existing partitions and then create a C partition for the installation of the OS.
I guess you write over WinRE partition and it is about 1.5 GB.

I installed Win7 ultimate 32 bit on my Satellite A300 and it works perfectly.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 let me know.
