Why Firefox run/open to all, any how I try to start, after being updated to v41.0.1?

After the update for Firefox 41.0.1, yesterday I'm not able to start or open Firefox. My operating system is Windows XP. I have received no error messages and have no reason to think that the update failed. I scanned my computer several times and have no reason to think that I have no viruses/malware/etc... All other browsers are functioning normally and my computer does not have other symptoms that I noticed.

A window saying that Firefox would be updated after its restart or the next time I opened it, and I shortly thereafter turned off my computer. When I turned it back on and tried to start Firefox, nothing happened. I tried to open it via the Run..., by clicking the shortcut on the desktop, by going to the Firefox folder and try to start from there, and every other way that has been suggested by several pages here. Nothing works. No matter what I do, the Task Manager shows never firefox.exe is running. As a result, I couldn't try all alternatives that rely on my being able to use Firefox in some way. However, I tried all the other suggestions. Nothing has worked. I can not yet use the Profile Manager; When I try, nothing happens. Like most pages sternly warn me that reinstall or downgrade Firefox will either do nothing, or be dangerous, that I have no idea what else to try. I suppose that, at this stage, that means probably I'm missing something obvious, but I still have no idea what I might be missing.

Thank you very much in advance for your help! It is GREATLY appreciated.

Hi, take a look at this first - Firefox does not start - solutions, but if anything can help, it may be that this can be resolved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you delete your Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not delete your Firefox profile (such as bookmarks and passwords) data, since this information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, follow these steps: Note: you can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
  2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

    Click the close button

).

  • Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:

      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  • Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
  • More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

    • Why Firefox tells me "another program is using the file" 1 hour after the update of Firefox, when I click on the desktop icon?

It happened when I tried to update c. 16 to 17 as well. I had go it and download v. 18 and he told me that she had and he asked me to restart Firefox. I clicked on the "Restart Firefox" button. He closed Firefox 17. I waited an hour and no Firefox had begun. I clicked on the icon on my desktop for Firefox, and I got a window with "another program is using the file.

The last time that happened, I had to uninstall v. 16, use Opera 12.12 to download version 17 and then installed, to have to set my preferences just a little and then I could start v. 17.

Why update your program allows me to update, instead of downloading a new program?

I'm on Windows XP SP3 and a very fast motherboard.

Finally, I decided to check if my AVG antivirus or IOBit Malware Fighter software is interfering and I disabled them temporarily. I restarted and then turned off these programs and then opens Firefox. It was as usual, 17.0.1 version not updated. I went to help, on Firefox, click Find updates. Downloading updates, invited to restart Firefox, and after closing Firefox, I got the window that says that he was installing the updates, for the first time for an attempt to update to version 17 or 18. He installed the updates and restarted in fact without any problems.

I was about to turn off all of my Add-ons for the next test. I never had to disable my AVG or IOBit before and they are the latest versions, too. AVG is the same version that allowed the update to v. 16 before. If something is different both Firefox 17 and 18, that it will not allow updates with AVG in force (or possibly IOBit Malware Fighter).

I had a long discussion with a Support Agent and finally solved my problem in activating my root user... after a lot of trial and error/attemtpts. Here is my summary just fyi, I hope this works for you also.

      I'm on MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.5.

      1. They had me first go to ~/Library/Applications support/Adobe/OOBE and delete the file 'opm.db '... Creative cloud question remained.
      2. Then they asked me to go to support/Adobe ~/Library/Applications and rename the files "AAMUpdater" and "OOBE"... and go to the library/application support/Adobe (note this is a different path) and remane the files "AAMupdater" and "AAMupadaterInventory"... question remained.
      3. They had me also go to my Netwrok Prefrences, Proxy server to configure, and enusre all boxes are unchecked and "use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" also unchecked... did not help, the question remained.
      4. Of course they had me uninstall and then reinstall the creative cloud application, which I did (Applications > utilities > Adobe installer and run the "uninstall Creative Cloud")... but the question remianed.
      5. Finally, they had me to visit this page on the Apple support page, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and activated the user root for OS X Lion.
        1. After allowing the root user (and create a new password for it), I rebooted my Mac
        2. Saved in my Mac once as 'root' and connected to Adobe Creative Cloud using my usual Adobe user/email name and password.
        3. Go to the 'Applications' tab, and it worked perfectly!
        4. I disconnected the root on my Mac, then that reconnected me.
        5. Launched the creative application of Cloud, connected and went to 'Apps'... works great!

    • Why Firefox always opens with the last session tabs?

When I open firefox always opens with the last session tabs? How can I solve this problem?

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: 'Open with'; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them are .html, .ini and .js, .txt, so you can see only file name without the file extension.
You can see the type of actual file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

Firefox guard open a new window every time when I click on a tab to open it. Happens quite a few times per day now and it's annoying.

Versions of Firefox 3.5 and later have a feature called tabs.

You can detach a tab in the current window and open in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.

You can drag the tab to the tab bar in the original window to cancel this detachment.

    • How can I get my printer spooler running I get error 1075 when I try to start it

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

      Ideas:

      • You have problems with programs
      • Error messages
      • Recent changes to your computer
      • What you have already tried to solve the problem

If you see something like this:

Cannot start service on Local computer print spooler.
Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

      Error 1075 means "ERROR_SERVICE_DEPENDENCY_DELETED".

This means that there is some Service think that it depends on to start the Print Spooler Service that is missing.  It's maybe the printing or drivers that have been uninstalled software.

If really, the dependency service exists and simply not work (dependence, Services must be started and running), you will get an error like this:

Cannot start service on Local computer print spooler.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group could start.

You now or you already had all of the installed Lexmark printers?

If the Service print spooler used to work well, do you have added or removed all printers since he worked?

To view your Services, click Start, run and enter in the box:

      services.msc

Click OK to open the Services Applet.

Highlight the Print Spooler Service, right-click and choose properties you can see what is happening.  You will be especially interested in the startup (generally set to automatic) type and the items listed in the Dependencies tab.

Always print spooler Service usually depends on the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is running, so if the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is not running, find it in your Services, launch it and set the startup type to automatic.

If the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is not listed as a dependency for the Print Spooler Service, you can add it.

You must see what Services depends on your Print Spooler Service, and then restart them (and their startup type automatic value), or if you have the dependency Services listed for items that are more installed on your system, you must inform the print spooler that she needs more of them to start.  Registered Addiction Services that are no longer needed must be removed.

For example, I said to my Print Spooler Service depends on the remote procedure call (RPC) Service, and also depends on the Service Jose (and of course there is no Jose service).

When I try to start my Print Spooler Service, I get an error 1075.  It's logical.

If I look at the Print Spooler Service properties Dependencies tab in the applet Services however, it does not list the Jose Service as a dependency, but if I query the Print Spooler Service broken from a command prompt, I can see what ir really depends on to start and it looks like this:

      [SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS

      Service_Name: Spooler
      TYPE: 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
      STARTUP TYPE: 2 AUTO_START
      ERROR_CONTROL: 1 NORMAL
      BINARY_PATH_NAME: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
      LOAD_ORDER_GROUP: SpoolerGroup
      TAG                               : 0
      Display_name: Print spooler
      DEPENDENCIES: rpcss
      Jose
      SERVICE_START_NAME: LocalSystem

I need to delete the Service jose as a dependency for the Print Spooler Service (and leave just the rpcss Service), then the Print Spooler Service will start.

If you don't see the problem in the Print Spooler service dependencies tab, see what are actually of a command prompt window Print Spooler Service dependencies.  To do this, click on start run and in the type box:

      cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

In the command prompt window, query the spooler to print (spooler) Service by entering the following command:

      sc qc spooler

Whatever it is listed under needs of DEPENDENCIES is running before starting the print spooler.

If there are DEPENDENCIES listed for things that are more installed, you can fix it, but first of all, we need to know what is indicated, then we can remove the ones that are not needed.

If you make adjustments, do not forget to restart your system and make sure that changes "stick".

Do, or do not. There is no test.

    • Can't get Firefox to start after OS updates

Just did the latest updates on OS - X 10.6.8 and now I can't get Firefox to start. He stands up and says he has problems (the 'annoying' window) and that I should try to close tabs. However, it does not at all, so finally I have to force quit. I try cold start the computer without effect.

We will try this. You said that you try to start Firefox 8 on the problem machine? Can you try to download Firefox www.getfirefox.com11, install it, restart your computer, and then see if it is still upward?

If this is the case, try to start Firefox in safe mode.

    • Why Firefox page opens when I run the application it even when I have a selected homepage

I recently selected latest version of Firefox and vere from the overview page opens as well as my home page. I want to just my home page to open when I launch the browser.

OK, so it seems that there are two things that can happen here:

      • "See what's new" is now defined (as well as your regular home page) as your home page. You can re - choose your homepage simply only one page of the home button sliding. The details are in How to set the home page.
      • If you tried the solution above and it does not work, it may be that Firefox isn't able to save this preference for some reason any. In this case, reset Firefox will fix this. Instructions to reset are here - Refresh Firefox – reset settings and Add-ons. After resetting Firefox, you get to choose your homepage again.
    • Why Firefox only opens after update? Told to close, but how?

Windows 7. Attempted to update Firefox later today, but it does not work on my screen. When I try to use the previous version or remove it, he first shut it down. How can I close that I can't see? Thank you.

      See:

Try to run the program Firefox once as an administrator (right click firefox.exe: run as administrator).

If this does not solve the problem then delete the program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) Firefox to do a clean reinstall.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

      See:

    • Why Firefox continues to block all the content I want to see, including tickets, I want to buy out my favorite despite changes sites does not block content?

the program continues to block the content even with blocking function disabled. I constantly switch between browsers due to the annoying feature. I want it to stop blocking content, I want to disable the blocking, but laboriously must stop at all the sites I visit and spend time while it blocks content, demand if I want to keep the content blocking, annoyingly sinks and I must say to "remember" not to do and does it continuously , while continually annoyingly content blocks! I want him to stop doing that. I'm an adult, I'm 60 years old. I don't need a babysitter on my browser telling me what I should see and what I see, please fix this as soon as possible. Apparently disable the pop-up blocker does nothing to stop this annoying problem. Its design and its content filtering. It's illegal I think since my content I pay and I pay view all content on the world wide web. I want to stop my research of filtering and blocking content! ENOUGH!

You have an extension, the FindWide toolbar, which many view as an unwanted intruder. You should be able to disable or remove the page modules. Either:

      • CTRL + SHIFT + a
      • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

For completeness, here's my method to track down and clean up bad Add - ons and other ad injectors. I know it seems long, but it's not so bad.

      (1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. Beware of everything that you don't recognize / remember, since malware often uses sounding names important or innocent to discourage you remove. Out as much garbage as possible here.

      (2) open Firefox page modules using either:

      • CTRL + SHIFT + a
      • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
      • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
        firefox.exe "about:addons"

In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

      Any improvement?

      (3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.

      Success?

    • I can't get Firefox to open at all. Does anyone else have this problem?

FF just opens when I click it. In the Task Manager, it appears in the background process only. I am running windows 8.1 on a laptop. I tried to restart the machine, I tried (many times) to uninstall and reinstall FF. When I look in the support section, I keep running into the help which is based on having a window open, FF which doesn't work at all, so it does not help. I am at my wit's end and I'm not fond of IE or chrome. Thanks for any help you can provide!

      Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables some settings and disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you are using an additional theme, place you in default theme.)

You can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

      • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
      • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
      • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue you can open Firefox in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

      Thank you.
