Why can't I import an AVI movie in my windows movie maker? Thank you.

I use Windows xp

MVI is not the format... What is the extension of the movie file?

If you do not see the last three letters past the point...

Example: MVI_0212.AVI

You can open a folder and go to... Tools / Folder Options / View tab on...
and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" / apply / OK.

Now you should see the extension.

What happens when you try to import the file into Movie Maker?

To convert the file. WMV you need of conversion software.

There are to many converters available on the net...
