  First, disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer, and then try to start and check what is happening. If the same happens, then you can try to start in safe mode and check if you are able to boot to the desktop. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started.   Two days ago, restarted my computer, which worked very well for a few hours, (& a few years) suddenly automatically.   He then ran fine for about 4 hours when it restarts again.   He has now made that ~ 20 times, some time to restart after 5 minutes.   It also does if I connect on behalf of my wife, or if I boot in safe mode and log on as an administrator.   As much as I know I have no virus problem, but I can't be sure that it didn't stay on long enuf to run my antivirus program to the end.   Malwarebytes and Superantispyware both showed no problems two days ago, but now they also will not work I tried to backdate the system (System Restore) to last week, but failed, perhaps because I removed an old Norton SystemWorks program two days ago, when I got hurt, because I thought that maybe that's the problem.

  One time, I installed a software to go with a slide scanner. The software changed to the default program for photo files and then proceeds to seize up after that about 12 slides have been scanned. I removed the software, but every time I do a right-click on a file photo, jpeg, gif, bitmap, etc., or try to open the file menu when one is highlighted, close all Windows Explorer Windows and icons in the taskbar and desktop disappear for a while. The last two return after a minute or two, but not all open windows. Other programs such as Internet Explorer or MS Word are not affected.

  Sorry, you have problems.

  The system to store this information seems to be a bit fragile.

  When trying this please ensure you favorite whatever it is open and close the unnecessary tabs and don't let any ongoing work, initially you can lose more than just pins tabs. Once things go wrong, that several sessionstore files can be created, clear duplicate follow these instructions:
