Why am I being asked to restore my last session each time I open firefox?

I downloaded firefox 7 I thought it was # 8 anyway, everytime I open firefox I have a button to restore my last session that closed with all the problems. fox 3.6.23 only did if some thing was sticking with a few pages open. but after I closed it had disappeared, whose bright idea was it it hold the stupid opening or asking me to restore? I guess that fire up fox ranks after 3.6.23 prove to be very bad, this problem must be resolved, or I'll go back to 3.6.23 where I had very few problems.

Have you considered to define a different page than the home page?

  • How do disable you a restore session each time that you enter in a new session?

I enter a new session and it restores my last session after closing. I tried all the beasts on: config suggested other issues stuff and it didn't work. I have a homepage set. I have the good session restore attributes, set to false. I don't know what else to do. It is a 'feature' annoying! Why did do this?

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them .html and .txt, so you can see only a file name without .ini and .js file extension.
You can see the type of actual file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • The button to restore the last session disappeared. New tab, now this tab is my; AST session. Help! Have read all options & checked all, what now?

I am using Windows XP PRO 32-BIT... I read (and checked) all options but still can't find my last session of navigation of yesterday. I opened a new tab in 'My Favorites', only one tab open, so now, this tab is my "last session"...
What can I do now, please? For my research, some I might be able to remember, some are my favorites, but can't always remember the names to find them again, I have a lot of tabs open!
I have a lot of files bookmarked...
Previously I always managed to restore by clicking the Session Manager to restore the last session, but the button seems to have disappeared. Please, I'm old and need of (detailed) easy step by step instructions!
I just remembered I have some work early this morning, it worked well then. I went to make breakfast. When I came back, the computer was disconnected and restarted. But I have no idea why.
Maybe something happened? I cannot now get this morning session or session of yesterday, with all the tabs I had open for research...
    Thanks in advance...
    Sylvia

The user.js file is not there by default.
It is present than if you or other software had created, so if you can't find it, then it's OK.
Note that Windows hides file .js extension, probably, you see only a user with the type of JScript file.

You will find this bookmarking a page (by clicking the star next to the address, or to go in bookmarks > bookmark this page is precisely what we must remember the pages.) This is a feature common in web browsers, and it's very very useful in many situations, including the memory of the location of the pages that you want to see later, allowing access to the pages that you use frequently and other things too.

If you want to know about session restore, there is a helpful support article here which I think also has information on version 3.0. However, I invite you, once more, update, since older versions (including 3.0) are is more sustained and have known security flaws. In addition, you will not lose any no matter what functionality at all (unless you use modules that are no longer usable by the newer versions, in which case you must contact the authors of Add-ons for support and ask them to update their software), is free and very easy to do.

If you need other help at all, whatever it is, tips, troubleshooting, step-by-step procedures, feel free to ask here.

Firefox 4 records the previous session.

You can use "Firefox > history > restore previous Session" for the previous session.

There is also a button 'Restore previous Session' on the default on: Home home page.

  • It is April 2013, so why the date change to January 2002 it is restarted each time?

Why my computer keep changing the date of January 2002 it is restarted each time?   Several times I manually put it in April 2013 with time zone (GMT-05:00) Eastern time (United States and Canada &).  But on reboot it goes back to the year 2002.  I have Windows XP Home edition.

Oh no! I had not thought of that. If the default BIOS is happened to run on now.  Once I replaced the c - mos battery should I search and download a BIOS update?

More modern computers don't need a battery to maintain their settings or be reconfigured when the battery is changed.  That's why this battery is more precisely called the RTC (Real Time Clock) battery.

It is sometimes known as the CMOS battery because it is the type of memory (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) in what settings that the BIOS needs used to be saved.  Nowadays, these settings are saved in another type of 'no volatile random access memory' (NVRAM memory) that does not need a battery to maintain memory.

In the old days (maybe also recently when Win95 was running), electronics is not able to detect the type of HDD to use (and possibly other materials) and configurations should be set manually. Because the CMOS memory does need a battery to maintain, when the battery is dead, you need to reset these configurations.
