Why does my mouse pointer stick momentarily?

Whenever I'm on my computer and move my pointer from one place to another (read my emails or play a game online for example) most of the time my pointer moves correctly but about every 10 or 15 seconds when I'm going to move it, it freezes for about a 1/2 second. It's just annoying and sometimes screws to the top of my game, I'm in. It is an optical mouse (reducer) and plugged into a USB port. It has something to do with the refreash rate?

Have you tried using another surface (for the mouse) to see if that makes a difference?

In addition, you can try...

* Plug the mouse into a different USB port
cleaning of the optical probe with a q-tip
using a different mouse

  • The mouse pointer does not hide when you type, even with the box checked.

Hello everyone.  I turned on the check mark in the properties of the mouse "hide the pointer during the strike".  However, the mouse pointer does not hide when typing, but instead remains visible all the time.

No one knows why this happens?  In previous versions of Windows, the pointer should simply disappear when keystrokes are typed, and then reappear when the mouse is moved.  Is not the case here!

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista.

    1. what application you are working on when you encountered this problem?

Hide the mouse pointer option allows you only to remove the mouse curzor of
the focus in the working window so that the cursor does not cover the text or the pitcure you see.

Make sure that the curzor of the mouse is placed inside the app as you type, as it does not hide the mouse, if it is outside of the application.

I used to use Vista Upgrade of XP until it hit the big time. With this installation, the option 'Open submenus when I dwell on them with the mouse pointer' worked perfectly well.  Since I did a format and installed the full installation of Vista version, and now this feature does not work. • The mouse pointer passed, touchpad and l + r buttons does not.

Hi, I had my laptop HP Pavilion for nearly two weeks and only today, I blocked my phone and I noticed that my L + R and the touchpad buttons are not working and my mouse pointer had completely disappeared.

Can someone help me by telling me how to fix this? I would be very grateful.

    Thank you.

    Hello, @cf159

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

It seems that, after the blocking of your laptop, you have lost the function of the touchpad. I will try to help you with this.

Have you tried to restart the laptop yet? Try this first.

If this does not work, turn off the computer, unplug the power adapter (if connected) and remove the battery. Press and hold the power for 30 seconds. Connect the dough or power adapter, turn on the laptop and the test.

If the problem is still present, you can try to do a restore on the laptop.

If it still does not, then try to update the drivers. You can do so here: drivers & downloads.

I'll let you start with that. If you need other assistance please provide the model number and product for your laptop and the currently installed operating system.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

  • White screen at the Vista start up... only the mouse pointer, loading the driver freezes on crcdisk.sys loading, sfc/scannow does not work...

    Hello
I don't know if this is the right place for this post... Sorry if it's not! I had looked online if anyone has the same problem to me, I found similar problems, but not the mine one (but if there is, can you please give me the link?).
I have a DELL LATITUDE D830's with a dual boot (Ubuntu and Vista). When I run Vista I get the Windows logo and then a black screen with only the mouse pointer.
Keyboard does not work. I can move the mouse, but can not select anything. No work of Ctr + Alt + Delete.
I can just turn off the computer. At first I need to press F8 to choose something otherwise I get the black screen.
If I reboot requesting the automatic restoration of the PC that he asks me the account and work only account is mine a (no administrator available). He then suggested to contact the administrator. I checked the error report and nothing is reported: the system works.
I have no previous configuration to restore.
I can access the command prompt. So I tried to write sfc/scannow. The answer is that to complete the process requires to restart the computer and make again sfc/scannow. I restart again, the new order, but I get the same answer...
When I get the black screen, CPU is not disabled, because after a long time (about 2 hours) the computer restarts itself... If something happens even if I don't know what!

The only thing I have not tried is to restore Vista from CD... I'm really afraid that this could remove the partition, or crash at startup I have, by removing access to Linux!

I have a backup of all my files, so no matter if what I have to do to cancel my files, but what I really need is to keep Linux operating.

So, if you have any suggestions... I'm not good at using the computer, so, please, a solution step by step be really appreciate it!
    Thank you very much

    Hi seymar,.

I suggest that you run a tool to restart system on the computer and check if it works.

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.

