Why can I not print in black and white only?

Why is the HP Officejet Pro 8600 more unable to print black and white only if the black cartridge is not empty?

What I mean is that I went into the settings to set the printer to print black and white only but also print text in black only.  Yet, I HAVE to replace the cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, because they are exhausted.  Nothing to do with black printing, whereas a SEPARATE black cartridge is and is always full should cyan, magenta and yellow ink?

I'm aggravated about how the driver for this printer is designed TO FORCE me to buy cartridges not black when I deliberately put printing be BLACK ONLY.  I'm unable to move forward with my impression.  This is considered to be a show-stopper and is unacceptable as the setting that I've assigned and exhausted cartridges message contradict each other.  If the adjustment is made for print in black and white only including text, then print black and white, because I know that the black ink is still available.

Take into consideration that printing may take place at any time.  Not being able to use black as my other color (WHICH IS NOT EMPTY AND IS A SEPARATE CARTRIDGE) forces me to stop.  I can't go forward until the store open.  Wal-Mart isn't always an option.   It's lost time.

The inability to switch to self-supply to meet to use the black cartridge is only a waste of time.

Call it for what it is, a form of ransom. HP wants me to spend the money on the color cartridges that have nothing to do with black and white printing.   When I am ready to print in color, which should be a time of my choosing.

Either way, the form, which I am trying to print is black and white only.  No color is on this form.  It is foolish to force printing in color to a black and white document.

Hello

Specially protect the print heads printers much NEED other inks even they only print in black. During the warm-up process, printers require all inks so they can stop before we continue. Some printers allow printing (especially those who have the ink tank three colors), but they can print at a speed of snail baby.

Kind regards.

    Hi @presentmomentum,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Here's how to adjust the color temperature:

When you go to print a document, click on "Show details" (next, where it says PDF). Then click on 'TextEdit' and click on 'Type/quality paper.' From there, you can select the grayscale, black and white or color and toggle various levels of quality (Normal, Best project). If you use the grayscale function, you can choose just to use the black cartridge only.

  • HP Photosmart 7350 will not print in black and white

This camera has served me well for printing color photos and other things for several years.

Ink is EXPENSIVE, and I have several text documents I want to print. I have several

    56 ink cartridges (black).

I can simply not a black and white "no photo" to print.

I tried with the 56 and 57 (beside him) inside AND out. I tried to select in grayscale,

in all three sub-options (high quality cartridge, black only, optimized for the FAX). Tape

is NOT yet on the 56 cartridge. I do not use any mode of 'keep the ink' I know.

The best I can get using the FAX setting optimized (I think) is very pale, a bad quality

print page - words too dark, I can barely read (light grey). I suspect it is sucking

the cartridge (cyan-magenta-whatever) 57 to print it.

I have trouble-shot days before that by typing. I googled this problem both

in the HP forum and out through Google. What I'm trying to make is so basic and...

I dare say, 'simple', that I can't believe is not possible.

    Thanks in advance!

The print head is the rectangular silver part at the bottom of the cartridge on this particular model.  It would seem that the question be electronic printer failed, but before you give up, please try soaking in hot water with one of the printheads. It is possible for the accumulation of ink on the print heads to leave a stain on the fabric during the test, this could be confused with the strong task resulting from a cartridge to work.

  • HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515: The printer does not print in black and white

Whenever I have print using my "Hp Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515' black ink never gets printed.

Color ink seems to work very well. The cartridge ink levels are really low. It is a problem since I use black and white for documents without photos. When I print something in black, I get everything just a blank page

I ran hp print and scan the doctor but it did not solve my problem, instead, she updated driver for the printer that was not really helpful.

    Hello, abdulmajid13,

If printing works very well in the beginning, black print cartridge installed, you screenshot, now the black ink is about 20%. But is that the ink level "estimated".

I recommend you replace the black cartridge. If the problem is still there with a new cartridge installed, you may need to contact customer service, they will help on troubleshooting below.

    Hope this helps your question.

  • How to print in black and white only?

I use a HP officejet 6500 E710n-z.  I only want to use the black ink cartridge.  How can I do this?

I'm sorry you have a problem with black cartridge only printing. You may NOT use the black cartridge ONLY.

You can print in black only, but it will always use your cartridge color, a little at a time to mix with blacks.

Here is a link that I posted, explaining that, in order to print in black, the color cartridges mix to get a true black color.

  • OFFICEJET PRO 8600: PRINTING BLACK AND WHITE ONLY

Printer does not print in black and white only, even if this option has been selected by "Printer properties" or "Printer Preferences".

Please read this post then provide some details.  There the error messages on the computer screen or the printer?

The Officejet Pro 8600 series has separate heads for printing and ink supplies.  To protect the print head of damage the printer requires all inks to be present to print in black only.  If one or more of the inks are exhausted, they must be replaced to allow printing.
