Why doesn't apple mail attachments?
Dear sage & powerful masters of technology,
After a recent update, I'm afraid that my application of apple mail no longer accepts attachments. I am running OSX 10.9.5.
Is there a way to fix this?
Also has anyone seen this problem?
What is the best way to solve this problem?

What happens when you try to attach something?
If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account. Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the United Nations to the Installer application or instructions to uninstall using the developer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

On Firefox, when I try to read my Yahoo mail, the display shows a tiny completely unreadable image on the page. On Google Chrome and IE, when I click on the mail icon, the page appears correctly. A second user account on my computer does not have this problem.

There are 18 messages in my Inbox. It is through Safari/gmail.com. My Apple Mail, zero messages client. They are not displayed in my client. Why?
Apple Mail account type is IMAP. I don't see any switch would turn to offshore my messages read.

Clarification question - are the emails in your Inbox, the same who are at gmail.com? Or are the emails not downloading? What version of OS are you using? It is the community of Yosemite, but your profile shows 10.11.
Why is Apple Mail again makes it IMPOSSIBLE to send to colleagues, friends and families photos, images and pdf files they can easily open and view.
I continue to have questions send photos and pictures to co-workers, in addition to the family.
Using of "terminal" to solve this problem is STUPID

Send attachments to Windows users
Make sure you that you send attachments of the Windows environment. To do this all messages in the main window of Mail, choose Edition > attachments, then make sure you always send attachments easy to Windows is selected. To a specific message, click on the button join on the toolbar of the message window, then make sure that send attachments of the Windows environment is selected.

I've had trouble finding my mail app downloads. First of all, they won't in the 'Mail download' folder located in my Finder window. Sometimes they are found in the "Downloads" folder Other times, I can't immediately find their. But if I search the name of the file, I noticed that my downloads in my mail application will in a download folder. But this case is dark, buried somewhere deep in a series of folders. Here is the chain of records for a recently downloaded file: downloads/F6320D5C-E169-47E8-9A09-00c408F1422D of tlynch/library/containers/com.apple.mail/data/library/mail.
When I look in this folder downloads deep within this chain (and from com.apple.mail...), I find that some first downloads have been stored there directly. But there are about two and a half years each downloaded file started being placed in a separate folder. And the names of these folders are a long string of 32 alphanumeric characters.
Are these folders the actual location of the files? I can remove them?
Can I reset the download destination? The pointer to the location of storage in the messaging application has been corrupted? Or I need to reinstall the program?

This obscure folder structure is the usual place for downloading attachments in the Mail and most other e-mail clients.
When you choose 'Download' the attachment, the file will be saved by default to the location defined in Mail-> Preferences-> general.

Yesterday, I asked my wife to go to gmail.com and clean my Inbox because I had more than 500 messages there. She joined the gmail.com using my email and password and she cleaned to have only 12 messages.
I didn't know she was done because all day, my apple mail that is related to my gmail has shown the same 500 messages. When I arrived at work this morning, I noticed that he said now 249 messages, so he did, in fact, remove (or archives), some of them. I wonder if those are the only updates that it deleted but not those she archived.

I see tabs for primary school, social, Promotions, updates in Gmail in your browser. You must disable these. Mail will show all emails in all of these tabs.
To disable the feature, click on the sign +. You can then deselect each of these tabs.

I have MacBook Pro 3 to all the excellent - 1 since 2009. Suddenly the Apple Mail Client is asked for a password for each e-mail account, except for the iCloud account.
I know that the email and password is correct, because my iPhone 6 s email client continues to download and send emails from all accounts in mail without problem. In addition, I can go directly to the e-mail page in the browser, for example, www.hotmail.com to that email account and the MacBook Pro connection directly on this page.
I tried to close all the computers down to reboot hard and using disk utility to check the disks. I also changed all the other 3 accounts 3 times: and won't do again - too much work and does not.
I downloaded Malwarebytes for Mac directly from Malewarebytes and updated definitions and ran the program. The results were negative. This shit started after RAW last download security in which a group has found a security flaw in one of the types of files to Apple. I can't help but wonder if that had anything to do with it.
Anyone had this happen; and someone has other suggestions as to what's going on please?
PS I have a time Machine that is supposed to be back up all 3 of Macbook Pro. (1 to) but I have never tried to use a backup, then it would be something new for me, if anyone thinks it's necessary.
It is quite common. Mail most likely simply lost the password and must be entered again. However, sometimes it is the Keychain Access.app.
Windows in the Menu bar select connection doctor. You will see two entries for each account - 1) reception and 2) sending SMTP.
The Red icons will tell you where the password is missing.
• Incoming is set on the main window of account under the account information tab
• The outgoing is set under parameter edit SMTP.
CHANGE THE INCOMING SETTINGS
In the window account under the account information tab, enter the password.
Click to save your password.
Check the connection doctor to see if your incoming connection now works.
CHANGE THE SMTP SETTINGS
In the window accounts > outgoing mail SMTP server: Select this option to list edit the SMTP... of popup.
Select account from the list. (It is not uncommon to find additional SMTP servers listed. When you delete the account, E-mail does not delete smtp info. You may need to do some cleaning in the list to remove the extra cost).
On the Advanced tab:
Apple uses by default the default ports (25 465, 587), but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see which port they recommend. For example, Gmail like 465, 587 Outlook.com.
Check if your server requires SSL.
Username. Enter the full e-mail address for example. [email protected]
Add password if it is empty. (If you have configured authentication two step, you will need a password specific app)

Open connection doctor to the title of the window in the menu bar.
Think you that green light now for your SMTP account?
If you still have problems...

Open Keychain Access, in Applications/Utilities
Search for your account. You might find several. Normally you have not more than two. An incoming and an outgoing.
Registration by e-mail have blue @.
Delete all entries. The keychain is not smart and keep all the old entries when you add / modify a password.
Open Mail and enter the password of your account. Enter account account information and settings to modify SMTP Advanced tab tab
Password should stick now.
Note: Keychain first aid no longer exists in El Capitan.

Why not add your gmail account in Apple Mail? There are several other benefits to do so (as can easily send images and links, data and other sensor technology).
My Apple Mail signatures are gone! I don't know how it happened. When I look in mail preferences, all the signatures for all of my email accounts are now gone. I have 8 setup of email accounts and had 10 registered signatures.
Of course, along with millions of others, I give why apple cannot provide even a decent email client. But this issue is actually of rhetoric. For this post, I'd be completely satisfied to receive help to solve my immediate problem.

How can I insert a gif animated in Apple Mail with reliability? It seems that, at random, gif anime, OR it will be just a static image.
When it's a static image, the drop-down menu "image size" appears. When it is animated, this does not happen.
I tried the drag and drop, both using the attachment in Mail icon.
I had this problem for about a month and can not identify why sometimes the gif comes alive, and sometimes it isn't.
I don't know the answer to your question, however, is not specific to the position. It has something to do with how the GIFs are created or packaged. The same thing is happening in browsers and in the Finder.

I use Apple mail with a Gmail account.
I can not assign a priority to an individual e-mail message setting.
then: in the drop down menu choose: Message / Mark
the 3 axes appear
-As low priority
-As normal priority
-With a priority high
are all 'grayed out' - I can't select all.
Could it be a setting in my Gmail account, I need to change...?

Priority settings apply only to outgoing messages, so it might be why you are not able to choose a priority. I have a mid 2013 13 - inch MacBook Air with OS X 10.11.5. I regularly use the Apple Mail as my default email without any problem client. I also use Safari as my browser main opening only Chrome sometimes when I have a problem with a particular Web site. I have my email of company through Mail and use gmail on Safari for my personal e-mail. I worked this way for years. Suddenly in the last two weeks, if I click on an email link in Mail it opens in Chrome. I'm in Mail preferences and default mail software is Google Chrome, even if I never made this change. I then change the e-mail by default back to Mail reader and exit preferences. I then click on a link in Mail and maybe email, it opens a window of response in the mail, but often he has already been restored to Google Chrome, in a few seconds. Closing and opening of mail does not solve this problem, also using the "Select" feature in the drop-down list the default e-mail reader and choose manually the Mail of my Applications folder does not resolve this problem. He continues to come back to Chrome as default mail software. Somehow Chrome apparently hijacked my default player, how can I permanently solve this problem?

I know how it is important that your default e-mail and browser settings work correctly as well. I suggest to start in safe mode and see if you can make changes here. Check out the following steps: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up
Start in safe mode
Follow these steps to start in safe mode.
- Start or restart your Mac.
- As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
- Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.
After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.
To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.
If safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling Google Chrome and then put it back. I hope these steps help!