    1. Insert the installation disc.
    2. restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
    3. If you are prompted, Press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change the BIOS settingsfor your computer. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions. 4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    5. click on repair your computer.
    6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair.

Check out the link for more information below.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/how-do-I-fix-a-boot-startup-problem

If the previous step fails then I suggest that you run CHKDSK on the computer to check if there are any errors on the hard drive.
    1. Insert the installation disc.
    2. restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
    3. If you are prompted, Press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change the BIOS settingsfor your computer. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    5. click on repair your computer.
    6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click on the command prompt and type chkdsk command-line /f and wait until the scan is complete and later to restart the computer and check what is happening.

  • Do not turn the mouse pointer in one hand. Why?

    Hello!

Why, when I do a (adding an action to a symbol) button, the mouse pointer doesn't turn into a helping hand, when I put the key?

    And how to fix it?

    Thank you

You can set the cursor of the mouse for a symbol or element by using the mouse cursor option in the properties panel.

I think that the addition of that action will not turn a div for the tag button.

The mouse pointer goes way off the screen to the right and no other borders. Window Media Player opens wider than my screen. That is what it is?

    Hello

    · Have you installed the drivers on the manufacturer's Web site?

I've tried to stop all non-microsoft msconfig services and disabled all services start and enabled in the well, but yet the scheme has not been loaded.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

If your mouse is a Logitech brand, it deals with the issue.    If this is not the case, let us know what you have the mouse and we will try to help you solve this problem.

    This should solve your problem:

    1. click on start, type "msconfig" in the search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    2. in the System Configuration dialog box, click the Startup tab
    3. Locate the entries called KHALMNPR or similar and uncheck the box next to each of them.
    4. click OK and restart your computer.
    5. after the restart, change your mouse pointer, the way you want and restart again.  Your mouse settings remain the same.

  • Portege 3110 - need Accupoint driver mouse pointer for Win2K

    Hello.

I've installed Windows 2000 on my old Portege 3110. Windows has installed a generic driver, which does not work with Accupoint integrated mouse pointer. I installed all the drivers for Toshiba laptop, in the order given, but it doesn't always work. Windows does not display an Accupoint driver.

Where can I get the driver? The two buttons on the keyboard do not work.

    Thank you, Darren.

    Hello

Hmm, the driver Toshiba Europe page provides no special touchpad to the W2k OS drivers.
I checked the archive of the driver on the page and didn t find these drivers.

Have you checked if you can configure this device Accupoint in mouse options?
    Do it!

By the way; This unit Portégé is an oldie. It s about 8 years!
And that's why I put t wonder you can't find not all compatible with this device drivers!

  • My mouse pointer is be naughty. :)

I use Win 7 Home premium 64-bit.  When I change my mouse pointer in the customization, it changes in time, but when I stop and restart it is back to the original pointer. I always hit apply and ok. Any way I can keep it to change to the original?

I tried and it wouldn't let me add the slider/Windows.  He said that only the administrator can do.  I'm the only person who uses this computer so I'm not sure what to do about it.

Here is the solution and it's going to work:

I guess you have activated the UAC (User Account Control), and this is why you can not paste it just like that, but this isn't a problem.

    1. Rename your cursor, so it does not replace any of them that are already there - for example rename as: myCursor
    2. Copy and paste your cursor to: C:\Windows\Cursors
    3. Dialog Destination folder access denied is displayed
    4. Just click continue
    5. Right-click on the desktop > Personalize > change mouse pointers > Browse... to a slider at the C:\Windows\Cursors

Restart your system and you will see that you got your own cursor is more replaced with a default value.

  • The mouse pointer jump at the top of the screen when the dialog box opens

In the last few weeks my mouse pointer jumps sometimes extreme high (left side) of the FF browser window. Only happens in FF, Chrome or IE or any other application from Ms. The mouse to update drivers fees Reloaded, switched mouses, USB switch, ports switched to a mouse not MS - all to nothing does.

"It seems to happen most often when I mouse ' snap to" feature is turned on and that the pointer automatically moves to the default button in the dialog box.

This unique disability FF to hide the pointer when you enter (when the value in the mouse properties box) have become very annoying.

Please address and solve the two problems above. Thank you.

Good news! Now come on. For the moment, you can disable
KeyScrambler. You can always turn it on when you need it.
