  Please try and turn off the graphics processor in the Lightroom preferences

  Open Lightroom

  Go to Lightroom preferences in the Edit menu

  Click the performance tab

  Deselect the graphics processor

  Restart Lightroom and try to use it.

  Blue scroll bars indicate that the Wondiows operating system is loaded from the hard drive. If this process hangs while loading, then it is likely that the hard drive itself is defetive or else the files that are being loaded are corrupt and cannot be loaded.

  Interfere with the CMOS chip will not fix this problem because the BIOS has already been loaded at this point.

  If you have access to a bootable CD/DVD (such as Norton Disk Doctor) then I siggest you boot from it and running a scan of your hard drive. Alternatively you can try reinstalling your operating system of the Toshiba recovery CD but it won't replace your own data on your hard drive.

  1 you need to borrow an installation disc or a system repair disc [32-bit if yours is 32-bit, 64-bit, one if yours is 64-bit].  There is nothing that you can do without one of them.  Buy an installation disc if necessary - see Amazon reinstallation discs and note that these are inexpensive because you pay only one disk not a license.

  2. start the computer from the disk borrowed or purchased.

  3. restart normally and the problem should be gone.  The problem could never happen again.  There are other details of this in a computer running that Windows 7 does not start when force you the computer to shut down.

  4 once you are up and running then consider the steps recommended in why is my screen black when I start Windows 7 to reduce the risk of a recurrence.

  5 you can also search this forum for a black cursor screen as there is a lot of discussion on this issue.

  Open the drive, go to the edition menu > preferences > Page Display > rendering > set smooth text for laptop / monitor.

  Click OK to confirm the changes.

  Restart the drive and check if the problem persists.
